Backpacking into the high country of Victoria, Australia to help a friend shoot his first public land sambar deer. We hunted backcountry terrain over three days in high temperatures, with steep hills, plenty of country music and harvested amazing fresh venison to cook over the fire.

Follow our trip to chase sambar deer on public land up on the mountain tops in the Victorian High Country. This backpack hunt saw four of us head out for a multi-day hunting adventure in cold and challenging cloudy conditions, hoping to help find a first high country deer for Ben and Charlie.
