    I'm a little confused here... Does the Seal have 400v or 800v tech? I have seen videos confirming that the Seal 3.0 e-platform does have 800v tech. Why are we not charging faster then...??

      It is actually something in between, I think 550V is where it's limited with this model year. The 2025 model has 800V.

    The car is slow charching to expel cold temp which is fluid or liquid and it has to do it slow until safe to fast charge to avoid damaging the cells.

      Yep 🙂 we have quite reasonable prices in Finland. Last summer I was driving 7000 km in Europe with the Seal and almost everywhere electricity was clearly more expensive than here.

    I would blame the previous issues on the charging point. Last time the house was pretty full, and load management between the points might had to be activated.

      ​@@vasil7410Der Unterschied liegt an dem Akkustand und der Temperatur. In Deutschland lädt der Seal zur Zeit am besten an 150 KW Säulen und bei Ionity dort habe ich 130 KW Ladeleistung bei 4 Grad Außentemperatur

      @@vasil7410 I think it's about the charger type and maybe a bit about the starting SOC%. Also someone pointed out that. the occupancy rate of the charging station was lower this time which may have had an impact, too.

      @@Agonar81 se on nykyään niin hienovarainen se varoitusääni (erinomaista työtä, BYD) ettei sitä tule otettua enää pois. Äänimerkki on hyvin pehmeä ja taustalla, toivottavasti se pysyykin sellaisena. Kun ostin auton niin otin sen aina pois, mutta nyt en ole koskenutkaan koko asetukseen kesän jälkeen. Mutta vastaus kysymykseesi on, että sitä ei saa pysyvästi pois - tämä on kaiketi EU:n regulaatiosta tuleva määräys, jota voi kenenkään olla vaikea kiertää.

      All Seals in Europe have been manufactured in China, so yes, this update should roll out to all cars in Europe which have arrived from China. BYD's European factory is expected to start production towards end of next year, if I'm not mistaken.

    So, it’s not just me then.. I thought it was. I was very confused when charging at a Tesla supercharger, and only getting 36kWh (30% SoC) all the way to 90% where after it became even slower. For reference, I am used to be getting 80-130kWh. I had a feeling it could be related to the software update, but I shrugged it off, since I did not see any complaints online. But yeah, it sucks for me now. I don’t live in a location where I can access AC charger, without a hassle, so I rely purely on DC superchargers. Very frustrating wait times I have to endure.

      It surely can be frustrating especially in that case. If you rely only on DC and are in a colder climate, the Seal may not be the best option in the EV market if you need optimize the charging times. Something like Ioniq 6 with traditional NMC battery chemistry will perform better.

    C’est en effet un problème certain. Y compris en France où les températures ne sont pas aussi basses. En dessous de 5 degrés nous avons déjà eu les mêmes événements. Un de mes collaborateurs a même peur de faire un grand trajet avec les problèmes qu’il a eu. Personnellement, je suis inquiet. Il n’y a pas de système de preconditionnement, donc je ne vois pas comment est-ce qu’ils peuvent régler le problème dû au froid.

      Après, il semble que tous les chargeurs DC ne soient pas concernés... Mais si c'est une loterie, c'est sûr que ce n'est pas rassurant... à voir chez nous en France sur ionity, fastnet ou autres... Je me rappelle de problèmes de "compatibilité" avec certaines marques lors de l'ouverture des superchargers Tesla... J'ai passé commande d'une Seallion 07 alors que j'avais une EV6 à sa sortie et revenu au diesel depuis, car changement de vie... J'espère que BYD va vite update, sans créer de nouveaux problèmes, toutefois..😬

      @ c’est même un peu plus compliqué. Cette semaine je recharge sur une station Shell après avoir fait une charge foireuse chez IEcharge. Puissance de charge à 148kw. Hier, de nuit, je m’arrête à nouveau sur cette même station Shell en me disant que je n’aurais pas de problème. Et là, puissance max à 28% : 88kw.

    Have a '23 Seal Performance and still on 1.2.1, with the new update dropping soon. Is this issue only at rapid chargers or home chargers as well? Wondering if the charger matters between AC and DC charging and if it's super fast chargers only or just fast ones. If it's both we definitely won't be updating until BYD rolls out a fix. Good luck!

