Hey mate I'm really interested in buying an Oru Kayak too. If you don't mind me asking, what model is that? I'm tossing up between the Beach and Inlet for some lazy river kayaking, possibly going out into hobsons bay and down to williamstown or st kilda, and some lazy fishing/crabbing. Does it feel sturdy enough to handle going over a few rocky rapids?

Ok, I'd been wondering- was it as bad around there as the floods in, was it 1972? Appears that it wasn't even close! I remember those clearly, even though I was only 5! We lived in Fairfield, and Mum took me for a drive down the end of Yarra Bend rd, in our little dak-dak, to have a look. We couldn't get any further than the play ground just after the Golf House , as almost the entire road loop was under water, the lower oval certainly was, you could see that it was only sandbags keeping water out of the Studley Park Boathouse and Kanes Bridge was substantially damaged, only re- opening many years later....Fairfield boathouse was also structurally damaged, so actually was, at least partially, under water- that's where I determined that it wasn't as bad this time- no problem there! Still scary, and in other areas , and rivers, it may, in fact , have been just as bad, if not worse. But on the lower Yarra- nowhere near it! I'm in Europe now, so I couldn't go have a look for myself.
