CSX Plant City Local starts it day
CSX 6503 starts its day working the Plant City Local. This local runs from Tampa Yeoman Yard and services the local industry. Due to having to operate both directions it usually has the pushing platform caboose that you see on the end of the train. During the course of the morning into early afternoon this train and the other 2 locals that service the area ( 2 from yeoman 1 from Winston) can be seen crossing over several times.

Budd RDC-4's leave Sudbury, Ontario with some very bored looking crew. The train only picked up 3 crates of bananas in town and no passengers this morning.

Oct 29, 2013 - CSXT 4318 pushes north through town with a pushing platform in front. He is returning to the diamond after dropping off some cars to the south after going by here, he switched just north of the diamond and came back to go east back to Lakeland.

Oct 29, 2013 - The second local switching the area pushes back through town heading East after waiting for a train to go over the diamond. This guy started pushing towards Lakeland as soon as the last train cleared the crossing on the north end of the diamond. I could hear both trains honking as they left the area for a little while after shooting this.

Oct 29, 2013 CSXT 6983 and 2383 lead the Port of Tampa Truck Eliminator rolls north over the diamond to service the local industries.The train was larger than usual and the GPs had to work on it. Was amusing as earlier in day caught two trains with much more power on much small and lighter consists.

Oct 29, 2013 - 1:30 PM near the end of my day in Plant City, FL a light engine move flies through town taking to heart the command of Whistle Freely. Great Sounding horn on the GPs as they go from Tampa to Lakeland.
CSX hoppers and tanks switching East on the diamond

CSXT 4676 and 4692 come into town from the north and turn to head east towards Lakeland, FL. Train was a nice treat with a mix of the new "boxcar" paint scheme on several of the hoppers as well as many classic paints such as Chessie System, Seaboard and Conrail cars on the consist as a bonus.

Oct 29, 2013 - Sorry for the shaky start had to run to get to a good vantage for this guy. Both him and the local came to the diamond at the same moment honking for near by crossings. I guessed wrong as to who had the right of way. Just after Amtrak Train 92 pulled out of town immediately after you could see the exhaust coming up from the pair of Dash 8s on this mixed freight. Train is headed by CSXT 7879 and 7841. Train came in from the north leg of the Y and was headed east through town. The engines gave a nice display of horn action and noise as they got going and pulled the train up the hill.

AMTK 95 and 77 pull out of Lakeland, FL with Amtrak train 92. Was a dreary rainy day so was not out long stopped off here for a few got this guy and a nice mixed freight that came in right as he left town.

Seventh train of the day, immediately after the empty tie car train rumbled north with all the gondolas, the signals were set up for the eliminator to come north behind him. I did not have to wait for him to start honking on the other end of town. The port of Tampa truck eliminator even had some nice engineers and got a couple of extra whistles out of it.

My sixth train of the day and a real treat for the day. A big 3000 series engine pulls a short empty tie car train north. The train had quite a few Conrail cars still showing Conrail markings on them. There has been a lot of track work in the area so this was the empties going back up north. Was that empty freight a test train? I dont understand
Yes it is a train designed with a very unusual drag on it to help test engineers while not using up any actual revenue cargo.
Haha, good thing the freight train was mostly see-through cars.
Yeah number of times ive shot here and elsewhere and its auto-racks on the close track and a short fast train behind and you can maybe see a quick glimse and thats it. Got lucky for the no cargo test train.

@CSXKid5016 no idea I didnt exactly stick around to find out I was on the sidewalk accross street from him although he did watch to make sure i was gone only thing i can think of was I had a camera and he could see me so if he was up to something that wasnt good he may not take kindly to cameras in area, just a guess though.

@CSXKid5016 Was throwing baseball size chunks of broken up cinderblock and concrete at me had to edit the video as at the beginning of it i was staggered by being hit in the knee. Took the video and got out of there before the guy could get closer to me he came from the trailer park to the left of this shot.

@HaltonRailfan nope actually from Florida this was a day on the vacation did greater Toronto Area for a few days then went up to northern Ontario. Usually railfan and shoot in Central Florida. ( Tampa , Orlando, Lakeland etc)

@ocrailfanner1995 yeah he was best engineer that we had that trip from all the different trains i got to see on this trip got this after we had taken the train from San Diego in the cab car was nice surprise to get this as i went to record the train leaving the station
