Could you make a tutorial on how to create 3D text effect in Inkscape? Beveled, Bold, Shiny, Long Shadow, Metallic
It depends on what quality you are looking for. If you want a fast and dirty effect then that can be easily done in a few clicks with the standard Effects or Plugins, or if you want a clean and high quality text that can take up to a few hours of manual work. I do not make standard tutorials, I make extreme experiments with the art in inkscape.
what program do you recommend to someone who wants to start digital drawing but has no experience at all, not even with paint?
Hi there awesome @kimiwis You can begin with Krita as it is the most intuitive and free to pick up.
@@inkscapepanda Thanks Panda!
Fantastic, as always. Thanks for the video. When I use corners directly on the canvas, I usually disable snap, I think it behaves better that way. That crash you had also happens to me sometimes with that tool. But not consistently enough to always replicate it and send a bug report. At min. 49:00 approx, LPE interpolate sub-paths works better for me than the extension. You just have to combine the lines to use it. If it does strange things, just do path reverse to one of the lines 💯
Yeah, I get what you mean 😃 I did upgrade to Beta 3 now and it seems there are some nice stability things in there.
@@inkscapepanda Nice!
Great, thanks for the video. It would be interesting to see on screen how you control the filter values, I mean, see how to do the magic 😄
That freaking panel is so huge, that fi i try to bring it over the screen it covers everything on the canvas :)) I know I can make it smaller but it is difficult for me to tweak the controls. I do try to explain what I do there off-screen most of the time.
@@inkscapepanda Understood :)
@@CTRL_SMarcos But I will try to showcase the values and tweaks on the screen in future experiments.
You can now play Hidden Hands: Blood & Metal
I placed it on the download list. Will give it a play soon these days, but you will have to watch it on twitch as I record all my videos a month in advance. I'll drop you a link when it is done.
Here you go: www.twitch.tv/videos/2245819099 The link will expire in 7 days due to how twitch works. The video is scheduled to be posted way later on the channel.
part 2: www.twitch.tv/videos/2248258768
Could you play Hidden hands: Blood and Metal?
I could not find it in the Download section of the game. I read a bit on the forum and it says it is in beta, so it most definitely is not ready for release yet. But when it comes out I will give it a playthough ^_^
Nice job. So glad you liked it. Tip for next time. The two water arrows at the start, are for the stables. Shoot the cross beam over the table and the beam above the lamp next to bed. Then you can sneak the loot off the table, and there's something in the rafters. The note leads you to two other pieces of loot you missed. There's also a ring behind the table in the passage to the Parlour, and also a ring you missed in the family toilet. :) Was great watching you play and try routes different to how I imaged people would play. There's a ghosted play through on my channel if you want see how I'd play it. lol
I will definitely check your playthrough. I tend to be a bit clumsy and stumble around. Yeah, the stable area was tricky and I didn't think I could pull it off without alerting everyone. I would have liked to have a gas arrow to put them all to sleep at once, by shooting at the table, but I think the game engine is not designed that way.
I'm so glad you're enjoying my level, it's so nice to see someone so appreciative of my efforts. I'll look forward to Part 2. In case you havn't finished it yet, just be careful when you go back into the Stewards room. Put out the wall light. There's a unfixable bug, if he see's you, it breaks the level. So don't let him see you. :) Subbed!
Hehehe, I actually record my videos a month in advance so there will definitely be part 2. You are a super awesome developer and I hope to help others discover your amazing thief-like skills.
@inkscapepanda LOL Thankyou. So nice of you. 😀
I played this game for countless hours and played all builds i found interasting also read all dialog that there is in game i agree to some things you say and disagree with others and i chould talk about it for days. But there is some very interasting deep lore. Small things like six telling you he is interested in tchort because he heard its name and we learn names of godmen are powerfull when you know them (same reason six wont tell us tanners real name) maybe six is interested in tchorts name because it consumed godmen and thus gaind its name. Biocorp had contact with at least one godman because it used its genes along with human ones to create first faceless this can be read at computers i deep caverns. Im just in love with lore of this game and whould love to see more lore added in new projects stuff like megacorp transcendix bc i love psionics and they make most advanced stuff for them. Devs which are my county neighbors are just brilliant people and i wish to see how they expand and uncover more of this masterpiece.
