Washington Coliseum has wonderful memories for me.❤ Grew up in a house right on K Street N.E near 3rd Street. My departed mother used to walk with my older sister and I to see the Ice Capades.❤1970s. Just mesmerized by the beautiful skating there and love watching it to this day. Mother always got us front--row seats. Fell in love with ice skating because of that. Aunt took me to see Roller Derby there too. Thank you for posting and sharing this with us all. Very informative and I appreciate it.🙂

Hello all, First of all i would like to thank you for the presentation. Yes! I,m deeply sadden by the elimination of DC STREET CARS. i went on a field trip to DC in 1960. It was amazing for me to see for the first time street cars outside of Boston ,mass. Further amazing me is that there was no overhead wire. Yet i witness small flashes coming from the undercarriage of those PCC cars.. Hence, the government should of stepped in and keeped a few of the conduit lines in revenue service in perpetuity. The main concern i have is that i have a process for years to improve electric mass transit😅 from the prespectivs of power distribuition. I would be drawing my skill set from my years as an electrician in automation machine building. I,ve been a licensed electrician since 1972. I am still currently employed as a night duty electrician for MBTA/KEOLIS commuter rail services at age 75. Yes, i would bring back the conduit and conduit plow. It would appear from the surface as it did in it,s heyday but i would automate it with respect to plow to overhead vice-versa and with semi automatic cleaning and maintaining without severe service disruptions. Once you get over that high Initial cost of installation, it would then economical to run the system. Don,t forget i,ll argue that buses on a dedicated ROW cost more to operate than a rail ROW. JUST LOOK AT FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION COMPARISONS STATS. also the manned plow pit would not exist. Change over could be done on the fly. My detailed idea is going through patent pending. I know it would work. BTW i visually look at the conduit like an industrial buss way between the two running rails. That is bus bars that conduct power. Made by a Square D electrical equipment manufacture. Miss Paula Walach-former industrial electrician, union member IBEW. I welcome feed back. Hence, there was never any research done by transit operators to implement improvements to the Conduit system of powering electric light rail. L

In a fact about history of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital as formerly federal psychiatric hospital in southeast area of Washington, DC, Dr. Robinson as the African American psychiatrist as the superintendent of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital founded the Mental Health Program for the Deaf on July 1963 following the New York State Hospital established the first mental health program for the deaf in New York City, New York in year of 1958 in our deaf history in Deaf Heritage. When I had learned about facts from Dr. Robinson having his chats with me, I met him on the hospital ground at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in early 1970’s. Then Dr. Robinson was the adjunct college professor who taught in Psychology classes at Gallaudet University in a fact.- History of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC is very interested.
