Flawless vocal cover, of course… But, in the case of a song which has such an iconic instrumental accompaniment, we are leaving that out constitute such a distraction that it diminishes the lead vocal, then it becomes counterproductive. I’m not sure what the intent of this is, so that may not matter at all… Just a general observation I had. Maybe you didn’t have that many choices as to accompaniment.
I will make the opposing comment. As I listened to this performance, I noticed the accompaniment was sparse - piano only - and I loved it (I am a pianist). Other than the background vocals, this stripped-down version featured the lead vocal which, as you say, is flawless. To my ear, everything about this video was excellent.
Tall order, but you nailed it, man. Excellent cover.
