This channel is all about the guitar, so many different old and new ones, too many to count. The ones that I am fortunate enough to acquire, I will record for fun, for posterity and in some cases so you know what you are buying, from me or someone else. Currently I have a mix of USA made and MIJ. I also want to pick up some made in Europe too. If I buy it, you can be sure I will make a video about it.. I am not a professional musician and am mostly self taught, so I make no special claims about my playing, but my hope is you will be able to hear the difference in the guitars and how they sound.

DYI Wool Blanket Anorak from scratch.

Hey, I had a couple of other videos where I talked about doing more an instructional video, well here we go. This may end up taking 4 or more videos to get through the entire process of making an anorak from a wool blanket. I will show you how I do it. I will also share some of the tools and supplies you will need to complete your project. I intend on making a lot more than this one pullover an...
#41 Dave Matthews Cover and a Dos EquisXX
Просмотров 45Год назад
I was recently divorced and recovering from that and Hurricane Sandy. Dave Matthews music helped me get through. I listened and did my best to capture Dave's unique vocalization. This is another song I will have to relearn, I haven't played it in a while
Sister Dave Matthews cover

This was from 2013 I believe, possibly 2014, it was a rough couple of years. A divorce, house flooded by Hurricane Sandy. Another love, another heart ache. My sister was always there for me, and I really connected with this Dave Matthews Song. I remember getting choked up as I was singing this and almost couldn't get the words out.
She will be loved drinking, beer and seeing if I can hit the high notes..

I found these old recordings from 2013. My son was hanging with me as a was jamming and singing some Maroon 5. I recall that song being pretty tough to sing and play. It was a good memory.
Jersey Shore Hurricane Sanding Rebuilding Song

A buddy of mine wrote this song after Hurricane Sandy and we recorded in the family room of my house that was flooded during Sandy. I just realized the Irony as I was writing this, my house needed to be gutted and the entire first floor redone. This was after I was finished with this room. He named it welcomemat by the sea. We were supposed to be a coffee house band and never got any farther th...

I owned this guitar for too short a time, it was when I thought I was going to be buying and selling more guitars for this channel. If you see one of these in good shape pick it up.. Looking back, I think it sounds really nice and resonate. I was just learning she talks to Angels and probably ran through 30 20 second clips just to get this far without messing it up.. this guitar really like the...
Breedlove Oregon Burst Concert Acoustic with a cover of Amos Lee's Windows are Rolled Down.

Breedlove makes some really awesome guitars, I am sorry I sold this one, like so many guitars that I have loved and lost. It is sort of like Willy Nelson's to all the guitars I've loved before.. I'm glad they came along.. I hope to find another soon. I shot this at the kitchen table of my brother's beach house in Sea Girt as I was waiting to close on a townhouse I had purchased. I hope you like...
Hohner HW300GBS Acoustic Guitar

This is an acoustic guitar that I found on the Facebook Marketplace, the person who was selling it for $150 didn't realize the bridge was lifting and the guitar would need to be repaired to be playable. He gave it to me, and then I repaired it and it is now playable again. In the short video I play some chords and some simple progressions of a couple of songs you may have heard to give you a fe...

This is not really a how to video, my intention is to do a series where if you want to make one, I will video the steps, with the materials and overall cost and you can see what I go through as a beginner to put a couple more these together. I have made 2 so far, but now I want to make one for my son, who is a big dude and it will be a challenge. He is a powerlifter with a 52" chest and massive...
DIY Wool Anorak from a Military Surplus Blanket

I wanted a wool anorak for my son and myself and ended up getting scammed on a too good to be true deal from Fakebook. They send me a lightweight fleece pullover.. I definitely got fleeced, so I decided I would make them myself. This is one of a series where I will take you through my process of making a couple for my son and a buddy. I am a novice and you will see what it takes if you are too....
Guild Madeira 600R Jumbo refinishing project, going for a two-tone to match Rosewood back and sides
Просмотров 472 года назад
This is a really nicely maintained guitar from the 70's I believe. In another video I will put up the specs. When I purchased it from the original owner, it had some deep scratches on the top, which was a great opportunity to do a new finish on the top. It could look great when I am done. This is an opportunity to learn from my first attempt and maybe encourage you to try to refinish and old gu...
Washburn Lake Side Jumbo LSJ743SK Review, Open E and Open C tunes bring out the best of this one.
Просмотров 1882 года назад
This is in my estimation a very under-rated guitar, and I am hopefully going to change that just a little with this video and maybe another one. From the product launch: "Washburn originally introduced the Lakeside Jumbo model in 1912 and it is considered the first dreadnought sized guitar. It bridged the gap between smaller bodied parlor guitars of the late 19th and early 20th century and mode...

