Unboxing Calvert Racing Caltracs and Split Mono Leaf's.
Just a quick rundown of how everything came for my 72 Mustang Mach 1's leaf spring upgrade. These are the 6400 drag profile traction bars and 640-35 split mono leaf's (1" lift) for my car.

I take the TORCH to my Mach 1 Mustang.... find out why!

I'm just getting rid of some really old and ugly undercoating in the wheel wells today. Heat worked best for me after chipping away the loose stuff. Audio recording is off due to trying a different camera and wearing a respirator for the fumes.
72 Mustang Mach 1 Suspension teardown! Getting ready for the QA1 coil-over upgrade!

Find here my first attempt at actually filming as I work on my car; The front suspension on this thing shows signs of many of these parts being original; lets roll the dice working left handed and poorly videoing the process! Make way for some new shiny parts!
A bit of Mustang action from the 1/4 mile a while back.

Just a little video a spectator sent me a while back a day at the track is always fun in the mach 1! Running my 4v 351c (Cleveland)before getting the converter sorted out.

Just a quick clip of my mach 1 at Idle with some little throttle blips muffler free while I change up the exhaust. 4V headed cleveland around 10:1 compression and a Lunati mechanical cam.

Just a little bit of testing prior to going with an axle swap; This just wont do.

The Gps is incredibly laggy but thought it was neat to put in there. Not a particularly good run of mine but still managed a 13.0@ 109.6 B. Hatfield ran a nice 10.04@134 Took place and Medicine Hat's Drag strip.

First time taking my SHO to the track; this was my 2nd run; ran a MPH of 108 on the first run but botched the launch so it was only a 13.3 et. This run was 13.12 @ 106 DA is 3767ft Weight with driver was 4560lbs I know I can get more out of it with some practice and playing around. Only got 2 good runs in both were 13.1 Livernois tune, Corsa Catback on stock tires.

Just enjoying a nice day, taken with my sony action cam. audio might get removed due to song in the background.
Healthy - where in Alberta brother?
Medicine Hat, try to take it to the drag strip whenever I can

Just finished the 3 inch exhaust on my 68 with a moderately built Cleveland. I apologized to my neighbors in advance….
AMEN!!
Absolutely beautiful best engines ever...
At least nobody got hurt !

My ears. I've never been graced with a better sound than the 351c
What a ripoff. There is nothing here informative. You got something in the mail!?! I want my time & money back.🙃
haha; sorry; this was literally just to show what comes in the box; I wasnt sure what to expect while ordering with my car having staggered shocks and a larger then stock rear axle. Knowing what the shock mount plate looked like would have been nice before I ordered. I do have them installed now and will try to get some comparisons in whenever I can next get to the track.
Nice sound. I have two of these, one 73 351c2v and one 71 351c4v. This sounds make me want to rebuild 73 with flat top pistons and cam and 71 throw in a cam to make them rumble close to that
Cleveland's respond extremely well to a properly sized camshaft and free flowing exhaust
memories indeed.... of my neighbor back in the late 70s early 80s and his two 70 Mach ones with 351C's one was practically a race car and scared the ever living bejesus out of me..... i feared it as kid.... but OMG.... 13.5:1 compression, solid cam, rollcage, 4spd, and slicks makes a sound that is pure music to the ears.... also while being scared lol canted valve iron heads...... and a solid cam... just pure joy (i'm a lot older now lol)
They become a different animal when you rev them past 7000 thats for sure, my late father ran clevelands in his 69 for years and was blown away when I took him for a ride with this motor in the 72 he got me when I was 16. He always stuck with hydralic flat tappet cams; Clevelands like to rev, just gotta do it right.
Sounds good but the only problem is that it costs a little over $3000
yes, was $1200 when mine was acquired. far more reasonable then todays pricing.
What engine mods do you have besides that wicked cam to get it sounding like that??
well the cam requires the heads to have screw in studs so the valvetrain can be adjusted; It also had single groove stainless valves installed and dual springs to control them to 7200rpm. It has hooker longtube headers (open in the video) with 3" collectors. Up top is a torker intake and fast ezefi. Bottom end was a bone stock rotating assembly aside from the cam, good timing set and restrictors in the oil passages with factory flat tops running 9.8:1 static compression.
Too nasty!
Did you ever get the QA1s installed? im thinking of getting them for my '73
I had a 1971 fastback mustang with a 351 cleveland back in 1980.Bought it with 57,000 original miles on it.It was brown. The nicest ride I have ever owned.Quick too.
Sounds like an awesome unit!
awesome!
😁👍👍👍👍
is that u merc man
not merc man, but I am a merc fan!
Sounds like it needs a tune up? Did you forget to put oil in it?
I had that same motor in my 72 coupe. Now it has a 331 cubic inch 5 liter.
Bet thats a cool little motor! the 8.2 deck block is nice and compact. scream when built right too! I'm working on a 393 cleveland currently for this one; video is on a bone stock rotating assembly.
71 ?
72 on the mach 1's the only real difference is the gas cap from 71-72 body wise
Nothing like solid lifter sound, have to tune them more but damn that makes a man hard in a heartbeat.
FUCK THIS NOISY SHIT
I love your flats man thats the good stuff! Hot engine man 🤘
Yeah man; I considered going a bit bigger for the 393 but with the way flat tappets are right now I'll stick with this cam for a while it will still pull strong to 6500 in the 393 too.
Car needs a 4 speed
considered that; for now the auto suits it's intended use well. I have options for driving a different old mustang with a toploader and vgate too.
Looks like it's got mudders for rear tires!
And still didn't like to stick the launch if you did it wrong even with a locker and 325/50/15 drag radials (they are old tho to be fair... with a 4000 stall and 4:11's)
Cam specs?
.597/.606 lift 276/284 duration 110* lsa solid flat tappet

