Sawtooth Range Part 1: Hiking a 50-mile Sawtooth High Route
We hiked 4 days and 50 miles (15 off trail) through the Sawtooth Wilderness, a section of the Rocky Mountains in Idaho. It was a challenging hike through one of the country's most beautiful, and probably most underrated, mountain ranges.
There's no official Sawtooth High Route. We strung a route together based on information we found online and looking at topographic maps. If you're interested in seeing a map of our exact route (both planned and what we actually hiked), feel free to reach out.
This video is Part 1 of 2! After finishing the hike, we rafted down the Salmon River and then biked 45 miles back to our starting point to close the loop. That video is coming soon... stay tuned!

Wind River High Route - 100 miles off trail (plus a 90-mile bike ride!)

We hiked (most of) the Wind River High Route, made popular by Andrew Skurka, and then we completed the loop by biking back to our car. It was a very challenging hike along the Continental Divide in Wyoming's Wind River Range, one of the country's most beautiful and remote mountain ranges. I’m moving to Rock Springs soon and I was curious about doing som peak bagging in the wind river range. Are there Grizzly Bears in the lower elevations out there?
I think there are some grizzlies in the area but not very many. We were not too concerned about it and decided not to carry bear spray. I've heard grizzlies are more common on the northern end of the range and at lower elevations, but I'd recommend doing some research and maybe talking to someone familiar with the area when you get out there. Some of the shops in the area definitely sold/rented bear spray, so they'd be able give you more information. Good luck with the move and enjoy the Winds!

Thanks for the sub! Nothing officially on the books yet, but we've talked about maybe going to the Sawtooth Range in Idaho and a places around the Seattle area. And hopefully a bikepacking trip or two somewhere!
