Stew Campbell's 2nd complete run in Loch Fad with Bluebird today, she really looked fast & I struggled to keep up with my camera on the return journey! (takeoff is about 2:00 into video) I think this has to be my favourite video yet as it looks fast! 🚀😮😍💙 [Please ask permission before using video]

How fast is going here? Anyone know
I've asked this same question in another video. Guess we'll have-ta go to the Wick to find out.
That's the single best piece of footage of the rebuilt K7 I've seen yet. Perfectly capturing her coming up on to the plane. Just beautiful 😊You should be rightly proud of your work there Hollie
Saw most of these runs in person.........still absolutely stunning!!!!!!
Such great footage you have of this!
Great video indeed!
40+ years at the bottom of a lake, presumed lost forever, now restored, nopt just to appearance, but to full working order once more. This is not Engineering, it is Magic. That boat ranks up there with Bismark, Tirpitz, Yamato, and Hood in terms of historical importance.
Beautiful video. Only one thing for me would have made it perfect.......one word....Coniston. However, I'm thankful shes back with us no matter where she was ran but....Coniston would have made it even more special...for me anyway.
Superb video!
150 isnt fast compared to Donald Campbell, where is this boat, never hear anything about it, the family arranged for it to be restored for public display, personally i feel its a wargrave sort of thing so its not all good fun and where onnearth is it
Fabulous! I composed an instrumental called 'Bluebird's Last Run' and uploaded it to RUclips, along with some screenshots of you guys. If you like the music you can use it on your videos anytime. Best wishes, Dave Woodley
She doesn't look happy on Water until rises, but then bye Eck does she go !!. I guess a jet aircraft taking off is like wheels freely turning on a runway. But a jet engine has to push by brute force when on water and she does sit very low down. That's my humble comment.
One of the most amazing things I've seen in years......I love the skippers handling of it! Running at that speed in a restored boat is brilliant, quite life affirming in our safety obsessed world......
I was watching the video, and I felt a chill all over. Spectacular achievement!
Dude was buried without his head 🤕
Does anyone know how many m.p.h.? Thank you in advance -
Brass Balls. totally
When is it going back to where it belongs?
STUPID TO RUN BLUEBIRD ON SUCH CHOPPY WATER,
Silly at best, and utterly STUPID to run Bluebird on such Rough Water,it's plain to see the stupidity, and inexperience of its owners,Donald souls have never run it out on such a serfice
I vote we give guy martin a go.
It had so much more to give, but I really hope they do not attempt another high speed run. There is no need. It's done what it was intended to do and now should be left to live happily in retirement. Amazing job. Float it occasionally and let it run to keep it operational, just don't give it much throttle.
Why such a small turnout?! It's fucking Bluebird K7, and only a dozen people care?
Very nice. Up over the kilpatricks
To all... We are campaigning to get Bluebird back kn the water where she belongs. Please please please could you take just 30 seconds of your time to sign our petition below if you want to see her running like this again... like she was designed to do... not stuck in a museum rotting away. Thank you in advance. chng.it/G6NNrJ6H
This exercise in revamping the only metaphorical cadences within heraldic miscommunicated pilchard farts are only going to cause erectile turd throwers to have vile fat wives that dare to remove their coal filled bras and scream "Do me hard, black boy" whilst farting tuneful punk numbers, obviously.
Mega. Great filming 👍
What a beautiful thing.
It’s a shame the Ruskin Museum want her decommissioned and locked away forever ☹️
Eh? Who says that?
Yes its a shame her rightful owners should want her back. More people will be able to see her ,by her real home. @naradaian
Bearing in mind the complete mess Bluebird was in, as lifted from the bottom of Coniston, that team did a miraculous job in restoring the boat. However, to then take the boat out and do 150mph is downright extraordinary in our bland times. I wonder who signed off the boat as fit for service (who provided insurance?). Why did they use a puddle like Loch Fad? It's only about a mile long.
Well done to all involved with re-creating apiece of history in this way.
Totally heroic piloting that infernal beautiful 'Bird'
What an amazing sight!
That moment she rises out of the water and begins to hydroplane 👍
Martin Withers should pilot her.
Wow, what a worthwhile and exciting project.
good one!
Best comeback of all time!
Sadly if Bluebird did not crash on return run it would have likely averaged 321 MPH which would still stand. Current record is 317 MPH. I guess the plan was to run it once and put it in a museum (I hope). It is not a stable design as we know; took the life of the original driver over 40 years ago. Any attempt at top speed is foolish.
gmcjetpilot in fact the boat that holds the record at 317 went significant faster than that but 317 was the average of the 2 passes. At any rate. The team that holds the record at 317 has a third generation boat that is getting very close to the 300 mark and showing no signs of stability. The record will in the 340’s by the end of 2020. All these guys are heros and should be applauded.
British Engineering Brilliance born again, huge respect to all those involved to this project. As for the 100 dislikes I can imagine that they come from idiots who are jealous of us Brits........
Just FANTASTIC !
Should use it to make another The Great Outdoors movie. You'll be ok put the skis on.
FANTASTIC! Well done to all the team involved, thanks fellas, you've done us all proud:)
Is the jet sound added in?
Should make another The Great Out Doors movie and have this as the thing pulling the unfortunate skier.
When I was about 4 years old, my father was stationed at a NATO Air Base in Britain (1957-1960). Mom and Dad heard that Sir Donald Campbell would be doing practice runs in this vehicle on the weekend on a lake near Dad's work. I think it was a Saturday and Sunday. Mom packed a picnic lunch for me, my brother, herself and Dad and off we went to watch Campbell. As I recall, the Bluebird had a short or non-existant vertical fin and a Union Jack on the fuselage at this time. I am not sure which incarnation of the Bluebird we were watching. We went out to this lake where the Bluebird was parked next to a small dock. A small group was working on the boat. Our viewpoint was a gently sloping field that went down to the water. The Bluebird was at the tiny wharf on the opposite shore. It began to lightly sprinkle a summer rain and the wind began to pick up a bit. After waiting several hours we heard the water had gotten too choppy for real practice runs so Sir Donald decided to do several test passes at a relatively low speed. So, after a few more minutes the Blubird was pushed away from the small dock and the jet engine was started with a loud bang and a lot of smoke. We sat and watched the small brightly painted vessel move out to the middle of the lake. The crowd began to grow in spite of the misty rain falling. We huddled under a large umbrella and wrapped up in blankets. Sir Donald revved up the jet engine and began a short run down the lake. He quickly disappeared down to one end of the lake. After a couple of minutes we spotted a small rooster tail on the lake and the Bluebird raced past with a roar. It was some test run! The PA announcer said the Bluebird went about 100kph on the first pass. We watched several passes and each time, the announcer said the Bluebird went by about 25kph faster with each pass. It began to rain more and more and the announcer stated the practice runs for the day had to end due to the increasing wind and waves. As I recall the Bluebird went a maximum of about 175-200kph that day. For 2 small kids who had never seen anything like it, it was an awesome day. I was very saddened a few years later when I saw the video of the crash on the news.
thanks for sharing that piece of history
I heard about this, now I see. Amazing, to the people who made it possible, thank you.
The crazy thing is this is actually capable of re-taking the record, what a story THAT would be, is no-one tempted to give it a nudge?
Well done to the team . A quite astonishing effort to put this craft back on the water.
Water is a bit too choppy for that machine.
CGI... including Nessie's little cameo : )