      Only certain type of DC chargers, no impact on AC charging (or most of DC charging either).

      Kempower has pretty good reputation. I have driven fully electric since 2019 and Kempower is among the best public charger providers based on my own experience. So here my eyes are on BYD mainly, as generally cars charge reliably with Kempower chargers. But of course, it would be great if BYD and Kempower can collaborate here, if needed, to resolve the issues.

    So you think BYD will fix this?😂Dream on! I had a Byd Han for one year. Thank god I sold it. Does not charge at Tesla V3 & V4,. Charges poorly on Kempower chargers, interrupts charging at Tritium Chargers (Ionity), because of light vibrations in the water cooled cable. The whole CCS protocol is rubbish and rushed toghether. The car is not able to cool the battery if temperatur is below +5c. So reapeated charging on the same day in winter will end in overheating the battery and "chargegate". You probably haven't yet discovered the thin soft paint and the poor insulation and at least 20 other bad things with BYD. Buy a carscanner and connect to the OBD port and follow what happens in the battery and you will be schocked. Or the best: Sell the rubbish ASAP!

      It is to be seen, but v1.4 is out already in some markets. I’d expect the fix to be included either in that or the following release. Actually, this specific issue was already briefly present in the Spring based on some user reports, and that was then fixed to v1.1 or 1.2. So I do think that it is realistic to expect a (re-)fix. Sorry to hear your negative experience with the car - personally I have enjoyed driving the Seal.

    Ce n'est pas très rassurant😮 et je ne comprends pas cette gestion de leurs packs LFP, alors que Tesla y arrive très bien.. Ça me fout d'autant plus les boules que je n'aime pas du tout Tesla et encore moins Musk..! J'espère qu'une rapide update va régler ce souci majeur, pour qui n'a qu'une voiture et souhaite librement se déplacer sans compter sur des charges AC utilisées au quotidien...

    I don't have EV, but, just like using Windows 11, that is why I don't like software updates (especially forced updates) when the system is still working fine. The big problem happens after spending time to updating the system, or at least nothing significantly better after update.

    KEMPOWER tech is based on knowing every car model. KEMPOWER has taken money from the US government for their factory in the USA. Your country Finland is now a NATO colony, where you had peace and neutrality with Russia before. On their corporate website in small print they site Russia, China and North Korea as countries they will have nothing to do with. First of all neither Russia or China are anything like North Korea. But they clearly project NATO/CIA/Mi6 propaganda against Russia and China. Note they have no objections to Israel, Saudi Arabia, any other Gulf Monarchy or any state under massive US military occupation (IE South Korea where the government recently used Martial Law to end anti-government protests). KEMPOWER is the only charging system that is built on knowing your brand of car. There is now a legitimate question. Are they deliberately throttling Chinese brands? They also take money from the sanctions addict EU. PS The KEMPOWER factory in the USA is located in the death-penalty state of North Carolina in a nation the USA that has the largest prison complex and most prisoners pro rata to population in the world (25% of the world's prisoners in a nation with 5% of the world's population). 90% of them are coerced into a Plea Bargain to avoid risking 50+ year sentences in a system where the poor and ethnic minorities are convicted at a rate of 98%. So much for KEMPOWER's fake ethics on democracy and human rights.

    very interesting post , I recently used a brand new 400kw charger placed beside my normal 180kw unit and naturally I pluged into the new ultra high speed charger but was disgusted to only see 10kw and then the magic same figure of 8.5kw and it seemed to be stuck on this figure and having little or no patience I immediately cancelled and swaped over to the older 180kw unit where I immediately got 50 and ramped up quickly to 120 and completed my charge in a reasonable time , I arrived with only 10% and temp was above 10degs c car had only driven 8km from being left idle for 4 weeks (was overseas working) ... I do think you have identified a quirk with this new software version ,.. again thanks for great content. dara hayes

    the route planner is absolute GARBASH! did a test last week in my dolphin 258 km mostly highway (129 Km each way) so 110 KM/H and some times 130 KM/H i started at 96% battery when i got to destination after 129km i had 35% left i then set the gps to go back and expect it to add charging stops but nope it was like yeah u can reach destination no problem man wtf is this

