Performed a compression test and 2 of the 4 cylinders had little to no compression. Thinking it was the rings I decided to adjust the valve lash which helped significantly. I also finished the transom which you'll see toward the end of the video.

Installing hood hinges on the WetJet
Просмотров 714 месяца назад
I figured it was past due for another upgrade. So I added OEM hood hinges off a later model. Very nice feature and convenient compared to having to take off the entire hood to do any sort of maintenance. I also did some much needed TLC later in the video by replacing the handle grips and rear jet shield. Hope you all enjoy.

Thermostat doesn’t effect the water coming from the exhaust
Fill the oil from the drain plug at the bottom not through the top. Air pockets can give you a false reading. Those out drives are very sensitive to oil level. I cooked one
Nice progress. Once the motor gets some heat into it, maybe the rings will free up.
Thank you
cool project man. It's starting to come together now.
Great job so far bud...I'm not going to lie - I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out!...much respect from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼
Love it! Maybe add stud length and build spacers using wood or phenolic material for the intake.

How was the rear shackle? What was the process? The only part that you unbolt is the shackle, correct?
@@Re-DeclarationOfIndependence yes. Spring stays in. Unbolt the shackles from the frame and spring.
@@Tylerjschmidt nice thanks bro. That bolt is really stuck in there, had to get bigger tools.
@@Re-DeclarationOfIndependence are you up north?
@@Tylerjschmidt it’s been on the west coast. Pretty mild climate.
@@Tylerjschmidt was yours easy to get off?
This does not work for 97 to 01 XJs, center console isn't the same.
Having the same problem with my AW4 now. It has 500,000 miles on it. When cold it stays in first until it warms up usually three to four minutes. Then a hard shift the rest of the gears work okay. I had a problem with first and second gear hard shifting several years ago and it turned out to be the computer. I have to trouble shoot it but suspecting the solenoid. I have a theory but just that the solenoids after so many years are damaging the Tranny computer. I need to do more research on it.
The rubber coil spring isolator needs to go in between the puck and the coil springs...
Appreciate the videos. Very helpful.
You need to protect the bottom of the engine. Not really designed for what you are doing. Good luck with your project
@@ianmitchell3725 I will be installing a trans. I’m not leaving it open like that.
Good move Former boat builder. Transoms comes in handy
Would suggest pulling the motor apart
Thanks a lot
Lmfao Those two pieces of diamond plate You just screwed up big time what that's going to do is going to drag water in and flood your motor out I promise you just watch and see bro I'm laughing my ass off right now
Okay the more I watch this and the more I watch this the sicker I get brother if you're going to put that motor in the water like that it'll never lasts you you're going to lose spark you're going to lose the the flywheel is going to get wet it's not going to work right cuz it has a rubber grommet on it you're going to destroy that little motor that is not made for that and it looks like shit
Whatever you say Mr. Critic.
@@Tylerjschmidt bro I'm not a Critic I just know what's going to work and what's not going to work that is not going to work I promise you when you have problems with it please send me a message and tell me I was correct
@@joeclark9042 I’m working on it today as a matter of fact. I already water tested it. It floats fine. Just gotta finish up a couple things. I’ll keep this conversation in mind when something goes wrong. Only time will tell I guess.
And just to let you know brother you're going about this all the wrong way that pontoon boat is not set up for an inboard outboard motor you better off with the 75 horse the 755 horse motor is 10 times better than that little Volvo I'll try to help you as much as I can bro
Well I just seen this but I wish people would know well I hope they would know what they're working with the distributor is not the camshaft the valve cover on the top when he took the valve cover fell off that's not the camshaft either that's the rocker arms I think if you're going to work on something you better understand what you're working on first and then how to work on something so my suggestion is take and run some diesel fuel in the top of that motor so cleans out that oil pan and if you have any questions brother please let me know cuz that's what I usually do is work on boats
I know what a camshaft is dude and so do you, sometimes my mind is going a mile a minute and I’m don’t realize I mispronounced a mechanical component until after the fact. Shit happens!
I seen one of these builds years ago. It was amazing.
When this motor goes out. That sum bitch is getting a V8.
WHY on earth don’t they make these things with high and low beam options on OER parts?
I've got me a Buick V6 and electric shift OMC outdrive that I'm thinking about installing on my pontoon boat. You've done a real good job installing your setup. I'd like to see how it goes on the water.
Hi, can you tell me how far apart the shafts are from center to center on the jackshaft and the center of the bottom shaft to the center of the rear axle bolt and can you show and tell how you did the rear sprocket plate for the wheel and you did not show how you did the sprocket from the motor to the first sprocket on the top shaft the chain from the motor and the chain is 420 what did you use for that sprocket? I think this bike looks good.
Watching this do I can put back all of the lines the previous owner cut and plugged. Without the charcoal can, the smell of gas is so strong when I drive it gives me headaches. There's nothing to gain from cutting it out.
Excellent work
Lol! Put the spring on the kickstand first. Second, attach the spring to the frame. Third, finally, put the pivot bolt in while holding the kickstand in the most 'up' position! The spring is in the least stretched position when up against the stops. Works great on all my Hondas
3 chains instead of one chain is 3x more reliable, right?
Nice work, resembles a Fat Cat.
It basically is one.
@@Tylerjschmidt I have an 1986.
@@Goomer hard year to find
cool was that a three wheeler?
Yes. 1985 Atc 110
How come you connected the brakes backwards? The front brake should be on the right and rear on the left or am I missing something?
Honestly it doesn’t matter. That’s how I always had them.
I know it doesn't matter it just seems strange to me, never ridden a bike with the brakes backwards. Do you also put the clutch on the right instead of left on your bikes? I'd kill myself on a bike with the front bake on the left, much the same as using your clutch foot on the brakes when driving a manual (stick shift) car, you'd press way too hard as you're used to pressing the clutch to the floor ;) Loving the project, can't wait to see it finished 🙌 😀
Looking forward to part 2!
not many parts available for Volvos, good luck
Nice! I have thought about a similar conversion for mine!!! Lot cheaper than a used $7k outboard.....
Inboards are much easier to work on and cheaper, I think.
diesel fuel is a great way to loosen that up a lil bit, cheap too. compared to 237 cans of brake clean :)
Best of luck to you !! Saving a good engine from the scrap yard and thinking outside the box. This is a story worth telling !
Believe it or not, this footage dates back around late 2022 and I’m just now releasing it. I got more videos on this project coming though.
Hi, what is the gas tank from, and when you can show how you did the sprocket for the jackshaft the one from the engine to the first one on the top shaft thanks I will be watching this build very nice and I like how it looks.
I will show the jackshaft in the next video. And the gas tank came off a 71 Honda cb700
@@Tylerjschmidt Hi, thanks for the reply back and thank you for the info I look forward to your next video I would like to build a bike like this someday it is cool do you ever think about building a buggy and doing a video?

