How to Draw a Double-End Hook Spanner in 2D with LibreCAD | Step-by-Step Tutorial
The design of the Double-End Hook Spanner in the image is both functional and efficient. Here are a few thoughts:
Dual-End Versatility: The spanner has two distinct hook ends with different radii, allowing it to be used for a variety of components, potentially with different sizes. This increases its versatility.
Hexagonal Cutout: The hexagonal hole in the center indicates that the tool is designed for use with hex bolts or nuts, adding a secondary function to the tool. This multi-functionality is practical for maintenance or repair tasks.
Compact and Ergonomic: The overall shape is compact and likely easy to handle, with smooth curves for comfortable grip and operation. The arcs are gentle ...

Thanks. For me scaling to fit a drawing sheet and printing better than stupidly faint, is and utter frustration .
You're welcome! I totally get the frustration-scaling and printing can be tricky. If you need tips or have specific questions, let me know, and I'll try to help
@librecadfree Since then, after hours of trial and error, I have the Current Drawing sheet size set to A3 landscape, with a predrawn A3 template waiting. Can't printing the drawing direct, it will only do portrait, so far. Current Drawing scale is 1:10 or 10:100 Print Preview the drawing and Fit to Paper, check the resulting scale. Usually this is not a scalable scale so I reset it to closest match that still fits the paper, bearing in mind the right-hand Title block. Ok then Fix the Scale and return to drawing. Then, I import the drawing frame A3 template as a BLOCK on the Origin. Then select only the imported block and scale it up times (to suit the result from fit to page, 1:20, 1:25 ?) . Next I select only the drawing objects and Move this into the imported frame. Print Preview this, set to b&w, set Lines to Scale OFF, save and Export to pdf if sending. But if a faff tbh but it gives me acceptable results. Except I now need to properly get hold of optimum layer line sizes, and fonts are horrible 😊
Great job :-) I wish all tutorials would go through what each thing does, like this one does. Thank you!
Thank you! 😊 Glad you found it helpful. I'll keep making detailed tutorials like this-stay tuned
how can I change the properties of a line, for example, to a dashed or dashed line?
select the line you want to edit --> select Attributes --> change the properties
This method is totally fine. Though I prefer just being able to type in the length (it would be much faster for me), this method is not slow.
Thanks for the feedback! 😊 Typing in the length is definitely quicker for some-great to hear different preferences
Подскажите как можно создать кривую линию из точек при заданном расстоянии между ними?
Ты можешь использовать инструмент 3 точки

Glad it helped! 😊 Thanks for the feedback!

I’m sorry, this drawing is only in 2D. Try using FreeCAD for 3D.

When you type on the command area, where are you getting the numbers after @ ?
The numbers or dimensions are just based on your idea.

