Nice conversation. However, the Dangote refinery part hasn't aged well. There is a progressive increase in fuel price and cost of transportation is expected to significantly rise if not soar.

Now it is up to our leadership in government to implement policies that enable the value addition to our commodities you have just mentioned, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, isn't it? In other words, our progress in Africa depends on what our leadership does or does not do for our common good. The lack of good leadership or precisely GOOD GOVERNANCE is the only intractable problem we are facing, a detriment and an "impediment" to our progress pervasive throughout Africa since independence. Indeed, individual Africans and their families may have prospered since then. However, it takes organisation, planning, as well as such policies that enable the value addition to our commodities and so on, to uplift millions of people in any country. That is where GOOD GOVERNANCE comes in. There isn't a single African country lacking the means and resources to prosper. Nevertheless, the means and resources at our disposal will never amount to anything in Africa until we have achieved GOOD GOVERNANCE. Therefore, the African countries are not yet rich, nor are they poor at all. We are simply badly governed "low-income" countries.

Great questions Nancy. This Government is the most dishonest Government Nigeria has ever had. Why are you lying to Nigerians that subsidy is gone? A Government built on lies can never achieve anything. Nancy asked the Minister to explain the disconnect in the landing cost of PMS and the actual price that Nigerians are currently buying. There was no answer. All he said was that there is no subsidy in the budget. This is a Government built on lies and deceit.

Very true

Over 70% of small and medium scale poultry farms have shutdown already. Though high cost of production is a factor, there are other major factors forcing farmers to shutdown. We all know all sector in nigeria is terribly hit by constant rise in cost, but nigerians adapt to the change and still buy at the new prices. The same applies to the poultry industry, but the major factor causing farmers to shut down now is the glut caused by the large scale producers like the hatcheries, that sell day old chicks to farmers, and after sales, the same hatcheries also follow the farmers to raise birds to maturity, bring their matured birds to the market at a giveaway price that is way lower than the general cost of production for the small and medium scale farmers that got day old chicks from them. In this way, they manipulate the market, abuse their dominance, and cause unfair competitions. At the end, this will put pressure on the small and medium scale farmers to sell at a loss or zero profits.
