If there was 4 feet of snow on the ground there wasn't a lot they could do until the snows melted. The sound of jets flying over was pretty cool. Must have been the sound heard on that cool night and the explosion when the big jet hit the ground.

To add to my previous comment: If there was enough turbulence to separate the vertical stabilizer and horizontal stabilizer completely off the aircraft then it was strong enough to finish off the rest of the airframe. With 8 big engines even with the rear flight controls missing, these pilots could have leveled off just using the engines so that they could make a safe exit from the aircraft, but being that the aircraft was breaking up, made it impossible to do so. everyone except for those in injection seats, were basically thrown out from the disintegrating airframe. So from the so called eyewitness that the aircraft was in a nose low left bank, it would have angered in and would have been a minimal debris field or pretty much a smoking hole in the ground. That's probably how it went otherwise the aircraft would had to level off before striking the ground which then would explain the large debris field but not likely.

I am kinda late for a comment but none of this happened at impact this aircraft broke up in flight according to the size of the debris field.

Definitely a B-52 and not a B-29. Among other things, you can tell by the framework around the tail gunners position and the outrigger gear struts, to name just a few. While it is true that he did not know a lot about aircraft, or B-52's, I for one am very grateful to him for going through all the trouble to visit this crash site, and give us the absolutely wonderful video footage of this site, that most of us would never have seen, had he not gone through all of the trouble to Trek to this site, and give us this Awesome fiotage of this crash site. I applaud him for his service to our country in the U.S. Army, and his care and concern about the keeping of this sacred site, where so many young men sacrificed their lives in duty and service to their country!

I learned how to do this today after my repair man change my keypad with sticky keys. I’ve changed several keypads over the years and now I realize I was wasting my money. So I kept the keypad that he removed, cleaned it and ready for next time live and learn. Lol
