I look forward to hearing from other rail enthusiasts who share the hobby. All I ask is please keep it friendly on here so we can all get along :).

London Air Ambulance McDonnell Douglas MD902 Explorer G-EHMS Takeoff from Battersea Heliport 13/05
Something for the Aviation enthusiasts on this channel. Back in May, I was on a stroll along the River Thames, when the path took me alongside Battersea Heliport. I was surprised to see a London Air Ambulance MD902 on the Helipad. Not sure if this aircraft is a regular visitor, but it's not something I've seen there before or on Radar....maintenance perhaps?
I believe the MD902s will eventually be replaced by EC135s, which will be a shame as the MD902 has such a distinctive sound to it, nonetheless, I do plan to visit Battersea Heliport for more helicopter spotting very soon!
Thank you for watching!

Travelling with Avanti West Coast on my favourite unit of their's - 221101, the first in number of their 'Super Voyager' DMU fleet, this one is special to me as it not only is the last remaining named Voyager in their fleet, with the removal of 221116, but this one bears the ex. These are basically Class 319s that have been modified to run on Diesel and 25kV AC Overhead power sources. This unit, 796456 (319456) is running on the Southport - Stalybridge service, plenty of views through the countryside, before heading through the suburb...

319012 - the LOUDEST LNWR Class 319! Absolute HELLFIRE! London Euston - Harrow & Wealdstone 2K63

Taking a ride on one of the more special Class 319s, 319012 - now sadly scrapped along with 319429. This unit was famous amongst many enthusiasts, for one it sported the original Network SouthEast Edward Pond murals. But also, it had the most growliest and loudest traction motors on any LNWR 319. I cannot say it was the loudest 319 in existence, as many Northern 319/3s have proved different (31...

So I waited at Seaford for the next return service, which was my added bonus catch! 313201 is famous for being the Class 313 unit painted in the old British Rail blue/grey livery. Personally I think it looks rather fitting. This video includes some amazing th...

Not entirely sure if this term is still used, now that the Circle Line is no long...

A little something on the Aviation side of my channel. After coming back from the 1938 Stock tour on Sunday, I heard the sound of the Air Ambulance flying in (those who are aware of it will know the MD902 has a very distinctive sound). I'm used to it flying over my neighbourhood on its cross-London journeys. However it came in very low and so I followed it to the park down the road. Turns out i...

The EC135s took over from the MD902s the 2nd of October.
Nice to see one of these in action. Also that could allow for one of these units to be preserved in the future because they are diesel/electric bi-mode. So they could use diesel mode on heritage lines. I grew up with the Class 319's and I am glad to see these are still used. Hopefully more of these will be used by Northern and also Scotrail are trialling some of these as well mate. They are great units and way more comfortable over the modern crap in my opinion. All the best, Peter.
This one always liked to sing, even back in the days of NSE ;). Shame this one got its wings but I would like to see at least one preserved. Maybe LSL trains could buy one for its fleet?
Cool

@@KingsCrossThameslink 😀😀😀😀😀
the 1972mk1 was needed quickly to help out the 1959 stock to help the 1959 stock to cover all Northern Line services, as there was not enough 1959 stock trains and so it copied the 1967 stock bodyshell design but to be driven manually and including a guard
The 1972 Stock was originally running alongside the 1938 Stock on the Northern Line, and about a year later the 72 Mk 2 Stock (which still runs on the Bakerloo Line now) came to the Northern Line to join it. (Mk 1 units had unpainted silver doors, the Mk2's had red doors, and whilst the Mk1's remained on the Northern Line, the Mk2's transferred eventually to the Jubilee Line, via the Bakerloo. 1959 Stock wasn't released from the Piccadilly Line until sufficient 1973 Stock was available.
We have still have 320s in Scotland thankfully ill be sad the day they go
Sounds like a mix of Z 8800/20500 on 25 kV
I miss these trains with thameslink
I saw that train in Rayners Lane so I think it was going for scrap cos the new Piccadilly line trains are coming soon
nope! this RAT is actually comprised of half of a normal sized unit and has specialised equipment to run as a RAT in the autumn season, it won’t be scrapped until the 25TS comes along
@@chilsie no it’s not 2025 stock it’s 2024 stock cos they gonna bet tested in summer 2024 on the Piccadilly line

Why aren’t they scrapped yet grubby old fleet
Because the 730s are still on test and train crew have not been fully trained or signed off on them. 319s however are being reduced this month with 2x more being taken out of service. No idea what units though
The 319s last day of operation should be on monday apparently..? But it depends when the 730s enter service (i assume in just less than 2 weeks maybe but idk)
-I am hoping to ride one on the 23rd of Oct, i asked some staff members, and they said the 319 should be operational then
Hi, yes they are supposedly staying till 20th November, although I feel they will keep going on for a little bit more after then@@alivinghuman1

Line Speed on the Slows goes up from 75mph to 90mph at around Harlesden Junction, to be precise (6 miles 03 Chains on the Down Slow and 6 miles 10 chains on the Up Slow). Around the Wembley Central section, the line speed drops back down to 75mph (between 8 miles 00 chains and 7 miles 60 chains on the Up Slow and 7 miles 79 chains and 7 miles 60 chains on the Down Slow). Around the Harrow & Wealdstone area line speed goes up to 100mph (9 miles 20 chains Down Slow and 11 miles 41 chains Up Slow).
Good dirty old fleet
They said they had the train in service but did not bring it out because of the hot weather due to no AC
That's weird, because they still use the 319s, even on the scorching days.

First time I went on a 321 was in 1995 in its Network South East colours and then First Great Eastern.
I love 1995 and good to know
Bruh imma try head out and catch one, they runnin on weekends? 😳
They run Monday-Friday during the morning and evening peak :). The timetable is set to change 21st May, but atm I can give you all the workings the 319s do if you like?
And they were first capital connect livery I do believe
That's right. As well as remaining in the FirstGroup livery through to Great Northern
How was the 321 one so quiet? I was on the 313 one and it was PACKED
I can only think that more enthusiasts attended the 313 tour than the 321 tours. I did see many posts in the 321 FB groups that many wouldn't be present for the 321s and would be on the 313s instead
It can also run on the metropolitan line between harrow on the hill and amersham
Ah yes that was the one I forgot about
I was still there at 19:52
I was hoping to have stayed to see it go, but sadly had to head off :(

Yes the 73 stock is much more modern in sprite of the one different, the 72 stock was a stop gap because they need trains in a hurry, the doors had wheels inside the bottom , which were always getting clogged up with dirt, 72s probably were The last trains with wheels in the doors , there no spare parts made for trains this old they have to be specially made and that’s becoming very expensive, cheaper to build new trains, when???? Regards JH
Hi, the door closing thing and the click click sound is caused by the fact these 72s are using 1930s technology. You might see new trains when your 80 years ago, the way the government carry’s on spending a billion pounds abroad every day. Regards JH
Ah ok, so the "click click click" sound when departing is from that? Interesting. I was always curious. It's weird how the doors are so jammy on the 1972 stock and yet on the 1973 stock close smoothly and all in unison, perhaps it has different technology or has been refurbished to fix it? Lol. I may not even be around by time they get new trains haha
@@KingsCrossThameslink That's the camshaft, a control mechanism in the electrical-gear that controlled how fast the motors would operate.
