How do you ensure residence time at part temp? What the technique without opening the doors? I just read about that this past week.
Simple answer, I used 4 thermocouples embeded in a sample shutter in 4 different locations and recorded the temp every 15 seconds with a data logger. Ran some trial runs to see when part temp is reached and curing starts. This is an interesting phenomenon as you need to verify the curing of the powder not just the temperature of the part. If we imagine what an ideal scenario is, it is the part temp at cure temp immediately and we just run for a set time. That would be a rectangle so its just temp multiplied by time equals that area under the curve. In reality we end up with a fast rising curve that slowly flattens out to the asymptote of the oven set temperature. So from the data logging file, I plotted it in excel, and created a curve of the part temp over time. From this curve in excel you can have excel create a formula. I then ran the integral of that equation finding the area under the curve. I then just compared the area of ideal cure to my actual cure and found the duration needed to reach full cure establishing a relative time of the part in the cure temp zone. In the end I found initial set temp of 475 deg for 7 minutes brought the part temp up quickly and didnt overheat the part or stress the oven. I then drop the set temp to 425, it takes some time for the oven to cool to that temp so that is factored in as well. The parts then run at 425 for the remainder of the time required for full cure. Is this the best way, probably not but it is the most scientific way I could devise without sending multiple samples of "cured" powder out for analysis. I have tested using the MEK wipe test for cure and we do it periodically to verify everything is going according to plan. Hope that helps
looks good but you need a mask!
How creaky do these get after 1-2yrs? How the bees 🐝🐝🐝 like Aluminum over wood too?
We order all of our traditional hardware from lynncove.com/ we have not heard any complaints about squeaking! As for the bees, they are not attracted to aluminum.
AWESOME
We'd love to help you out if you need shutters!
I love these videos 😂
🫶
Stop the hate
cringe
No?
Help I'm genuinely scared right now LOL
So tired of seeing new houses go up with veneer this and veneer that. Faux this and faux that. I built functional cedar shutters and got so many compliments from neighbors. My old plastic ones were like tote lids that had wasp nests in them. Its like a pocket square on a suit. You dont need it, but, man, it completes the look and sure as hell comes in handy when you need it.
Yes, you are so right!
Got beautiful Bahama shutters that work great! Very glad to have them ….only wish I hadn’t gotten white ones…not easy to clean hanging out third floor windows…🤨
Oh yes, they are unfortunately not immune to pollen, dirt, and bird you-know-what! We did have to use a lift to install these.
That's actually really good scrap. Many smaller projects can use that
For sure! We can make some smaller shutters as well.
I have the same issues lol, but they look very promising
Yes! We did keep these and were able to use them for other projects.
I say be a hoarder. You could totally use that scrap for something! Theres always a use!
Yes! We try to use as much as we can!! If we can't use them we can luckily recycle aluminum.
It’s the same with me but with old tech like iPhones iPods iPads and laptops😂
Too funny!
Can relate! Hahaha
Yes! The feeling is so real.
Sounds like she's already gone insane! LOL 😂😅
She's always been a great actress
Gross
What are the shutters made of? Do you paint them in custom colors? What price point am I looking at?
Hi! Our Bahama shutters are made from aluminum, they can be painted with any Sherwin Williams color or color matched with a chip, or you can choose powdercoat! As for the pricing, it depends on the style and size that you choose. Everything is built custom. You can email us at team@scshutters.com or you can fill this form out on our website to get started: scshutters.com/contact/
Do world a favour and stop posting this kind of fake & meaningless shit
Perfect use of audio
Thank you! We thought it was great!
What temp do they need to run at brother?
Depending on exactly what we are doing can be anywhere from 325 degrees to 475!
You guys are a bunch of clowns😂
We love having fun!
Annoying
Who the hell wants to block their windows in ?
Great Question! Many people use these for protection from the elements (areas with high winds, rain, etc.) or some people don't want to deal with excessive heat in rooms that get too much sun. And then there are people who live super close to their neighbors and use them for privacy!
This..
Sto?
Crowbar...
How are they functional when they only cover half the window? Maybe "functional" has a different meaning where you come from.
Hi! Yes you're only seeing one shutter being demonstrated in this video! Each shutter on either side of the window can close which would cover the whole window. To truly be functional, you would add a latch system to your shutters which would then keep them closed.
Amazing😮
Thank you! We love real shutters.
To each their own. However, non-functional shutters (those whose two halves do not completely cover the window and lock securely when closed) are totally pointless. I have a brick house and so long as I own it, there will never be shutters put on it.
Hi! Most of our clients don't actually close their shutters but they always have the option to!
how is that functional when it does not cover the entire window and lock?
Hi! So if you want to "lock" the shutters you would close both of them on either side of the window and add a latch system in the middle to lock them. However, most people choose shutters with functional hardware for the look and do not typically lock them.
Umm, no, people choose non functional hardware for the look. This is absolutely a waste of money.
For the shutters to work properly ( to prevent flying debris from brraking your windows during times of high winds, or storms) the shutters must meet in the middle of the window and must lock from the inside of the home.
@southerncraftedshutters hey its putting food on the table and you're working for yourself he'll yeah
Also hurricane shutters
Yes, some styles Bahama shutters are hurricane rated as well.
Great info! I'd recommend copying the description and putting it in the comments as well, because most people either don't know or won't bother to open the description for shorts. :D
Thanks for the feedback! :)
They are unaffordable in today's economy
We were going with new Bahama shutters!
The window is my fav
Hm, but which shutters are your favorite?
The third one’s like the window the villain climbs into in my dreams
The Bahama shutter?!
@@southerncraftedshutters yeah lol
Bahama shutters - common on the coast...at least here in Texas they are
Yes! We get so many different names for them, plantation shutters, Bermuda shutters, hurricane shutters, etc. We call them Bahama shutters as well. :)
They won't even close right on the window...lol....
It's a pet peeve for us...
The shutters dnt match the window is the only thing I can see wrong
Yes! Too tall and too skinny.