My guitar is identical to that. I absolutely love it.
Great review ! Just found one of these Epiphone aj500RE in mint condition with plastic still on pickguard. It’s a 2007 model. Do you still have yours . If so you still using same strings / reason I ask is a lot of good strings have hit the market since you made this review. If I should return for some resin let me know LOL thanks! Jeff Clark from Rockdale Texas
Love the Epi Masterbilt and IBGs❤️
Hey I have the same guitar that has a lot of E string feedback for some reason.Do you know how to fix that problem?
I appreciate your thorough reflections on the anorak. And your honesty. Some people post information about wool anoraks as if wool was some kind of magic material. Great job!
Did you ever sell this guitar? I am interested!
Good job
Bought my aj500rens about 16 or 17 years ago new, I believe it’s an 05 model. Was young and didn’t care for it so well and it has a couple top cracks now. Have never repaired it but the thing has opened up unbelievably, just a cannon. Very well built and great sounding guitar. Plays easy, but she is big. Cheers 🍻
My grandmother bought me a 1979 model when I graduated from high school in 1980. Still have it, but it needs setting up. Thanks!
Rooky moves?!? You tackled something my wife, who sewed her wedding dress many years ago & has done countless other projects, wouldn't even consider. You found a problem & addressed it with working method & even some style. Attaboy!
well done Esquire, i am in the process of obtaining a wool blanket as i typed this , i am going to purge your brilliant idea if attaching a hook system to mine. i made a very basic one about 35 years ago and left it tin the woods. nice colour busgcrafy over and beanie, well, keep up the good work, please can make one for me, ha,ha,ha. i too far away over the pond in the UK. keep up the good work ,cheers HANS.
I have this guitar. Bought it new about 15 yrs ago for $700. Then paid for a set-up and a Baggs Element pickup. It sounded great when I bought it...and at the guitar shop I played it against J-45 Gibsons. The Epi sounded better, so I bought it. The sound has gotten better with age. My only complaint about it is the thin nut width. I believe it's 1.67 or 1.68. I prefer a 1.75...easier for fingerstyle. However, this guitar is a f'n sound cannon. It's Loud, clear and deep! I've played with friends who have vintage Martin dreds and they love my Epi AJ 500 Rosewood!
You sure right about it being loud and bright. How in the world can I tame it down. It a new 2007 model that been lost in guitar center ware house for 17 years. Don’t show a sign of ever being played. Plastic still on pickguard. Put bone pins and a fresh set of Martin retro’s on it 12-54s. I’ve shaved the saddle and the action is low with no buzz anywhere. It’s got to be played in first. Put a ToneRite on it today. Any suggestions how I can tame this beast down for as strings. If it’s going to stay this bright I will sell it
@@jefferyclark351 IDK. Mine doesn't have the too-bright. It's more midrange with nice bass low end. I added ebony pins. Maybe you can turn down the treble if you plug in and run it through a DI and add a pedal like a Fishman Aura? Or maybe playing it a lot will break it in and change the sound?
Hey, great job especially considering it was your first go at it. I'm thinking of making one myself. Thanks for the video.
I was looking for inspiration and you gave me that😊 Good idea and it's cool ❤
Great review, just picked up a used AJ-500 RNS. Beautiful guitar, really something special about it
Hey man can ya help me out with the dimensions of the bridge and the nut on the ft130? Trying to restore mine and can't find any specs for replacing the bridge and nut. Would be much appreciated.
Saya dari Indonesia punya gutar Hohner HW 200 GBS tahun 2000 apa anda minat saya mau jual
dude you did a great job. if i saw that on esty for like 220$ i would provably buy it.. lol
I just got hold of the AJ 500 RNS. Just tonight, I swapped an Epiphone Casino for it, I wasn't playing the Casino, so let it go to someone who wants one. So, I've only had it a few hours, but I'm more than happy with it. Great projection, well balanced, between the bass and treble. This one has barely been played. I'm about to change that. And it will sound better with age. I think it's a keeper. I have a Washburn, that was given to me, and it's a nice sounding guitar, but this is a different league.
Hey man, you recaptured Dave's work really well and more importantly, gave it a unique take. Can't say enough about your job here, i'm a youtube acoustic guitarist like u and it's a thrill to be part of the fanbase for you, 55GuitarsJauggernaut!
Thank you, i just saw your comment. I really appreciate your response!!! I had recently found some old recordings I made and decided to put this one up. I love the song and had a great time learning it. I need to work on it again.
Awesome job
Thank you, I will be putting together the final video with pictures of the finished product.
Das ist sehr schön. 🙂
Très joli son et très beau jeu guitare. Bravo ! 👍
Thank you! One of the many guitars I later regret selling.
The Epiphone is all SOLID wood. A key distinction. No laminates. Hide glue. Dovetail neck.
Agreed, it is a really nice guitar!
Both of them you made look good.
How did the FT-130 bridge fill in on that Epiphone (did it sound marginally or much better than the adjustable)? I just got an old FT-130 and giving it some love. I am wonderinf about a bridge enhancement beyond replacing plastic saddle w/TUSQ one. I am thinking of either putting on new bridge or a mod like what you did. Thanks
Nice!
