Просмотров 1096 месяцев назад
A month long assignment of learning to own the streets, get up close and personal with people and get out of my comfort zone in the attempt of making myself a better street photographer. In this video I give some tips about becoming more confident out on the streets and show you the images that I managed to capture while completing this task.

Wow great stuff! I really appreciate you explaining your thought process when anticipating interactions and interesting moments.
Thanks man I appreciate it, I’m glad you found some value in it
Hi there, I rly love the style of your edits, wondering if u have any presets or tips for editing, thx and great video
stopped watching after 38sec... lol, you're goin ta hell!
You are free to your opinion, shame it’s wrong 😂
hello im a beginner photographer and i been using my phone and a point and shoot camera and i wanna upgrade to something more serious like the sony a6000 (that's what i can afford for the moment) and i was wondering if it's any good, i know it is comparable to the newer cameras when it comes to stills like the a6400 and what not but i wanna know if it's decent in low light and if the dynamic range is decent also. love your videos keep it up!
Yeah I’d definitely say go for it the a6000 is still a great camera and I’d say stay clear of watching reviews it will just make you want to spend more money on a newer camera, just pair it with a nice prime lens or whatever you can afford and just get out and shoot. Everybody loves to talk about low light capabilities but realistically I never find myself needing to crank the ISO that high, if you are in complete darkness the photo is probably going to be bad anyway, so find and available light source or use a tripod. Good luck on your journey, hope photography can bring you as much joy as it does for me.
super underrated i cant believe this only has 4 likes
Thanks man I appreciate that 🙏
Beautiful street, where is this place? ❤
Arrecife in Lanzarote, it’s one of the Canary Islands just off west Africa
I have this same camera and lens combo and want to get into street photography, perfect video for me thanks!
Great video! I never write comments on here but I really believe you deserve to know you are doing a great job. Love to support smaller creators.. Btw that job on the ferry? I would love to do something similar.. would you mind sharing some details on that?
Hey thanks so much Teo, your support really does mean a lot and I really appreciate it. Yeah I was thinking about making a video about it, but I don’t think I’m aloud until after my contract. So I have some mixed feelings about the job, I really do love waking up everyday in a new location and the crew and the team here as so nice, but the job itself is very sales based and honestly quite boring. It’s a lot of standing around and I like to be pretty busy. I think maybe in the summer months it might be a bit more interesting. But there’s definitely pros and cons to the job, hope this helps let me know if there’s anything else you wanted to know.
messi is my guy🤝
😂yeah you know it
Would this setup be close enough as a substitute to a X100 series cameras in term of the size ? Also I really love your work. Came to look for picture samples of this particular lense and your work is just superb.
Yeah I would say so, I also had a Fuji X100V and I would say that was slightly smaller but only really because you get a nicer grip on the a6400. But I love this 20mm pancake it is so small and inconspicuous. Would definitely recommend. Really appreciate your support man, thanks so much 🙏
Cool really appreciate the reply man. @@NickWiggins20
Nice series. Having some origins from Madeira, I did appreciate it and you managed to gather wonderful moments in these parts of Funchal!
Thanks so much, really appreciate it looking forward to going back
Yeaah sigma cheers mate
you're welcome 👍
Nick Wiggins you have a new fan of your photography. Keep up the great work. Would like to join you on a photography walk. I shall bring my Nikon D5500
Hey Thanks a lot I appreciate your support, I would love that but unfortunately I have just started a new job as a photographer on a Cruise ship so I'm not going to be in the country for the next 8 months. New videos every week though, let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see.
"The puddle! Use the puddle .... that right there is the best picture in the history of mankind." -Me at 1:20. Stunning images, I love the way you go for shooting the moment as you walk by and then use the edit to bring out the mood you saw.
Ahahah thanks man I really appreciate the support, always gotta use them puddles😂
