Levine has luck, at ths time the Berlin Philh has the "old" golden sound from the Karajan era. Schellenberger was the best orchestra oboe player for sure. At the end of the Abbado time the orchestra played like a glorifed chamber orchestra. They settled the legend, that they hear on each other now better and this is the golden time now, i do not believe it.

Amazing performance by one of the great musical talents of the century. So what that he had sex with boys wanting to advance their careers. He was never convicted of anything. GOD BLESS JIMMY LEVINE!! At Tanglewood you couldn't keep the boys away from him!!

This is divine! I've been listening to many videos of The Shepherd on the Rock, and this is the best by far. Erika Köth's breathtaking voice is, as always, like clear bells, and the clarinet is outstanding. I loved Rita Streich's vocal performance but the clarinet was just not good enough. This wins. 10 stars!

I wonder if Levine will ever resume any conducting in Vienna or Berlin. I treasure the recordings I have with him and the VPO and BPO. They really were a good fit musically.