@@Tylerjschmidt ok, I will look for it when will it come out?
@@stevenpleasant5834 still editing. It will be sometime this week.
Is that Matt gates😂
Where did you order your part at. Mine is the same way
It was a junkyard find. I didn’t order anything.
When you refill the system leave the top heater hose loose off the water pump. The system will fill fast and when it comes out the hose or water pump your system is almost full. Re attach the hose, top it off and go.
This is 1 reason I don't use ATF4! DEX/MERC only for mine! It never hurts to snugg all the bolts up on the valve body while ya got the pan off also!
noob question i can use one ground wire, split it and connect it to the 2 ground terminals? or just use jumper wire?
Either one is fine. I normally use jumper wires.
Your oil pressure will go all the way to the right when it's not hooked up.
Nice video
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing this!
Would this also keep the jeep from starting like turn key nothing?
Depending on your situation. Do you have power at all? Like dash lights or anything. Does the starter turn over? If so it’s an engine problem. No power at all, Check for power at the ignition switch. It’s the thick red wire, sometimes yellow but usually red. But first make sure your battery is charged and connections are cleaned. I’m sure you know that already, but always start with the easiest things first then work your way up to that point.
@@Tylerjschmidt I need some help so previous owner bypassed the ignition and put a push botton start in ( still have to turn key to get power to everything) worked well yesterday went to start it nothing hit button couple times work went back out today to start nothing will not start have power to everything else I have changed the starter coil and the ignition module still nothing I can get it to roll over by jumping coil any help please I hate electrical stuff
