Thank you. But it does need some explanation for those who stumble on to it. So : Xie Wanyin (played by He XuanLin) is taking an unauthorized breather from her wedding preparation with Crown Prince when she witnesses Na Jinci (played by Richard Li) killing a courtier with an arrow, although Na was blindfolded. Na notices her and catches her when she runs away and stumble. He recognized her as the childhood sweetheart he somehow had lost track of. He is the new Preceptor who advises the Emperor, and now he predicts trouble if the Crown Prince's marriage goes through, so it is canceled. Na, under his other name as Preceptor, claims her and weds er despite her opposition, because she believes he is a bad guy who just wants to silence her and force feed her poison. But it is the opposite: Na has recognized that she got poisoned in the palace, and wants to cure her. What he has her drink is a concoction made from his own blood which contains powerful anti-poison properties. She gets better, finally understands his intent, and falls in love with him. Later, she will get to know the full story about why he was hiding under another identity, why he disappeared from her life as a child, why his blood is so special. The story has ups and downs and many very dark moments, lots of tropes weaved in, so can be triggering after the first episodes until the pair finds bliss in marriage. There is an SFL best friend of Xie Wanyin, called Mingyue, who starts out as an adorable, sunny minded youth, but suddenly is carried to the palace where she meets a very tragic end. Xie Wanyin would like to take revenge for her, but for political reasons, has to wait. The story has a mixed bad and happy end. Watch it until Mingyue gets taken away, or until one third in episode 9 (stop when Xie and Na kiss after she willingly drinks her medicine), if you can't take too heavy stuff and only like fluff. Richard Li is very handsome and always plays very well, has a lot of sweet kissing scenes with his FL ; the two ladies are very good too. Overall it is a positive watch, but, repeat, with serious trigger warnings from episode 9, and the revenge is not wholly satisfying. The acting is not at fault, but the script is leaning on too graphic, heavy , things, which could have been less emphasized for a short, not that serious drama, where audiences came for chemistry between lovely Richard Li and a feisty lady. The kissing between them, sampled in this edit, gets even hotter in other episodes, and does not stay at fish or forehead kisses, despite not getting further than what c-dramas allows to be seen (no total nudity, only implied sex between married couples). There are some spectacular fighting scenes, which border on Chinese fantasy drama with wuxia super powers. The drama is adapted with some changes from an untranslated e-novel; it is short, with 30x15-20 minutes episodes.

I've watched the series like 5 times already and I can never get enough. I really feel like the red birthday scene was the culmination of his tragic past. That whole fight sequence was shot so beautifully too with the white doors, the blood splatter, and the shadows of the fight being shown.
