    I can appreciate your review as I plan to fly Cathay from California to Manila, the first time since before 2020. I last flew them the summer of 2019 and have always enjoyed my experience with them. They're the only airline I flew to MNL. Would you recommend flying EVA but having miles credited to an aeroplan account? Or should I have them deposited to an EVA mileage acct?

    • @allons.y

      It depends on a lot of factors but if Aeroplan is your main loyalty program then I think it makes sense to have the points credited there even if flying EVA. That’s actually what I did since aeroplan is the loyalty program I tend to get the most mileage from and their partner redemption rates are great as well. But if you tend to mainly fly EVA it might make more sense for you to credit to EVA instead of

    I flew with Cathay a few years back. I didn't like the seats in the economy compared to others. The worst was the unfriendly staff. Very impatient when I observed them with others and myself. The best service I ever received was Singapore and Korean Air. They are very attentive to details and customer service.

      @allons.y 16 дней назад

      You have to pay a fee if you are booking basic fare. Anything above basic fare you get seat selection. Or you can wait 48 hrs before the flight and seat selection will be free then as well

    Hi! Does the 777-300er Premium economy have their own bathrooms exclusive to PE and not regular economy. On the map of the plane it looks like there are no washroom at the front of Premium and only at back to which economy seats can also access?

    • @allons.y
      @allons.y 17 дней назад

      There are no washrooms at the front of PE only at the back. They are exclusive to PE and there is a sign on the door that says the washroom is only for PE passengers only. The FAs are pretty good about directing people to the correct washrooms, but I suppose it's possible for someone from economy to 'sneak' into the PE washrooms if the FA does not notice.

    I flew Cathay on 5 flights earlier this year and the only problem I found was that the crew generally seemed understaffed. Maybe 2-3 more crew per cabin will fix that. Besides that I think Cathay is on the way up again, they’re partnering with many Michelin star restraunts for their on board dining, they’re releasing new seats (although their reverse herringbone is my favourite seat in the sky), they recently put out a new safety video and boarding music, they’re renovation and building 3 new lounges, they just ordered 30 brand new A330-900neo’s to replace their orders A330-300’s and they also just announced the aim to add 20 more destinations by the end of 2025. Honestly I think we all just need to have some faith in Cathay because I really think that they can be just like SIA again one day.

      @allons.y 20 дней назад

      They’ve definitely had a tumultuous past few years but the upcoming changes definitely look promising. I’m also really excited to see the new Aria suites and the lounge renos and new aircrafts are great news as well. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. They’ve always been a favourite of mine so I would love to see them get over these bumps in the road🤞🤞

    EVA is a good airline except they are more expensive than other airlines. I would think PE is good because you are in your own section with a lavatory. Because there is a small section for PE you get your food faster than if you were in economy. Also with EVA you get two extra sides than economy.

    Great review, and good to know about the delta between economy and premium economy. I've never flown EVA so this is super helpful. Keith has often talked about how great their business class is compared to other airlines but I don't believe he's flown premium economy so this is a good intro for me. Sorry for the judgemental comment! I didn’t really go through the whole video and it’s certainly nothing personal, but after watching from @19:13…🙏🏻 i think one of the reasons that we have low morale is because we’re getting paid almost 50% less and the company still expects us to do 150%. And our passengers have such a high expectation for us because of the former us. That really stresses us out. Like what you mentioned in the video, we aren’t being extremely friendly because we are tired and we are sick of the company lying and exploiting us, but then again i really do think there’s a reason for those who stay. I am really truly content to see my passengers smile, even though i am exhausted and not happy working for this company. YOU are the motivation that keeps us going. I like when seeing my passengers happy even when things happen. I like when they credit my hard work, my preparation as I’m telling you I remember every single name in business class, at least in my responsible aisle. It may not be MR jackfreksondave but Jack will do! I love when hearing my passengers say thank you instead of taking everything for granted that we’re their servant, technically we’re, but you know what i mean. It makes me so happy serving people. That’s why i stayed.

      Thank you for the background and sorry to hear that the company does not seem to value the hard work you put in. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the crew as I know they need to handle a lot. You are there first and foremost there to keep us safe for which I am grateful for and occasionally yes you provide us with beverages and meals for which I also appreciate. I think most long term Cathay customers recognize that the staff that do remain are overworked but are trying their best. Hopefully Cathay recognizes that the strength is in the people and are able get back on track. Just know that there are customers that do care and want nothing more than to see happy employees who are being treated fairly and well.

