It’s always something…..fun!
США

The end goal is to be moved into our little log cabin. Along the way, I want to chronicle and share all the experiences and interruptions.
We will build a road in to the cabin, build a bridge and develop a mountain side spring for the water source. Of course, no story is complete without spin off stories of tractors, wood splitting, carport builds or anything else I can think about!
Almost all of these things we have never done before, I’m sure it will be an exciting journey!
The video’s quality and my abilities will get better! Learning as we go here! I intended to post new content about every 2-3 weeks. All question and comments are welcomed.

DIY septic tank failures and carport RV covers

We are about 6 months behind on videos......shame on me! We have finally ripped out the old fecal waste system and installed a new one. The big ol' camper we bought to live in needs a carport cover, and some desperately needed gutters get installed!

Cool mountain spring water for the cabin

We finally get water introduced to the cistern! It sure has been a tedious project. The water is murky because of the dirt that I dropped in the cistern while setting it. I've slightly improved my collection methods and now get about 7 gallons a minute running into the cistern. log cabin, it's always something....fun, diy, mountain spring water, hand hewn logs,jd350,mini excavator,komatsu,PC50 ...

Mountain spring water install for the log cabin Day 1 of 2
Просмотров 2027 месяцев назад
We get started with the first of 2 days installing 500 feet of water line for the cabin. We will install PEX and the power line for the pump that will move the water to the cabin and the camper. I think we hit about 6 different springs along the way. The excavator requires some maintenance mid-day, so we stop and show it some love too! A local guy brings us a couple loads of filter stone to fix...
DIY Pure mountain spring water for the log cabin

We have moved our water source from the well tile spring to a stream that runs down the side of the mountain. After planting our water cistern in the ground for storage, now it's time to create a catch basin to fill the cistern. This stream is currently providing about 8 gallons per minute. We will install sediment filters and UV filters later to keep the water clean and fresh. Music courtesy o...
DIY We changed water sources for the log cabin!
Просмотров 6568 месяцев назад
After thinking about things for a while, we decided to move the water source from the well tile spring to a spring which flowed down the side of the hill behind the cabin. It was a much cleaner source and potentially way more flow. But, since it is a flowing body of water, the chances of sediment accumulation also increase. We install a cistern as a storage tank and will have UV filters and som...
Fix that annoying TPMS light! Tire Pressure Monitoring System hack!
Просмотров 1 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Have you ever installed 'new to you wheels' with tires already mounted that did not have programmed TPMS sensors? Rather than pay someone to break down the old set, remove the sensors, break down the new set and install the sensors, you can do this! Just pay to remove the old sensors and put them in a PVC vessel like this! Then you will never have to worry about tire pressure monitoring sensors...
Spring Water for the Log Cabin
Просмотров 3968 месяцев назад
On the property, we have an old spring box made from well tile. We reveal it and attempt to expand the storage capacity of the spring box by adding 3 more pieces of well tile to the top. We determine that the recharge rate of the spring is roughly 1.2 gallons per minute, not too shabby! Unfortunately, the static head pressure does not allow the water level to rise but about 2 additional inches....
Our Cabin in the Woods Story. There are many like it, but this one is mine!

It's time to introduce you to our little cabin in the woods! Dimensions are pretty standard for the region's log homes, roughly 18'x 26' and has 2 stories. Most of the notches and logs are still very solid. We originally intended to add a 30x30 addition on the back with logs sawn and milled on the property, but that was a decade ago and we may change up some sizes and designs as time marches on...

