I just realized that the hat that Jimmy is wearing in La Vie Dansant is almost the same as the Panama Jack hat I’ve been wearing every summer for the last seven or eight years. Mine just has a dark blue patterned Hawaiian shirt type band on it. I think Jimmy would have approved. 😁😎👍🏽👍🏽

I saw him in February of 1980 (perhaps it was 79?) at The Time Out (later it became Oscar’s) in Bloomington, IN when I was a student at IU. I have never seen such an energetic and enthusiastic performance in all my life. Just Steve and his guitar. I can still hear parts of that show, including some of his hilarious jokes between songs, forty-four years later.

Wow. Steve was all there by himself, doing what everybody else will never do.

The Cubs pitching staff just pitched a combined no-hitter. Steve would love this comment.

Today marks one year since Jimmy passed. Hard to believe he has been gone that long. With his passing he left a lot of us in shock and disbelief as our Captain was gone. After an entire year, he is still as missed as the day he left us. Sail on sailor… off into the sunset.

Jimmy before Jimmy was The Jimmy. That audience should pinch themselves for being a part.

I prefer Jimmy’s first 6 albums to any of his later stuff. His Key West period can’t be matched. Obviously, I’m in the minority. After “Volcano” it just felt like unintentional self-parody to me. Some of these videos are just awful. For me, the “Come Monday” video is perfection. I grew up on the gulf coast of FL & that video righteously captures the coast vibe of the early 1970s. And it’s beautifully filmed. Too bad the live “You Had To Be There” album wasn’t also a concert video. That was the finest document of what the original Coral Reefer Band was capable of.

I lost my dad in 1986 when I was 12. He was a fisherman who loved the beach. I discovered Jimmy Buffett a few years later and his music always reminded me of the spirit of my father. RIP Jimmy, thank you for the years of comfort.

I was really into JB in the 70s and early 80s but faded out until getting re-hooked in the early 2000s. I'm familiar with the songs, but this MIAMI Vice 40-something JB is unfamiliar. I'm glad it was a passing phase and soon he'd get back into shorts and ballcaps. It's been almost a year, a very sucky year since we lost him. Things will never be the same. Don't tell me to "get over it" this is about as over as I can get.

I was a teen on the Gulf Coast of FL & Jimmy was a BIG DEAL to us. His early albums were like a soundtrack to living on the coast. Until… “Cheeseburger” & “Fins”. The Volcano album. Ugh. Of course he achieved unimaginable success by tweaking his music, but his songs of significance dried up. There’s two kinds of Buffett fans; post-Margaritaville parrotheads & pre-Margaritaville purists.

I can remember where when and who I was with every time I'd hear aJimmy Buffett song. After all these years it still rings true. I love seeing JJW JB and Greg "Fingers" Taylor together here. I couldn't get enough of these guys. Thank you for this and I'll see you in Heaven someday 💗 💓 💗

Jimmy lived life to its fullest and he shared it all with us. His gifts live on and we owe it to him to keep cruising, keep the Margaritaville state of mind, and keep our fins up. I never got to see you in this life and you were number one on my bucket list but you were gone too soon, hope to see you in paradise laughing and having a cheeseburger.❤

Margaritaville TV has been posting 'STAY TUNED FOR FUTURE CONCERT REBROADCASTS' for like the last 6 months. Summer isn't going to last forever...I'd love to see concerts from his last 2 tours that I missed...I miss Jimmy!

I always thought la vie dansante meant “ the dance of life”. This is the album when I started going down the Jimmy Buffett rabbit hole. My boyfriend at the time played, and used to sing a lot of JB songs. My first introduction was a homemade cassette with songs like “ Pencil Thin Mustache”. Still have it somewhere. Got to see him in concert when he opened a Margaritaville restaurant at Universal Studios. We had tickets to Gordon Lightfoot the next night. Didn’t make Gordon, but really enjoyed Jimmy Buffett.

Many years ago working in FLORIDA a pilot was dropping off a New aircraft and telling me about the owner. Never heard of him or did not know who who he wase. But looking into his music and dropping down into the keys. Became a fan. Was as to install a CD changer and told my boss no Into days world no trouble. Kind hope someone did it for him