Great shots and I like the look you've given them. I'd like to replicate the softness and tone...any chance you could shed some light on how you achieved it? Cheers!
Hey thanks man appreciate it. Yeah of course I’ve been playing around with this look at lot recently, best way to do it is in curves. Essentially what you want to do is make a flat S curve, so plot 5 equally spaced points on the curve. Bring up the blacks (first point, bottom left) close to your second point. Then bring down your highlights (last point, top right) close towards your 4th point and should achieve that kind of soft look. Hopefully I explained this ok, let me know if you need some more help.
@@NickWiggins20 Thanks that's really helpful and Im sure your camera setup certainly helps.
WoW wonderful, where you rent the pickup? We go to iclande in september
Hi thanks so much, we got the pickup from Rent.is - I would definitely recommend they picked us up from the airport and we were on the road within 30 minutes, the perfect way to travel around Iceland as well. I hope you enjoy your trip!
Which month was this? And which tour company did you go to the Skaftafell Glacier with? Thanks for sharing through the wonderful visuals. I'm up there in May.
This was in the middle of November, I believe the tour company was called ‘Guide to Iceland’ I would recommend our tour guide was really funny. You’re welcome hope you enjoyed. Have a great time out there!
Awesome cinematography
Hey thank you so much, that means a lot to me 🙏
Looks like such a lovely trip with pickup truck. I have been twice in Iceland - amazing country! New Subscriber
Thanks so much really appreciate that, it had been a bucket list trip for a while would love to go back!
Very cool video, as I am interested in both street photography and the 2.8 90mm macro. Most of the time in this video you expose the photo for the bright sky, therefore the people in the foreground are often pretty underexposed. idk if that's the look you were going for in this video, but with the sony full frame cameras, you have a pretty high dynamic range, so you have a little bit of legroom when it comes to the exposure. You could try making the darker parts of your image slightly brighter while shooting. This will make the sky look overexposed on the camera display, but you can turn on overexposure "warning" and this will show you while shooting if something is really overexposed or if it just looks like that. And after the shoot you bring the detail back in post. Great video, really shows what the lens can do.
these look great! what's your film sim / editing process like? I just got an X70 and trying to go for more of this look
Hey man thanks for the support, these are all JPEGs straight out of the camera using the Kodak porta 400 v2 simulation. Here’s the recipe: Film simulation: classic chrome Dynamic range: DR400 Grain effect: Strong small Colour chrome effect: Strong Colour chrome effect blue: off WB: 5200K Red +1 Blue -6 Highlight: 0 Shadow: -2 Colour: +2 Sharpness: -2 Noise reduction: -4 Clarity: 0 (can go -2 but this will slow down your camera) ISO up to 6400 Then my exposure compensation in this video was accidentally about -1 but if you like this look then experiment with it. Hope this helps man, happy shooting
Amazing! The most useful video I have come across, helping me understand perspective distortion of the super wide lenses and their huge creative potential.
Thanks man that’s much appreciated
Brill work!
Thanks, its much appreciated
good stuff as usual dude!
Thanks man 🙌🏻
GOOD STUFF MAN! Love the vibe of these dude!

Hello from Australia. I’ll be visiting London in a few weeks so this a great timely video, very inspirational. Have subscribed…thanks mate.
Thanks David I appreciate your support, what part of Australia are you from? I’m heading out to Sydney later this year
@@NickWiggins20 Brisbane, I used to live in Sydney, you'll love it...good city, lots to see and do. I'm a kiwi but been living in Australia for the past few years. Aussies and kiwis are a fairly easy going lot.
@@Bigtbone205 Oh amazing, I’ve got my working holiday visa so hopefully I can explore the east coast a little bit. Know anywhere I can get some farm work😅? Really want to hop over to New Zealand as well at some point looks so beautiful
@@NickWiggins20 also, should add that in the Australian cities there is plenty of hospo work, rates vary but I have seen typically around $25 to $30Aud per hour. In Australia there is no tax on the first 18k you earn if you are a tax resident
Very enjoyable watch
Thanks Paul 👍🏻

Awesome POV, Nick! You got some fantastic images!
Thanks again Hugo, appreciate you 👍
Good photos, I used to walk the same area doing some street photography but you have demonstrated that there is always a different photo to be had that I hadn’t seen. 👍