Totally agree, the lore is very expansive and things are difficult to interpret at times. We shall be delighted with the new goodies in Underrail 2! Stay awesome!
cool design you did there and very informative video
Happy to have inspired you. Stay awesome! ^_^

@@inkscapepanda nice knowing you
Thanks for the video. It looks really fantastic 💯
Thanks awesome Marcos!
Thanks for the video. I agree...half-heartedly. I think you are looking at it from a western perspective. People in general have a somewhat elitist view, I think. Their reasoning is: if it's free and open, it's garbage. In the case of Linux, The other side of the coin, i.e. privacy, performance and so many other things are not even raised from the "rich" part of the world. But it is essential for those who, having skills, do not have the means to have the best equipment and thanks to these tools a world opens up. Another reason is comfort. I admit that I started using Linux a little bit out of obligation, due to my weak hardware. Since then I regret not having changed much earlier and I certainly wouldn't go back even if I could afford a NASA computer 😄
I understand, and I do not think that Linux will stagnate in it's embracing by new users in the future as it strives to become more versatile and easier to use. It's just very scary for casual users that want to make the change from another OS and then they realize that some (very few/particular) things require the terminal in order to get things going, or some of their daily workflow software can't be ported and require alternatives. There are also some attention given from Nvidia and Radeon, in the recent years, for developing better dedicated drivers for their hardware support on Linux. Of course, there are other factors that relate to the popularity of Open Source, such as Marketing Campaigns, Industry standards, etc, etc. I do use Fedora-Linux for other activities, and funny enough I can even install the Linux Kernel right within Windows, but sadly I have very specialized software that can't be replaced on Linux, so I am stuck in between working with both of them on multiple Devices.
Its been so long since humans went underground
This is the appeal of the story building. History became the stuff of forgotten legends and we are just stumbling through the ruins trying to figure out the mysteries and intentions of the former powers that ruled the underrails.
Thanks for the video, I always enjoy your experiments 🥼😄
Thanks for the video. Lots of options, although not very polished some of them. I don't know anything about this animation world, but I recently saw a video about a program called Rive app that has a free version and I thought I'd tell you about it because I know how you like to experiment with new things, it has a function called State Machine I think, that works with nodes and has imputs functions and very strange things for me but that I'm sure you're familiar with. It also has a channel with a lot of tutorials 😀
Fantastic work, thanks for the video. Maybe it's a little OCD on my part, but since it's all so rounded, so smooth, maybe the green icon could use a little bit of rounding too, just to kill those hard edges 🤔💯
Hehehe, yeah it would have been more bombastic ^_^
Btw, the next 2 videos that will pop up next week are going to be related to practical applications that you can do with this type of design. I think you will find it quite mind melting how powerful Inkscape is outside of Inkscape 😄
@@inkscapepanda Nice.
maybe you like cleopatra 2525 as well
Wow this looks dope. Will definitely sink my claws into it. Thanks!
Beautiful work. I like them all, but personally I prefer the second one, the one you call mirror 💯
Very nice
I did fix it eventually ^_^
It seems that the issue with the sound was because I had the script introduced both through the SVG file and the Index. Removing the Script line from the SVG (in Inkscape) solves this problem. I also got confused with the object tag as it seems that the script can run from inside the SVG file when you import it. At the time that I was testing this it didn't work as intended, so ignore my remarks about this issue in the clip.
Looks great! Congrats 💯
Thanks awesome Marcos!
Is it possible to do transition FX in Inkscape? I would like to use black & white image/graphic as a transition FX mask that picks up colours from two layers beneath. Is that possible?
