Good way to differ a lifter tick from an exhaust leak is if the noise smooths out after a couple minutes of being running then is an exhaust leak. Back manifold studs always break on this engines.

I feel your pain. My CTSV has been down for about a year and a half over the last two. Have had 3 trans builds. Finally shipped the whole car to TKR in Ohio so they could do the trans and the tune as my local guy obviously couldn't figure out how to keep it tuned safe.
