Thank you for posting this, and Act 1. I have not seen this ballet before. Greatly admire Evgenia Obraztsova and Leonid Sarafanov. I first saw Leonid when he was still a teenager and dancing with the Kiev company. I couldn't believe what I was seeing ... such a superb dancer, and I have admired Evgenia since I saw a documentary about her when she was still a student ... her beauty and grace and astonishing artistry obvious, even then. Thank you again for posting this.

The real treat here is to have seen FAITH HOPE & CHARITY….Such an underrated group! I wonder if they are still with us…They made such an impact on my younger days….A soundtrack to my teenage years.

I have a DVD and watched at least half a dozen times. Great music, dancers and Petit's choreography, Funny and entertaining.

Oskar Nebdal (1874-1930) était bohème (tchèque) et fût élève d'Antonin Dvórak. Il écrivit des opéras-contes de fées et son plus grand succès a été la présente Polenblut (Sang Polonais) sur un livret de Leo Stein, un des auteurs du texte de La Veuve Joyeuse de Léhar. Les décors sont très beaux et les chorégraphies des mazurkas, polkas et valses sont merveilleuses. Quelle élégance! Les chanteurs-comédiens sont des voix élues. La grande Ina Dressel comme Helena von Zaremba avait un timbre très agréable et une prestance de belle femme distinguée et charmeuse. Günther George comme le comte Bolo von Baranski, Marion Briner comme Wanda Kwasinskaja, Peter Garden comme Bronio von Propiel, Hansjoachim Worringen comme Pan Jan von Zaremba et Hilde Konetzni dans le rôle de Jadwiga Pawlowa. La magnifique performance des danseurs de l'Hamburgisches Staatsoper et la Nüremberg Symphoniker dirigée par Wolfgang Ebert. Le film et la prise de son étant de grande qualité comme dans les enregistrements des années '60. Hormis les danses qui se succèdent constamment il y a même une entrée de ballet orientale, à l'allure chinoise ou javanaise. L'action se déroule à Varsovie en 1886. Le final est une apothéose de danse et de joie. Dans cette histoire si gaie personne ne meurt...de rire. La mise en scène est formidable jusqu'au moindres détails. Bref, il n'y a que du beau à visionner et à écouter, emportés que nous sommes par cette musique enjôleuse qui nous porte aux nues. Quel talent avait Nebdal pour créer des mélodies! Le fait que les danses prennent le dessus sur le chant marque un certain degré de parenté avec La Fiance Vendue de Smetana. Quelle pièce formidable! Grand merci du partage.
