    My grandmother Elizabeth Key was a member of the Huddersfield choral society in the early part of the 20th century when Sir Malcolm Sargeant was the conductor

    Wonderful. I knew about the HCS many years ago as a college music student in San Francsico. My choral teacher used to kid us about sounding "too British." He used the HCS as the standard of the British sound. Ach! We poor Yanks!