    Are you using asian miles?😂 as crew this is one type of passenger we hate the most…they eat everything and get everything just to make their money worth. Real business class passengers don’t eat that much as they have done the lounge before getting on a flight! Aeroplane food is super super unhealthy 😂 nowadays people Flying 16 hours they don’t even bother walking into the galley and ask for the thing they need. Do they even know the attendant call light is supposed to be used for emergency? I bet they don’t. If you’re stuck in the middle or in the window I understand. Those who are in the aisle or next to the galley, I don’t know what they are thinking. Can’t they walk? If not what are their feet for. They have no idea how much walking it involves working on a flight. No enough rest, low salary. Too much workload and not having enough manpower. CX is becoming a budget airline now. So don’t expect much, not anymore!

      Simon, I would suggest you delete this comment because as an employee you probably should not be publicly saying online that you despise customers who use points and stereotype them as the types that just want to get their money worth and how they are not “real” business class customers. It’s comments like this and about carpets that got your company in hot water earlier this year. As someone who has flown with Cathay for over 20 years prior to the pandemic what do you suggest I do with my points? Should I let them collect dust in my account and not redeem them ? What is the point of customers flying with an airline and being given points if we aren’t supposed to use them because that’s not what “real” business class people do? It’s a little callous of you to say And maybe consider people enjoy trying food on planes because they are foodies and like to try a variety of foods as opposed to “getting moneys worth”. One of the main reasons I chose this route was because I was curious to try the Duddell’s menu and to see whether Michelin quality could really be executed on a plane. And I have never pressed the flight attendant lights ever in over 20+ years of flying

    Lounges at 2:53. There are much better business class lounges than Air Canada. The problem with AC is there are no real Canadian competitor airlines for international flights. So people often get stuck with the airline.

      Ah yes of course there are much better lounges than Air Canada in the world. But I was specifically referring to lounges in comparison to the other lounges at toronto Pearson airport. In toronto we sadly lack good lounges so Air Canada’s is actually the nicest one in Toronto.

    Air Canada has some of the highest priced tickets per km compared to other airlines.

    Thanks for letting me see the Park Hyatt vicariously before the renovation closes it. But how could you skip out on the iconic water aerobics class? You could have channeled your inner Bill Murray. :P

      Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. And you’re absolutely right I should have done the water aerobics class for the full experience. A missed opportunity on my part 😝

    14:27 I have such hate for 'cold in the center' food. They really need to retrain staff as it's quite an unpleasant experience, I hate to send anything back but this is unacceptable. Thanks for sharing your experience

      Definitely agree. Food not warmed all the way through is so unappetizing. Thanks for watching 🙏

    A few years ago I took trip from the east coast of Canada to Alberta. We were going to be out there for a month and when we got off the aircraft there was news that some AC people would be going on strike. For three weeks the strike threat was hanging over my head and I absolutely had to be back by a specific date. Finally I had enough and decided to go home early, with my wife and kids staying with the grandparents. The change in ticket went OK, wasn't crazy expensive and all was going well. I arrived at the airport really early and the AC lady at check in was taking good care of me. Then her radio went off. It turns out that a full aircraft had left the gate, went about 50 metres and then something broke. The passengers needed to be unloaded, and for them it was about to be hot, frustrating, miserable, and a whole lot of hurry up and wait. My lady radioed that as soon as she was finished with me she'd come out to help. At this point a co-worker came up to her and snarled at her that she had a break coming and that she was to take it before she went out. So the passengers endured extra time on a hot airplane and once again the staff and management of Air Canada prove their motto, "At Air Canada, we're not happy until you're not happy." Oh, they never did go on strike.

      That sounds terrible and sorry you had to experience that. I think you can tell a lot about a company by how they handle a situation when things go wrong. Hopefully they start to realize the importance of this

    Cathay is still one of the best. It didn't get higher because some airlines paid to be high on the Skytrax ranking.

      While I agree that skytrax isn’t necessarily the most trustworthy source I don’t necessarily think Cathay has kept up to pace with other 5 star airlines like Emirates, Etihad, ANA, Singapore Airlines just to name a few. I hope with the release of the Aria suites it will help bring them back as a top contender as Cathay has always been a favourite of mine actually. They’re just not there at the moment unfortunately