Buy a mustang if you want v8 sound. Making a v6 sound like a v8 makes a v6 sound worst
This sounds nothing like a v8.....It sounds like the turbo v6 it is. Oh, and I already have a mustang. The video of it's cam has 145,000 views.
Nothing beats the sound of old school Carby V8s.
Oohh the metallic gallop of a clevo!!
Which cam is it ? sounds good

I'm more of a Chevrolet guy, but around 1988 I worked on a hog farm, and we had a flat bed truck, maybe 1.5 ton, with a 351 Cleveland, ran good, and plenty of pulling power, matter of fact, I would juice it a little to hard pulling a cattle trailer full of feeder pigs, and broke motor mounts twice, wouldn't know until power steering quit working, would snap hose when engine twisted too much.
I drove a 73 mach 1 in high school
Wtf that sounded like it was 800 horse.
oooh that would be nice; this engine is a bone stock rotating assembly with all the speed tricks I could muster on old iron on a budget. Rus almost as fast as my lightly modded taurus SHO (twin turbo awd v6)
Call a tow truck.
only time it's needed a tow was when it's distributor failed.
Music to my ears
Music
Panty dropper!!
This does put a smile on my face
I have dropped so many privates for leaving a creeper laying on the ground like that! I may have let this one go though just to listen to this all day long.
Appreciation for the leniency, I was in the midst of fitting the exhaust together; among other things.
Bad Ass
Hey bro there is no worse sound on gods earth than a totally stock ass engine with a bullshit camshaft and open headers in fact your car sounds exactly like the worse sounding car on earth .
Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Even wrong ones.
Personally The FE ford engines sound great too I think a little better than the small blocks but that's just me. This is awesome sounding
Fe's are a very interesting engine. Only one I have in the family is my mom's 64 merc stepside with a 352 that's been freshened up. Not exactly a performance unit in that trim but it sure has its gusto! Ahh well I guess the third had a 390 in it too back.in the day. That thing would move that heavy car handily
@@troyberg65 yes the FE engines are some of the strongest engine you'll find in pulling power
I'm 70 and just some facts from a Mopar dude, worked on these 351 'sgood solid set up ,But my SUPER CUDA always enjoyed them for SUPPER ,the 383 and the 440 hemi's were to strong the HARDER YOU PUSHED THE HEMI's the better they ran !Chevy and Ford cams were not as advanced loob as mopars!!
My uncle has a 71 cuda with a 440 6 pack build with edelbrock heads. It's beastly but been I storage forever. He's putting the motor in an old sedan to have some fun with it temporarily. They really are strong. Don't get much chance to line up with old molars these days, but run ing the srt8 challengers is always interesting