pair that with a windbreaker and thats all you need
At first I thought I preferred the sound of the Yiarri...then I went back and forward, and the depth of the sound on the masterbilt is noticeably better IMO.
Nice.
Great video.Thanks
Wow, do you have any plan of it please??
I am sorry I don't. I used a really cheap hoody as a general pattern for it. The inside of the collar came from an old overcoat, which helped a bit. I pretty much just looked at pictures of other professionaly produced Anoraks and did my best.. It still needs a bit of finish work for the hood. The blanket I used for this one wasn't really thick, so where I applied the snaps had issues. I should have used backing to help support the wool in those locations. It was really a fun project. I did a second one that came out pretty well. But not without challenges to overcome. My sewing machine is $100 brother from Walmart, it was not the greatest. I am in the process of looking for a vintage Singer with a longer arm. Wool is thick, obviously, which makes it harder to stitch. I have plans to do a couple more as the weather turns. Thread was suprisingly expensive, probably go with Nylon. Look for me to do another video in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Спасибо за обзор! У нас в россии эта модель поставлялась с другими колками.
What song is that?
Hi Jessica, thanks for watching! It was Melissa by the Alma Bros. If you play songs too accurately, the algorithm picks you up and you may end up with a copy right issue, I haven't had any issues with this song, so I must not be playing it perfectly, which is fine, it is really just to hear the guitar through a chord progression.
Melissa can't find her way home to Angie 😂!
I THINK IF YOU TOOK OFF THAT STUPID HAT IT MIGHT SOUND BETTER:) SO AWESOME. WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR SALE IN VINTAGE REASONABLE. I SAW YOUR VIDEO ON THE HARMONY???RECENT. I WANT A MARTIN SOUND SIGMA JAPAN, OR SEAGUL BUT THEY PULL APART CEDAR TOP?, HOW ABOUT ANY GUILDS??? I LIKE USA AND I HAVE A GUY WHO CAN REPAIR. YOU ARE IN POINT PLEASANT NJ?? I AM IN SNJ. I BOUGHT A SIGMA MARTIN JAPAN SUNBURST 300 THE SELLER NEVER SENT IT , SO MUCH FOR MARKET PLACE FACE BOOK. HEY YOUR PRETTY GOOD.
I wear hats when it is cold in my room. :-) and on video sometimes because of the head glare.. I responded to your email. Yes, I have some guitars, the Harmony is still in production, I am refinishing it and need some time to get it back together.. The Epiphone FT-130 Caballero really surpised me as a great sounding guitar for the body style. I will be putting up some videos this evening if I have the chance. Most of the guitars I have are already set up and in good playing condition, only a couple need tweaking or real work. A Vito Leblanc Dreadnought sounds pretty nice, it has a bolt on neck, that your guy could probably get the neck straight in a few minutes. I listed them all in the email. Thanks for watching.
This was one great review. All the things I am, myself, doing in trying out several guitars, buying them low, selling them months later after I have enjoyed them, you have reinforced why. It is fun, it is musical culture to be in awe of different woods, shapes, history. Thank you. One of the points you make, and others Gil to comment on up front, is that these beauties my one day need the dreaded neck reset. Only the quality brand bolt one, at least that I know of, will not make your mind or stomach squirm talking about the eventual need, or desired need, for a neck reset to keep your beauty playing like it can, comfortably, and with excellent intonation.
Thanks for checking out the vid! I needed to do a little work on my kitchen, so it slowed down my process here. I have couple of guitars ready to review. I have that lefty Takamine, that I made a right handed guitar and it sounds really good! I watched an Australian luthier who did a neck reset using steam, clamping and time, I am going to make a video as I have a couple that need it and I am not ready to do the full blown neck removal. The Vito Leblanc has a bolt on and so does the FT-130 Epiphone.. So, they are out there. I am going to try the clamp version first, before I start the neck removal process. Thanks for the comment too!
Nice video mate!!! Get to the top quicker - P R O M O S M !
Great video, and beautiful guitar. Is it still for sale??
Hey Eric, thanks for checking out the video. The guitar sold. But I do see these Masterbilts come up on FB, and sometimes in the Guitar Center used section. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one when I have the chance. I am just sitting on too many guitars right now.
@@55guitarsjuggernaut50 How much do you think the range will be for the one you sold? I like the rosewood sides and back one better than the mahogany. I know it depends on the condition, how many times it has been sold, etc. But what’s a ballpark range for the one you sold if there are any out there, used?
@@joq702 Actually, Guitar Center has a good used selection of guitars, aside from CG or FB, they are pretty reasonable. I have seen them from $350 to $600. I paid $500 and ended up selling for $400 plus shipping in an auction through Ebay. It was set up really well, and was in good shape. What state are you in? I am looking for guitars everyday. If i see one, I will give you a heads up.
@@joq702 There is an inspired by Gibson, Epiphone Texan in a nice sunburst on FB market place for $400. I would bet it is very similar, not sure if it is Rosewood or Mahogany. They are out there.
There is one that has a pickup, out on Reverb, $400 plus shipping, I also found one on FB in Akron Ohio for $350. Looks pretty nice