Librecad's aligned dimensioning tools look a little bit weak here. A way of changing the end of measure "/------/" angle would be great. Thanks for showing us how to go about creating this Isometric view though!
Hi, you can use |-----| as a style of your dimension. Options --> Current Drawing Preferences --> Dimensions --> change the value --> arrow size = 0 --> tick size = 5 or etc.
@@librecadfree Thanks for the tips
Thank you for sharing your methods. I am learning a lot by watching you. As I'm following along, I am also trying out my own ideas to see if I can guess how you'll do the part and to see if my ideas work or not. I might try some isometric/orthographic images next.
You're very welcome! I'm really glad to hear that you're learning and experimenting along the way. Trying out your own ideas is a great way to improve! Isometric and orthographic images sound like an awesome next step-definitely give them a go
Thank you for this drawing, I learned a lot again. I think though, the r42 fillet you drew for the curved slot is incorrect. It is the angle between top and bottom of the slot that is shown as 42°, not r42. I believe the fillet should be r62 (70-8) or parallel with the outer side of the slot.
Thanks a lot for your comment! I’m really happy to hear you learned a lot from the video. You’re totally right, I made a mistake with the r42 fillet on the curved slot. It should’ve been a 42° angle, not r42. The correct fillet should be r62 or parallel to the outer edge of the slot. I try to be super careful, but I missed that one. Sorry about the error! The best way to fix it is definitely by using the parallel tool, like you mentioned. Thanks again for pointing it out!
@@librecadfree You're very welcome.
Well done.
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it!
Excellent job, thank you so much
Thank you! I’m really glad you liked it
unit beside the dimension?
The unit beside the dimension usually depends on the settings in the drawing. You can change it in LibreCAD by going to Options > Current Drawing Preferences > Units
Thank you! It was generally easy and fun to follow along and do this.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊 Awesome to hear it was easy and fun to follow. Let me know if you want to see anything else!
How to scale the image with exact measures?
"To scale an image with exact measurements in LibreCAD, here's what you can do: Import Your Image: Start by bringing your image into LibreCAD. Measure Something You Know: Use the measuring tool to find the length of something in the image that you already know the size of. Figure Out the Scale Factor: Take the size you want that length to be and divide it by the measured length to get your scale factor. Scale the Image: Go to 'Modify' > 'Scale', pick your image, and enter the scale factor. Make sure you choose a reference point, like a corner or the center. Double-Check the Size: Measure that same length again to make sure it’s the size you want. That should do the trick! Let me know if you have any other questions."

This we can do in AutoCAD also na.
Yes, you can definitely do this in AutoCAD too! I focus on LibreCAD because it's free and open-source. If you're interested in learning LibreCAD or exploring a free option, these tutorials are for you. Thanks so much for watching.
fron download ??
Hey there! Thanks for the comment. Did you mean 'from download'? Could you explain a bit more? Thanks
Cmon, how can you compare ACAD with LibreCad ? The first is a complete professional suite (expensive off course), productivity oriented ; LibreCad is just a toy (we all love free software , but...) . Is possibile to realize the same 2d drawing with ACAD or LibreCad , but with the second you will need double time ! You should compare LIbreCad with Draftsight, BrycsCad , NanoCad etc etc ....
You bring up some valid points about the differences between AutoCAD and LibreCAD. AutoCAD is indeed a comprehensive professional suite with extensive features designed for high productivity, while LibreCAD is a more lightweight, free alternative. However, for many users, especially those working on simpler 2D drawings or those just starting out, LibreCAD can be a practical and cost-effective option. It's also great for educational purposes and for those who prefer open-source software. You're right that comparisons might be more fair with other lightweight CAD tools like DraftSight, BricsCAD, or NanoCAD. Each tool has its own strengths and is suited to different needs and budgets. Ultimately, the best tool depends on the specific requirements of the project and the user's familiarity with the software. Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll consider it for future comparisons!
@@librecadfree I am learning to use LibreCad , and I used ACAD and Drafsight for years. Of course I noticed the differences, but I appreciate LibreCad because it is free. But I was expected LibreCad little bit more efficient, same as other free software (Scribus for DTP, GIMP or OBS Studio ...)
Amazing ✨💯
Thanks...
Is possible to have on the same drawing dimensions with different size ?
sorry, maybe you want to ask: Is it possible to have different dimension settings in one drawing file in LibreCAD? The answer is no, but alternatively, you can use the properties button to change the dimension settings for the parts you want.
@@librecadfree ...yes, but the change will affect the whole drawing...
That's excellent.
Thank you very much for the tutorial! I'm learning LibreCAD after using AutoCAD for years, guides like this will help me a lot in learning how to use tools.
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it. Switching from AutoCAD to LibreCAD can be a bit tricky, but you'll get the hang of it. If you have any questions, just hit me up. Happy designing!
Simple, draw a square rotate 45 deg snap 4 lines to middle of each side of square, line length should be long enough for trimming. using construction lines, each one, top, bottom and sides are the boundaries where the snapped lines will trim. trim where needed. I look at shapes rather than lines with angles, surprising how shapes make objects when combined. Good video btw.
