Walk Alongside Carew Castle In South Wales | 4K
I came across this stunning castle on the last day of my holiday in south Wales. This is one of the many castles that stand in the Welsh countryside and coast line. The castle stands on a limestone bluff overlooking the Carew inlet, part of the tidal estuary that makes up the Milford Haven Waterway. The site must have been recognised as strategically useful from the earliest times, and recent excavations in the outer ward have discovered multiple defensive walls of an Iron Age fort. The Norman castle has its origins in a stone keep built by Gerald de Windsor around the year 1100. Gerald was made castellan of Pembroke Castle by Arnulf of Montgomery in the first Norman invasion of Pembrokes...

Well worth it Ian..beaches really change in south Wales and the colour of the sea.. great eating places too in Tenby.. we went in a spooky ancient pub down alittle alley way..little un was abit unsure, but the food was great and the old surroundings.

Only to Cardiff. It was a nice city but the modern seems to be taking over, like with a lot of cities sadly. The castle was great though 👍🏻

Thanks very much Ian, greatly appreciated.. yes, luckily I chose to drive on from a beach we visited and came across this place..fantastic history..I find it really interesting how all these castles are situated and have great surrounding buildings in their hamlets or villages.