    Got the BYD blade LFP in a 2023 Tesla Model Y SR, only the german made models got the BYD, not the US or China ones. This battery is a gamechanger. Charges better than the big NCM Tesla uses (LG), 3C charge rate (176kW) for quite some time AND plug in at any SoC and get 3C (charge curve shifts). No more plugging in at 10% or less for full speed. The BYD needs less than 25°C for fast charge, has no drawbacks in the winter like the older CATL LFP. No penalty on long distance, cheaper, best battery so far. The cells shine because of the good battery design from Tesla, the cells alone do not make a battery pack

    I'm curious to know what your experience are with the "slow DC charging issue" that everyone is talking about post ver. 1.3.1

      Very good question. I tried DC charging a week ago (see my previous video) with ”frozen” battery mainly to test how the Seal handles the ”worst case scenario” in charging right after a -10C night. Even though the start of the charging session was very very slow, the power ramped up quite ok’ish considering the conditions. So probably nothing to do with v1.3.1 but just the freezing cold battery in that test. It may be that those v1.3.1 issues only happen on certain type of DC chargers. I’ll see if I can make another test on this some day soon.

      @ElectricSeal-bq5wu I read about Seal owners from across the globe also are experiencing the sudden drop in charge effect post ver. 1.3.1 in all different temperatures, me also - but now it is also cold in the north as you know, so it's not possible for me to really test this issue in warm/tempered weather. My Seal was DC charging perfectly in the summer and fall pre ver. 1.3.1, so it would be a sad day if that has changed to the negative side...

    The AVAS sound is also played inside the car. This don’t makes sense to me. They should fix that.

      I think it comes only from external speaker ? But yes you can hear it inside, like in most EVs.

      The software is generally not on Tesla's level, that's pretty clear. On the other hand, when you look at other manufacturers' software and how they do OTA updates, like VW, Hyundai, Volvo... I think BYD has actually got a pretty decent start.

    Bonjour, concernant la carte de navigation, en France, ça fonctionne bien. Pour le chauffage, je pense que ce n’est pas un problème. Dans ma Seal, et les deux autres que nous avons au bureau, tout le monde règle la température entre 28 et 30. En mettant la vitesse de ventilation sur 2 ou 3 et en enlevant la soufflerie sur la vitre, cela devient confortable pour la température et le bruit. En mettant la température a 28 ou 30, tu pourras voir que la consommation passe de 1 à 4 kw. C’est pour ça que je pense que ce n’est pas un problème. C’est une volonté pour avoir de meilleurs résultats sur l’autonomie. Je suis intéressé d’avoir ton retour sur les superchargeurs. Avec le froid (moins de 8 degrés !), elles deviennent catastrophiques. Puissance limitée à 8kw, déconnexion à plusieurs reprises…. Bref, l’enfer.

      Je vais vous rejoindre prochainement, mais dans une Seallion. J'ai déjà eu une Ev6 où les démarrages niveau software étaient aussi laborieux.. Pas de pré-conditionnement, alors qu'il était annoncé à la sortie, planificateur absent.. Bref, des lacunes aussi... Cependant, je ne comprends pas ces bugs à la charge en DC ou du moins, cette protection "à outrance" de la batterie, alors que d'autres constructeurs qui utilisent des cellules LFP BYD, arrivent à de meilleures performances et stabilisées...🤔

      "Power limited at 8 kw and disconnections" sound exactly like those issues, which also some users have been reporting here in Finland with the v1.3.1. But these did not occur with 1.2 to my knowledge, so these should definitely be addressed to v1.4 or 1.3.2. I really expect these type of things to be high prio on their list. Myself, I haven't yet encountered the disconnection issues, and my recent charging curve was ok'ish despite the very slow start due to cold battery (see test here: ruclips.net/video/lntRmrvbbIY/видео.htmlsi=azsDK7V8m4P3jPD0 ), but clearly there are some issues as quite many have been raising those lately.
