I think Jim is punishing himself for what he did by withholding the truth of his lovers husband from her. I don't think anyone expected him to be with this lady in the end. He is just doing something because I think he feels guilty and sad. As someone else pointed out, jim looks unhappy and he clearly isn't in love with the waitress but his character is the type of man that would stay in an unhappy relationship and go through the motions just like he did in his marriage. There was no passion between he and his wife. Just going through the every day motion which happens in long marriages sometimes. Jim is the kind of guy who will show up on time to his wedding not because he is in love but because you told him to be there. If there were a part 2, I could not imagine him being satified and happy at all in this relationship. I would be really shocked if they stayed together and had a happily ever after. The entire mood of the ending is a man who is not estactic about this new relationship or partner.

That's why you have drug problems all over the world especially among white people of English, Irish, Scottish descent bad karma. When england imported silk, tea, porcelain from china in the days of cannons. CHINA wanted to be paid in silver. China needed nothing from England. So england grew opium in India and sent it to china to get back silver creating drug addicts. Though china invented gun powder their navy was inferior. When a Chinese general burnt a shipload of English opium, the English businessmen had england bring the navy as retaliation. China lost and had to give hong kong to england till 1997. That is one of the stories of the opium war. Supposedly england stole trillions of silver from India while it was their colony. Probably the silver was used to pay china. What else did England steal from their colonies and India.

He needs someone, he doesn’t know who will be. He lost and hugging, kissing sex with whoever available. He lost soul, he want his soul back from the hell. I want to save him though.

Lots of people hate this movie bcs of the moral issues they have with it. But I loved it. It hit so close to home bcs when my parents divorced when I was younger I never really understood how things could happen like that. Watching this now that I’m older I still don’t think that these characters make the right choices but I did understand a bit better how these things can happen. Idk if that made sense. Also the sort of home-y and awkward vibe in the movie made it feel so raw and vulnerable. It really wasn’t made to be beautiful and really shows how bleak things can be.

I feel so bad for Jim in this movie. I love how he was always sensitive to the needs of all his loved ones around him, his kids, wife even sensitive to Yvonne. And sadly no one was same towards him. He lost his kids, lover, wife. Abandoned by all.. and since he found the escape from his loneliness in Orla may be he dint want to leave her because he was sensitive about Orla as well. And he clearly isn't in love with her. Yet he chose to remain because he don't have the courage and that kind of strength anymore.

Ive been trying to find this song and this scene for years. i saw this scene on my tv and it’s just ended without me knowing anything and ive been trying to find ‘a movie when the couple dance in the living room at the end’ and i couldnt find a thing. until this video popped up randomly at my homepage.