Could you please give me an example of how transition FX should look like. There are some advanced things you can achieve in Inkscape and it has Blending capabilities, if that is what you are after.
It looks great!
🤣
That looks devilishly marvelous. Thanks for the video. By the way, slight irony, if you read it backwards, Evil is Live 😈😁
Haha, yeah.. sneaky double meanings!
Very cool! 🙂
57:44 How do we know whole monolith is under surface of the water ?
There are computer logs In the game that describe how they used submersibles to reach the Shadowlith initially. This is also one of the reasons they built the underwater facility afterwards (to study it). Plus the Ferryman makes a lot of references to the "down bellow", but that is more on the philosophical side of views.
@inkscapepanda damn, they do not have these logs on wiki, I'll have to check it out. I was under impression that they found monolith and moved it to station. I remember there is one log that describes how heavy it is to move (did they had to reinforce floor or something?). That would imply what we see in R&D is whole monolith, not part since it was carried and can not be cut off, as they managed to cut part of disk only later. but my memory could have played tricks on me, I'll have to find logs...
@@davdav1370 Yeah, the wiki does have some parts missing, but you have to look at the wiki as an addendum rather than a source.
@@inkscapepanda I was hoping wiki has computer logs from R&D, I was referring to that.
@@inkscapepanda I would love to see these part you mentioned, as I'm first time hearing this, so I'm fascinated. However, are you sure you didn't misunderstood something. I've searched for let's plays, and look at log that describes shadowlith discovery: ruclips.net/video/-R5LC_2inME/видео.html There is explicit mention that monolith is 3m long when found and that it was moved and floor had to be reinforced. There is no mention that it was cut from larger piece. In fact, following logs say that it is impossible to cut, all until they received mysterious disk and finally cut small portion of monolith (which ended up in temple). Do you remember where are logs about how majority of monolith is under sea, in which part of game ?
Very good information, thank you very much. 💯
Interesting, thanks for the video. Now I understand a little better how the filters work. Although that interface needs a lot of love 🤕🤭 But it has a lot of potential.
Definitely. There's one more video related to Component Transfer that will drop soon. I figured that part after I have done this video.
"nation state" doesnt really exist because every state on earth have some other national group(minorities), but i would guess its just a phrase for countries like we have today. WIth a corporations seeking to be counterweight in underrail lore
Fantastic, thanks for the video. Those flowers looks great 💯
I think you will enjoy the future videos that will follow as I have gone through all the filters in detail and there will also be something on how to grapple with XML code. 😁
Swatches drives me nuts . There's an option in preferences to use legacy gradient editor that might help
I already posted this feature request in the Inkscape gitlab, and they are addressing it in one of the future updates. Yeah, swatches do need some more work and we won't see them any time soon in 1.4, but there are big changes coming to 1.5 (probably next year).
To search xml use ctrl-F to open search dialog. Adjust options and enter id to locate. When one is found, open the xml editor and the element with that id will be selected.
You can also select an island and control the vertical and horizontal blur from the blur handlers, but on my screen they were far above my object. Also, I did achieve feathered edges in a previous video, but that requires a lot of nesting and even cloning of the controllers, which is overkill for poor Inkscape just to achieve a simple transitional smoothing.
Never used clip groups before but I was wondering if "edit>clone>unlink clones recursively" would work?
I've also thought of that initially, but it seems that Inkscape only uses that function when the interacting directly with the clones. Clipping stores the clone "outside" of the clipping group you work in, and thus it does not affect it the same way.
