oh wow so i did get recorded,i just thouhg someone was taking pictures in nyc according to the FDNY guidleloines all responses are marked via priority.priority 1-6 are lights and sirens no matter how non emergent the call text really says.7-9 is no lights and sirens,we're supposed to dirve regularly. traffic doesnt move for us anywhere and canal st is one of the worst to drive down,i think i had a call on that street otherwise i never take that route

I never said the firefighters aren't doing their best. I'm just saying that the system is a joke.

Perhaps it works differently in New York City, but where I live there actually are certain calls in which an ambulance will respond with emergency lights flashing, but will not be permitted to use the siren. For instance, if an ambulance is responding to a a house fire, but there is no definite confirmation that anyone has been injured. Or, if an ambulance is transporting someone who has a broken ankle, or broken leg, but nothing that appears to be life threatening.

FDNY ambulances uses the FEDERAL SIGNAL MS4000 siren. I drove one for 3 years.

What siren do the fdny ambulance use

A serious question. In NYC, are there certain situations where an ambulance would respond to a call with its emergency lights flashing, but would not be permitted to use the siren? Several times I spotted ambulances driving through traffic in NYC with their red and white lights flashing, but did use the siren or horns at all, and really made no attempt to get people to move out of the way. It was as if they wanted to look like they were on a call, but they really weren't. Any explanation?

I think people here in NYC would move over for ANY emergency vehicle if the siren was a abstract of the rap song "Move B*tch" by ludacris.... "Move B*tch! Get out the way, Get out the way Bitch! Get out the way, Move B*tch!"
