I need free audio for the infinity USB foot pedal computer transcription

This looks good but I have some questions: I would assume that the computer sees the pedal as if it were a keyboard. So that when you hit left the computer receives whatever character is programmed in? Is that right? If I were playing an audio file with one program and was typing the transcribed text into Microsoft Word then would the data from the foot pedal go into Word? ie would I have to switch “focus” to the audio program and then press the pedal? This seems like a limitation but maybe I have it all wrong.

I am tying to find instructions on how to disassemble this stupid piece of crap and oil it because it squeaks.

I was interested in this product until 1:46 where a graphic plays on the product screen of an old mini cassette that we were used to using in the 80s and 90s. This is so cheap and gimmicky, and I wonder how much a stupid animation like that affects the battery life. Ridiculous. I'm looking for a dictaphone that is not a toy, as even those in the £100+ bracket are a waste of time. I hoped this might have been the answer, but this aesthetic decision is embarrassing and I think I'd be wasting my money...
