What Makes An Economy Grow
A simple example economy demonstrates how all economic growth is is individuals doing things or making things others want. Money is simply the IOU given to the craftsman, who gives it to the next person for something HE wants. Adding more money only makes the existing money worth less.

A brief history on the United States Congress' budgeting process, focusing on post-1974, and the myth of congressional budget cuts. I would like to thank minutephysics, ViHart, and the Brothers Chaps for inspiring me with the art styles in their videos.

Thanks for the video. Just one thing to add: growth is tightly linked to environmental degradation, so we will have to think of different strategies for well-being than to keep pushing 'growth button'. ;)

I completely agree: Its about making more stuff. Not the money itself. (Assuming its a healthy economy)

This was fine until we got to the cynicism about politicians. Political institutions are also actors in an economy, and some investments are best handled on a collective level.

theres no proof the pile of money would change anything. $100 is still needed, they just have more of it opposed to the 1. which didnt change anything except that whomever needed it back if they hit 0, or else they cant buy anymore. they buy not because of the product, but because they arent of that utility to get such a product, so they pay someone else to. causing a chain reaction... if not everything is equally $100... then there will be changes... and there may be someone whos getting more but paying less... therefore the piles of money would be unfairly accumlated, and giving a pile of money takes that away... unless you purely dont want others to be amidst in an economy, so find ways to take them out... unjustly...

But what some people dont understand is, the demand for different goods and services, is changing into a digital realm. And its changing into a more opportunistic climate. The government should not panic too much. But also shouldnt create so much debt. Treasurers should realise. Making and selling digital goods is totally different. It takes time, but eventually. Digital assets grow quite large. But inequality is rife. Look at say, an only fans girl. Making millions of dollars. Simply by being naked.. she doesnt even need to leave her home. She can bring in a lot more overnight than even a working girl. Now, compare this to a graphic designer , artist or musician. They can bring in digital assets in a more steady flow. But they have to remain relevant, now these people can all buy property, and live quite comfortably, so long as they do it right. I guess it makes things less predictable. But, if i were investing. I could play it safe, and invest in gold or penny stocks. But we need some more wealthy investors creating agencys. Brands. Entitys. Cos, if they do, thier payoff could be rewarding for everyone. I also think there needs to be more opportunity out there for different types of brand deals. RUclips need to be more fair with creator growth. Give everyone the same opportunitys. Same as a lot of other platforms. And if your an investor. Invest in an artist. Give them the tools they need if you can afford it. I guess thats what record companies do. But, we need to stop the whole printing more money thing.

I have hunted for a video like this for a long time. It's a great video. But I am still a little mystified. Where would the butcher have gotten the $100 from? I have always assumed that, to develop an economy that uses money, (as opposed to trade by barter), you would kick things off by issuing each individual an amount of money commensurate with the wealth or skill he or she possessed. So in this scenario, each individual would initially have a little money since they all provide valuable services, but some individuals might receive more money than others to reflect the different values of their services.

The only thing we lose here are resources, which is why we need sustainable development. Money is meaningless without sufficient resources, hence scarcity will occur.

Scarce resources of what? Wood? Plant more trees. Iron? We’ve barely tapped anything in just the crust The myth of scarce resources is for authoritarians to control us in what they deem “sustainable” when really there is no sustainability problem to be had

How do you counter the next statement: "But that (liberating the economy from state regulations) would mean that the private sector could fire employees at will without consequence. People wouldn't be able to get a dismissal compensation after they get fired."

It's unsustainable if people have jobs without being able to add value, it risks whole companies. They should have the chance to work where they are needed.

The video comes off as very anti-socialist and extremely pro-capitalist, even if both systems can work very well A planned economy, following the same principle, can make everything work as well, perhaps even better than a laissez-faire Economic growth is possible only when you start regulating how much people can abuse the work of others (minimum wage, for example, makes a better economy over time, as we can see from history: after the plague in the 1348, the economy became much better because people started getting paid more and could buy more) Without regulations we'd go back to a very simple self sustaining economy like in medieval times

In my country, small businesses dominated the economy and I always wonder at night why in the world are those 'smart' people not smoothening the interaction of these businesses and take a rational risk to trigger a fucking prosperity so no more underage kids have to sell themselves only to have dinner. In fact, the government oftentimes restricts these people and they somehow choose to support bigger companies (obviously has something to do with corruption). It's crazy how this isn't settled already here that I'm now considering to study economy