@@inkscapepanda I use about 1% of Inkscape's capabilities. When I try to learn something new in Inkscape I come across this "understanding of terminology" issue. Again - in this case - I learn that a clone is not a clone unless it is a "clone". Lol I recently purchased Affinity deigner and I am coming across the same issue. There, Affinity Symbols = Inkscape clones (almost). Affinity Assets = Inkscape symbols (almost). No matter what you call it - they are not going to do what you think they are going to do. LOL
Thanks for the video. It is certainly annoying. But when I see the XML window it scares me as I don't understand anything 😄 So I've done it without using it, but it's still inconvenient. Better with a visual example ruclips.net/video/SBcykJkENTY/видео.htmlsi=HOE6Xdxv3ceWx9Ki
Hehe, I think XML looks scary because it feels so condensed in that tinny panel. I will probably go through the structure in a future video to explain how it works. Releasing a clipping mask manually is easy when you have few of them, but if you would have a ton of duplicates, then doing some text magic tricks in XML can solve things uber fast. Of course, these are very situational and most people won't crash into them, but XML can do some really wild things that are not available through the UI of Inkscape.
@@inkscapepanda This is absolutely true.
Nice, thanks for the video. Isn't it beautiful when you can put things to your liking? I like the simplification of the star, the pen, the subtle change of the 3D cube and the change of the A for the T. And especially the footprint in Preferences 😁
This is the amazing part of using Inkscape, you can change everything and make it your own fork while basing it on the original updates. Even Inkscape started as a fork of Sodipodi.
Thanks for the video, glad to see you here again. Interesting, I agree on some things, I quite like Affinity's user interface and yes, Inkscape can be intimidating at first. But I love that it has its personality and is so customizable. Min 12:45 approx, maybe by default there are unused or underused tools. Well, it's a matter of going to preferences/interface/toolbars and hiding the ones you don't want. Not only that, I can hide the tool in the toolbox and it will still work with a shortcut if I need it. I disable some of them, but I like to have them all enabled by default, because people's workflows are very different. Min. 15:45 approx, in Inkscape there are those options, they are called focus mode (Shift + F11) and even full screen + focus mode (CTRL + F11) From preferences/interface/keyboard you can type focus in the finder and change the shortcuts to your liking. Sorry, this is getting toooo long 😄
Hello awesome @CTRL_SMarcos really nice to hear from you, oh wow I did not know about the Shift + F11, I'm definitely going to make good use of this ^_^ Thanks!
Yeah - the Inkscape UI needs an overhaul. I absolutely adore inkscape and been using it since 2012. I recently purchased the etire Affinity suite about 6 weeks ago. Beautiful user interface but really shy of using a non open source file format. I got really burned on that concept 20 years ago.
To be honest I only went for Affinity because neither Krita or Gimp clicked with me when it came to digital painting, plus the price was reasonable for a "1 time" purchase for all 3 software. But I also tend to stick to open source software myself.
@@inkscapepanda I have to agree 100% of everything covered in this video.
Some predefined Workspace ideas: - General (basic tools for day-to-day vector design) - Artistic (for people who like to do free drawing using Calligraphy and Pencil tools) - Raster (basic tools for editing pixel media) - Science (for mad scientists who like to use precise tools to develop their arcane arts and crafts) - XML/CSS (tailored for people who like to mess with the SVG code) - Experimental (where the most advanced tools are left for people to fiddle with before they adopt them in their workflow) - Export (specifically designed around Export formatting)
Your xbow walkthrough makes me create a new character and try traps/xbow
I love those traps, although towards the end of the game you become so godlike that you even forget to use them. 😄
In 1.3.2 Scatter is named "Distribute Along Path"
Hehe, yes they keep making small changes all the time as Inkscape evolves. Thanks for the update and stay awesome!
It was great to watch this play there (although there are still a few episodes which I managed to miss along the way). I am a bit surprised that you took the "join SGS ending." I'd really expected you to do the "take the train to North Underrail" ending (where your character, in theory, meets Rahm-Umbra, and continues his adventures in the north).
I actually never tried that ending before. I decided to stick to SGS because it felt like a sort of Southerner home, but I am sure that the next game will find a way to make the protagonist decide that it/he/she needs to go up North eventually. This is a really well crafted gem of a game with so many tweaks and quirks along the way, and every playthrough feels like its own journey.
What a wonderful video, this is all you need to know about this vast world in one pill! Thank you.
Play with me Panda
Panda is back
That was really cool! Thanks for sharing it.
