What's the actual speed that they get out of these trains.? bj.
In the video we are doing something like 20 mph maybe 21 mph. I think I read in a book somewhere that they think they are capable of going faster
"Scale speed". There is no such thing as scale speed. An object has a velocity or speed and that's it. It doesn't depend on it's size. Is it going 72 mph? No it's not. "But if it was full scale....". Well it's not full scale. So No.
What makes you an expert? Considering the RH&DR driver in the cab said that is what the scale speed was.
@@TheSteamdriver You don't have to be an expert to understand that speed is a definition of distance divided by time that distance is travelled. If any object is going 22 mph, there is no discussion what speed it is going. However, the term "scale speed" is an intuitive concept. But one can not "scale down" physic laws. What the driver probably means, is that if you calculate the distance the loco travels it's own lenght in a amount of time , "scaled" up this would give 72 mph. But that is scientifically not correct, because you take a "real" locomotive as a reference.
Lots of fun! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for posting.
wheres the whistle string attach to on the 828? is there a whistle handle itself?
inside
Marvellous video indeed! My top favourite layout would have to be the Whitmore N Gauge layout because I love it when the 2 steam hauled long haul passenger trains cross each other!
WOW!!!!!
Great video Tim well done
Thank you
I was there as well!

Looks fab, what railway is it?
Amberley Narrow Gauge. It's the railway that runs at Amberley Museum
Cheers mate!@@TheSteamdriver
You're welcome
Are you buy the toy in ohio Edit:omg my first like
No I brought this in the uk from Mamod themselves
Looks good tim
All Aboard. All Aboard. Enjoy the ride.
You're a really useful engine.

My KS Victory is wrapped up under the Christmas Tree, so I am looking forward to it! Thanks for uploading.
What great loco, I agree I don't like over weathered locos either. Thank you for the review I am very tempted.
Thank you if you do buy one I would suggest buying them direct from light railway stores as that way if you want it customised for you can talk to them directly about it. Where as Rails Of Sheffield I believe are just doing the clean versions
She looks fantastic! The weathering certainly looks better than I expected, considering it was optional and not a variant like I have seen Hornby and Bachmann do. I'm presuming they took a ready-made model and applied the weathering after the rest of the paintwork had been done so to see it not being overdone or barely noticeable is fantastic to see. The nameplates also look fantastic, really crisp and fantastically painted. A great model befitting of a great review, well done
Thank you the weathering is fantastic and you are right this is a ready made example that they then weathered when it got to there offices.
Best reviewof the locoI've seen so far!
Thank you I was just trying to do something different as the other 2 reviews I have seen have pretty much been the same
Is that digital device a speedometer if not how does the driver know how fast they are going
Yes it is a speedo. If that wasn't there then I am sure they would know somehow, a lot of steam locos on other heritage railways don't have speedos.
@@TheSteamdriver cool thank you for replying
Your welcome
Nice one tim
It would have been nicer if twofills was able to be used. But I can understand why it wasn't available
Fantastic video 😉👍️✨ Thank you for sharing :)
Looks good!
True and I’m curious if there is any like cars or people or a delivery or a test drive
I'm sorry I don't think I understand what you are asking
yeah they have passenger cars usually about 10 of em'

What a lovely mixture of locos,2890 looks very old as did the first one. Enjoyed 👏🏻👍
Looks can be deceiving 2890 is a austerity 0-6-0st rebuilt in to a tender engine. Where as Caledonian Railway 828 is a victorian loco and is over a 100 years old. Fun fact 2890 is meant to look like Douglas from Thomas The Tank Engine and 828 is the real life basis for Donald and Douglas who appeared in Thomas The Tank Engine
@@TheSteamdriver aha! Interesting stuff, still great to see these old designs being as effective as ever 👍
@@Shelfandtabletoplayouts00gauge yes it's nice seeing these things. Although I do wonder at 34 years of age I am going to be one of the last people seeing a steam loco with proper steam coal and I also wonder how long does steam have left. And heritage diesels as well for that matter
Spa valley is always great!
The tracks a bit bumpy
Unfortunately that is going to happen as we don't have a premises where we can keep the layouts up 24/7 so they get put up and taken down each week.
Enjoyed your latest video thanks for sharing.
Your welcome. It was a very enjoyable day
@@TheSteamdriver Thanks very much for replying to my comment. I enjoy watching other people's work to get idea to improve my Channel. Take care DD
Well done tim just what was wanted great vidio.
Thank you Peter
Did he say the fastest they've been is 45mph and can do 75mph?
I said it feels like that I was doing 75mph am not sure they could do that but it does feel like that your doing that
@@TheSteamdriver I can imagine, being so close to the ground and on such a small engine!
what gauge is this?
2 foot narrow gauge
Jealous ._.
Amazing catches of the train coming by and depart from the stations, i like it 5 stars, keep up the great work, i subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal.
Thank you

Poor quality leather gloves … unconfident hand
I disagree about the gloves as I have had them for years and they are still holding up well compared to some other gloves I have had. The unconfident hand I will agree with because I have never done anything like that before
He's done ok well done
Thank you very useful, I don’t suppose you know what colour it was painted when new? I’ve seen it in Yellow Ocre and the green shown here
I'm sorry I don't know what colour it was painted when new. Have you tried asking the Llanberis lakeside railway? They might know.
They where the new network rail wagons only been in the country a few weeks, built in Poland.
Nice video. Think I was talking to you there on Wednesday
Possibly if it wasn't me it might have been my friend in the leather jacket
Nice 20s
Lovely catch, she sounded beautiful purring away as she passed in your evening shot. I saw her at Barnham, Bosham and Fratton! I’ve subscribed 🙂
Thank you
@@TheSteamdriver you’re welcome 🙂
Great video but someone has a funny idea about the Orient Express! I saw her at Tonbridge!
Yeah it was one of the station staff and apart from the trains they have to dispatch they don't have the foggiest about them
Did this a couple of years ago on the RHDR. Phil is an excellent tutor and very patient with people. A must experience for anyone with an interest in railways.
Thanks Michael glad you enjoyed the experience that's what we like too hear at rh&dr and thanks for the compliment on tutoring as you know it's alot too take in driving a romney engine but thanks again hope too see you on the railway in the future
Hi Phil if your the driver in the video I can't remember if I said thank you to you on the day, if not then I would like to say thank you if I did then thank you again. I am hoping to be back in a couple of years for the gold course
Yes I was your driver for that day and not a problem as long as you enjoyed your self that's what we like too hear
I enjoyed it very much and I wish I could visit it more often
Wow
Interesting fact: up until 2015, this was not a tourist railway. Despite its small size and gauge, it was used as a legitimate commuter and freight line.
Yep and it was also apparently responsible for bringing down a luftwaffe plane
Isnt it still used for school runs as well?
No that stopped I think in 2015
@@TheSteamdriver Yes. That's what I said.
