Here is my 1987 Chevy K30. It has a fuel injected 454, th400 transmission and a 205 transfer case. Dana 60 front with a corporate 14 bolt rear. I have to finish mounting the bed, wire lights, replace fuel tanks and we should be able to drive it on the roads

@@mikado1555 I’m not sure
@@ChilsonsOutdoors That is hard on the engine. Great way to cook the oil, ruin lubrication in the valves/piston chambers and score them
How much did you pay for it
I can’t recall exactly. Was a few years ago. I think it was around $500.
Those generation GMC & Chevrolet fullsize pickups with the base single square headlights are rare these days.

@@tristatewildlifevt it’s got one. This was a first start in years plus being cold out.
I have the asat truck it is a 1985 GMC c30
@@iramuncy9566 nice! Flat bed?
I'm yanking the 4L80E and putting in an SM465 and a NP205 transfer case. So no more left side differential, and to hell with chain driven cases. My LQ4 is already carbureted, emissions deleted (It's still America in Idaho) I get the same fuel economy as the MPEFI that uses functional TDC to screw with maps and advance whenever doing work on a rough road would effect crank acceleration events. The cold skirt slap making an erroneous knock detection was pure crap as well. This new tech could not win WW2. It's fickle and rittled with Achilles heels. I want a truck, damn it.
Sadly I sold this truck.
Awesome
Thank you
Just ordered mine, can't wait to go at it and try to fix it.
How did it go?
It went well, it was easy, replaced rotors with drilled ones and changed the brakes. Next week imma work on the rear bearings, which I heard are a bit more complicated than front ones.
The pictures were great. Videos would have been better without the music.

I actually drove my Farmall super 8 to tractor home after it sat for 40 years I put fresh gas in it new battery and drove it home the tires still had air in them😊

I’d be so pissed if I bought a John Deere thinking it’s a Kawasaki engine and I get Briggs - only thing worse is if it was a predator
That’s a matter of opinion and it was listed in the ad when I sold it.
That's a big boy, I have an 82 k30 also it's on my channel if your interested
You wouldn't have a picture of the parking brake cable bracket on the transmission would you. I pulled my motor and transmission last fall and can't remember at all what it bolts to.
I can get one
@ChilsonsOutdoors Thank you. I can't find a picture anywhere online. I may have lost a bracket because I can't find any place it was bolted to.
Did you ever get a chance to look at the bracket. Thanks
Yes. Message me on Facebook or Instagram @ChilsonsOutdoors and I can send you the pictures of what I have.
Ok thanks. I'm trying to find you on Facebook now.
It would be super cool if you just polished and cleaned it up, and restored the original livery. It looks like they're all still there. All it would take is a little wet-sanding and polish, and you'd be back in business! It would turn everyone's heads because of its age and the fact that it would look like it's still an active rental.
Yeah that’s kinda my plan when I get to that project
What leaf springs are you running ?
Unsure on brand but they were 10 inch lift springs
I was given this same truck but it was painted white, the truck body was rusted out but the box didnt have a scratch. The motor was covered in rat shit and moss but I pulled a valve cover off and it looked brand new inside. It was rebuilt by uhaul god knows when but probably taken out of commission very soon after. It a FT 331 which i would have never guessed it would be in a 78. I ended up pulling the motor and putting in in my dads 66 galaxy 500 convertible that had a tired 352, it got a lot of goodies bolted on like boss heads, aluminum intake, and headers. It runs surprisingly well. I plan on putting the box on my 78 supercab 4x4 and making a overland rig out of it starting in a couple weeks. I was even given a top of the line truck bed camper from a family member because it had serious water damage but all the windows, appliances, and tanks will be salvaged. Im considering making it a dually, definitely using the 1 ton axle from the uhaul tho. Its probably not getting a lift but going to cut 35 inch bfg muds to fit. I wanna shoot for a more stable ride and look of a military vehicle. Ill fab up fender tubes and sliders low, high, and top so if I need to rub on a tree or rock im covered 😂. Im excited about this one, i have everything except the 7.3L... the gas for the built 460 wont allow me to go very far 😂
That sounds like a great plan
What are the RPM at idle? I replaced the carburetor and its giving me trouble. Thanks!
I can’t recall, I have sold that truck. But a small block should be somewhere between 750-900 rpm
just pay up and get ac,delco do job once,i read where amazon is a certified dealer for ac delco parts so if its shipped right from them then its right what it says,no knock offs,Get the OE parts if not get gold,i wouldnt buy silver ac delco for a labor intense job like this
I don’t have to worry about wheel bearings on this truck anymore since it was rolled
Was that a moog that went bad in a year?It had a blue wire,i wouldnt think you bought that brand agian after a year only life?Wondering cause i just bought 2 moog hubs.LOL
I can’t remember what brand it was.
i just looked at amazon for the hell of it,only ones for these trucks with blue wire is moog, and it has good reviews which is why i bought.Maybe half those people didnt come back and give a real working test review just a install review?LOL..Plus they used to be good just not now is what they say.I can deal with doing it agian as long as it dont leave me broke down or wreck which i should catch a problem before then @@ChilsonsOutdoors

I was surprised as well.
Not running real good, yet! Down a cylinder?
One maybe 2.
Prolly from sitting. Just a lil stuck.
Does yours have power steering
No mine does not
I have the same truck but it's been converted to a dump truck. I can't find parts because 78 f350 does not list the 330 on any site. Any idea where I could find exhaust manifold gaskets for the 330.
I’m not sure. I haven’t messed with my truck yet. Plan to this summer
@Chilson’s Outdoors Ok, thank you
Any FE parts will fit, it's a FT 331, it was only made for one year, it's not even listed for 78 vehicles. But any FE parts will fit. Ohh FT stands for Ford Truck as where FE stands for Ford Edsel.
