Mozart's Ridente la calma cannot be called an arrangement, since Mozart did not use the entire author's material entirely, but took only the initial theme of the aria and composed his canzonetta based on it. Mozart took a different text, composed a new middle movement and slightly changed the melodic pattern of the main theme. Mozart's arrangements can be safely and unconditionally called the first four concertos - pasticcio for harpsichord and strings and three concertos for harpsichord and strings KV107, based on the sonatas for keyboard instruments Op.5 by J. H. Bachin which the composer does not change a single author's note. And Ridente la calma can be safely called an original author's work by Mozart.

The version with Sumi Jo and La Scala is far better, both the orchestra and the singer. Pity the sound quality for that one is so low.

Il Ritorno di Tobia, Haydn’s Italian oratorio of 1775 with some spectacular additions for the revival of 1784 is well worth investigating; there are at least three recommendable recordings by Dorati, Harnoncourt, and Spering. The libretto is static, undramatic, and basically poor, but the music is stunning. The composer’s name is *Joseph Haydn;* we never refer to JCWT Mozart, so similarly we don’t need FJ Haydn.

What an exciting composer🤗 Very good orchestral execution too🙏 Not completely sure about the tenor though.... I think first of all the recording is not well-balanced- you can't really hear the singer compared to the orchestra, which takes all the space. It's an oratorio. The singer should be the star and center of interest, and the orchestra his support...

A fire destroyed roughly half of Gluck’s musical legacy…A shame for all of us since it occurred. He wrote great music and influenced the next generation including Mozart and his protege Salieri. I have seen three of his operas live and they were all excellent.