We finish setting the precast concrete block for the second abutment, laid the steel beams and oak deck boards. The bridge to the cabin in the woods is all complete! *update* We drove a dump truck across it, full of gravel, weighing 53,000 lbs. The beams didn't even budge! Dad's bridge project.....hopefully the last one!
That was sketchy but we made it happen
I gotta try that. But I thought they went into sleep mode until tire rotation woke them up.
This is a great hack if you need to use lower tire pressure when running bigger tires.
maaannnnn, this is waterfall development, not spring lol
It was a lot of fun! Thanks for your time.
To keep the algae down I would paint the container black, to stop the sun light from creating the algae
I’ll need to build a structure around the pump and cistern to keep it from freezing this winter. Hopefully that will aid in the reduction of algae. Thanks for watching!
Any idea how many GPH that spring provides?
Id say anywhere between 180-240!
Judging from the flow at the pipe! The spring could be producing more!
That's really nice. I'm hoping to get a property with one that flows similarly. Thank you for answering.
Currently getting 8 gallons per minute. We are at the tail end of the wet season, it will dwindle over the summer. It I’ve never seen it stop in 10 years. There is some water leaking by in the little catch basin, I may rework it later this year to be more efficient. Thanks for your time!
Nicely done, I am jealous of the freedom y'all (mum is American, I'll appropriate a bit lol) have down your way to do as you wish. Up here in Bruce Peninsula, Ontario we have to follow so many rules and are dictated by conservation authorities and environment Canada when it comes to ANYTHING water related. Any stream, river, pond, lakefront, wetlands, it is all controlled and you have to go through an excruciating process to get anything done. Could take years to get approved, could not get approved in it's entirety even. You could buy a chunk of land and realize that a large portion of it is controlled by conservation and you can't even build/develop it. So.. I'm jealous of places where you can be the artistic creator and do as you please with minimal oversight. Yes, we could buy and live in areas of Ontario where there is no oversight, but then you're off-grid and far from everything, which is amazing in itself, but not always practical with a family and career. Maybe when I retire lol. As it is, I have 1/2 acre of well treed property that backs on to my buddies family farm of 400 acres of bush/wetlands and enjoy. The suburbia neighborhood insists that the front is groomed and landscaped, but the back?.... that's mine, and i'll try and be as rural as I can be and see if we can get away with some chickens and sighting in of rifles lol
Thanks for sharing your story and giving me some of your time!
Nice job on developing your spring!
Thanks! Appreciate your time too!
Interesting!
Thanks for lending me your time.
Third time's the charm 😂
Yes it is! Thanks for watching!
But hay if your just wasting time. It may be more therapeutic than fishin.
Appreciate your time!
😂😂😂🤣🤣looks like that takes more time and effort than going to the tire shop and fixing the problem😂😂😂😢
Thanks for watching!
This is NOT a fix. It is a HACK. Why not just fix it. The tire shops around me will change out the valve stem for nothing, just like a tire repair.
Thanks for your time!
All that time passed under the bucket made me cringe a bit :S
Thanks for watching!
The spring box looks really good!
Thanks!
Your videos are getting better every time.
Thank you!
You forgot to attach the bridge treads which helps to protect bridge decking and I know this from my training in the army as 51b20 carpenter and timber wharf and bridges
Thanks for watching. Can you elaborate on the bridge treads?
Wow! That’s really somthin!
Thanks!
And it was a lot of fun!
I really like this kind of project - so I subscribed. Cant wait for the next one.
Thanks for giving me your time!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
.
Those big pre cast blocks are fabulous for big retaining walls. The smooth ones would be good for a heavy pool casing. Hold anything back.
Yes, they are a versatile product for sure.
This project definitely gives you a future with a purpose. Mark Bowe will be proud of you!
Haha! I love that guy! Sure could use his help!
Yeah congrats on one hundred subscribers kendawa
Thanks vey much
It’s always something…fun! I checked you channel like 4 days ago or something and you had 60 subscribers and now you have 94. That crazy!! Congrats!
Yes, it’s done really well. Not sure why, but I’ll be grateful for it!
Saw the first video, first. Ty.
I meant second one. Oops.
Thanks for your time!
Anything in thatcreek. Gold, gem stones or native american artifacs?
I wish! Nothing that we have been able to find.
1:37 tube is the worse option…
It certainly is, but it is the easiest and most often the cheapest to install.
The music junked another video 👎👎👎👎💩💩💩😬
Looking for suggestions. Wrong music, or no music at all?
@@kendawaRuckman no music
Music for a time lapse or like a montage is ok but you can try using something without words and kinda keep it soft
This is a nice video.
Thank you for your time and feedback!
More face time!
I’ll work on that! Thanks for sharing your time with me!
Bridge looks real good 👍
Appreciate that!
I hope you cut the grade of your road down, and widened the approach to the bridge.
Yes, the finished product is much better. Coming up soon on another video
hell yeah
Good fun!
You can now mod up several accessories, a box bin with hinge and gate for loading and dumping. a front snow blade with electric motor winch lift.
Great ideas!
