Sonic Origins heavily nerfed CD's ending scene if Im being honest and the your too cool part actually being to fast for you to actually see it fully so the top of the screen gets cut out. Also fun fact you can see almost the normal cut scene in origins by doing time attack up until you hit a requirement (I think under 25 or 35 minutes)

The ending tells us that Stardust Speedway was supposed to be the last zone and Metal Sonic was supposed to be the final boss of the game. It actually makes sense that the last thing in the way of saving the planet from robotnik was a metal robot version of you with all of your powers.
