100 Voice Polytempo Visualizer
So I finally did it, 100 voices each offset by 0.01 bpm. It creates this amazing 10 minute long cycle where the space between each note is so small and the amount of voices interacting with each other actually creates a falling pitch at the start of the cycle. Then we hear an actual rhythmic subdivisions sweep.
I created the visualization for this composition with code provided by chat GPT. and you get these visual paterns that sync up with all the ryhthmic subdivisions. SO satisfying to watch.

60 Note Pendulum Wave
Просмотров 3412 месяца назад
So I decided to try pushing this polytempo concept to absurdity, and it's pretty awesome. So it is a 15-note chord with 4 repeats of each note. And every single one of those notes is offset by 0.1 BPM for a total of 60 individual tempos. The result is quite wild! The 0.1 bpm difference creates a 10-minute cycle. and we have important rhythmic events at the same relative moments in the cycle. Si...
Polytempo Phasing Explained

A little while ago I composed a 15 polytempo phase and it was the most viewed thing I have ever made. So, I've decided to share on my process and the things I've learned. Thank you to @SteveReichMusic , @project_jdm , @VirtualRiot for the inspiration The full album is available here! as well as on Spotify and company. electricvibes.bandcamp.com/album/phased-out 0:00 Intro 0:18 I : What Came Bef...
Snow Drift - Polytempo Phasing

This piece explores phasing a four-part marimba chorale and how we can use this concept to write a song. I had to call in my good friend @jazzymamaakakarinechampagn9350 to sing on this track! 4 Part Harmony + Polytempo Phase
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.5 месяцев назад
I've been experimenting a lot with this concept and I thought, what about a four-part choral where the voices go out of phase with each other? The result is a constant harmonic and rhythmic movement between the voices. The 1 BPM tempo difference makes a 1-minute cycle so it takes 8 minutes to return to the original harmony since each part has 8 notes. This exploration will be featured on my upc...

Is this a steve reich reference
I'd see it as, continuing in my own direction, inspired by Steve Reich and others. But definitely, Steve Reich is one of the main references for this kind of music.

Hi Jeremie, can we have contact about this piece? Very great!
Hey yeah, got your message, sending you the sheet music now!
Amazing how quickly it shifts from "synchronized" to "desynchronized"
When I first got into computer programming, I was fascinated with the idea of producing pseudo-random numbers. I naively thought that if you combine enough frequencies together you would end up with a decent approximation of a random number sequence. Since white noise contains all frequencies or something like that. But no, of course it'll always end up being periodic. Visualizing number sequences as a 2d image really highlighted that. This video just reminded me of that realization. thanks for this!
How is this done
Creator said how they did it in the description

CaseOh at end
Jacob Collier can tap this with his left hand.
🤣
The next Brian Eno.
wow, that's amazing playing
🔥❤
most are in french :(
very very nice !
Takes me back to my music school days when my composition teacher would get his whole studio together to have us do things like this. Great focus and persistence, Jeremie…I’m sure this took a lot of patience.
❤
Beatiful!! ✨✨✨
I never thought i’d see the two instruments I play used together!
Did you know that this song sounds exactly like a song written by an old female German composer? I hope for your sake she doesn't notice...#plagiat
Uh oh... I better get a lawyer!!
Love it! Reminds me of rubik's cube: If you start with a solved cube and perform some small combination (2-4) moves, it will get closer and further and even closer and further to solved, until eventually it returns to solved state.
It is kind of like a self-resolving puzzle, thanks! :)
Why didn’t you show yourself playing all the parts like that last video? All you’d need is 10 hours to film, a metronome, and enough medication not to go insane. Edit: if you want to make this the least satisfying video ever, cut it off right before the final beat. If you want to make this the most satisfying video, extend it by a few seconds after the final beat to let the reverb die away more naturally.
Hahaha maybe one day, that day is not today, but exploring like this with midi before recording is part of the process :)
I was sure I commented on the other video but yeah apparently I didn't I'm one who listened to the entire 5 minutes and enjoyed every bit (and beat) of all. I think it's not for everyone, right? Anyways congratulations and keep the good vibes. Wish you well
Love it
just discovered what a vibraphone is... so i tried "zelda vibraphone" ... and what a treasure ! thank you for your passion !
This is great! I love it! <3
Oh my God, this is super rad! So cool to see people get inspired and make a cover with my visualisation! I really appreciate this. Thank you!
Wow thanks man! I actually found that the visuals helped me learn the polyrythm in funner way than just doing the math hahah! Thanks for the awesome videos
This is wonderful
Now this is an amazing mix of this! I fell in love with Virtual Riots "I heard you like polyrhythms" and this gives a great different vibe!
It just keeps getting better. Beautiful work thank you!
How? 😭
Damn great synchrony work here😭
Definitely did not expect this😮
Trop bien!
Very cool
Just found the channel through b3ta newsletter, superb stuff
The way cat from Minecraft was made❤
I appreciate this so much! I look forward to choreographing a dance piece to one of your phrased pieces for my college choreography class. Where can I download this album? (Amazon music doesn’t have it right now.)
To clarify, where can I BUY a digital version of this album?
Hey there! Thanks so much, the best place is here : electricvibes.bandcamp.com/album/phased-out
Got it! Thank you. 😊
I felt a bit guilty when I called that song you made "good background noise" but now I know I was right. Phasing alone is cool but not enough.
I guess it depends what kind of musical experience you're looking to create. but yeah I feel like adding more to the phasing concept. Allthough experiencing phasing live is pretty special and everyone should live the experience once! The physical sound waves distorting together is so satisfying and the resulting patterns always sounds so crazy!
discipline by king crimson is a great example of phasing.
Nice! I'll check it out for sure
Awesome & brilliant work on this J !
Thanks man :)
Salut Jer! Ca va?
Oui et toi?
Very awesome Jeremie 😊 , it gave cool sound effects watched a couple of the videos ! Next a Fibonacci sequence? Should be a good challenge for you , if you like also a little bit of math😊! Those are numbers representing notes adding to them selves!
Hmm good idea! Challenge accepted
@@JeremieCarrier I thought you would like it !! Here you you got a cool explanation ruclips.net/video/IGJeGOw8TzQ/видео.htmlsi=uaEJ09NQ6ilIgTo1 but then Jeremie funky style ?
i actually tried recreating your 0.2bpm video in a daw, this is very helpful and answers a lot of questions.
No problem! If it can help people avoid the same mistakes I made then it was a success!
4 minutes in, and I'm pausing to appreciate you taking the time to film yourself explaining answers to the questions I had watching your videos, and giving answers to the new questions that arise as I go along. Freaking ACE!
Thanks man :) I figured people had questions
Heyoh! Your polytempo vids inspired me to experiment here too. ruclips.net/video/H4EYrOV4av8/видео.htmlsi=Uot0hktuweFmwx8U I just wanted to share that with yah, and say thanks. I'll be watching this video now, and I'm sure I will appreciate the insights. Cheers.
DAWs confuse me and give me the feeling of trying to learn a new spreadsheet program. But VCV works for my perspective.
Amazing stuff Jer!!
Nice!
Sequel that we needed 🥺
