Man I remember that night. You couldn't hear anything the crowd went so wild. My favorite part was the pregame show where they brought out the paper mache shark and harpooned it, then ran it up into the rafters.

This is a bittersweet game/night. Even a rivalry won't get those upper seats filled these days.

I live in Vegas, but I really liked this New Mexico State team. I thought they could have done some damage in the tournament that year, got a real tough draw having to play Loyola Marymount right out of the gate. Nobody was beating LMU that night.

NMSU could have beaten Loyola but their coach changed up their strategy to play them. It was a huge mistake.

I had graduated in 1987 but made the trip down from Albuquerque to see this historic event. Lost my voice and then had to contain myself to get some quotes for the Albuquerque Tribune. So many great games in the Pan Am in the 80s and early 90s but this one plus the great run in 1992 are memories I will always treasure.

I was there! That was my freshmen year at NMSU. Probably one of the best moments of my young adult life! It was especially exciting to see UNLV go on to win the NCAA championships that year. RIP Tark, thanks for the memories.

I watched this game from home. We had made a huge party out of it! Game was awesome from start to finish. I remember tons of high 5s, hugs laughing, and uncontrollable jumping!!! I was 13 years old it was an amazing win for the team. Coach Macarthy put together an incredible team playing an style of basketball. Heck dickie V even came to what he called the pandemonium center...The team was awesome, Las Cruces was awesome. If you're to young to remember those days think Reggie Theus days times 10. I pray we will be back there soon

With all the great players DePaul had over the years, its crazy that if they don't have a new on-campus facility, then they should at least use the United Center for their games (I know they've used it several times throughout the 90s when it first opened). I sure do hope they become a national power again. They've had way too much tradition not to be one.

I was there underneath the north basket. Me and my Aggie Buds, Nick & Jeff. We didn't miss an Aggie game from 1986-1992. This game was THE GAME. We waited until 10:00 to be let in, then everyone ran to get the best seats possible. That was such a great time. I don't care what happened afterwards, Coach McCarthy brought us some serious basketball!

3:40 Haha! Yeah! My Homey Reggie Jordan! Real talk, Reggie is a soldier on that hoop court. Had enough game to make it into the NBA and just retired from the International Leagues a 2 or 3 years back. Big up Reg! NMSU was FULLY REPPED by Chi Town at this time! You got some Hoopers comin' out the ILL STATE!

Was there such thing as a power conference or a mid major during those times of college hoops? I don't think anyone cared what is a power conference or midmajor back then. College basketball was just college basketball.

I saw this game. UNLV was as big as the Lakers at this point and time. Everybody had it in for the Runnin' Rebels. I actually thought UNLV won this game but they didn't. ESPN had went to that Big Monday format where they featured a West Coast game at 11 o'clock. There were always a lot of tired people back East when the Reb's played and I was one of them! I remember them playing agains Santa Barbara, Pepperdine and schools like that. We haven't seen this since those day's. Wow!
