Ford 1.6L Ecooboost Timing tool WARNING!
Просмотров 19 тыс.2 года назад
REVERSE THE TOOL! Just a tip when timing your 1.6L ecoboost engine. This was on a 2016 Ford Escape SE 2WD.
Thanks bro I already took my 2013 escape 1.6 apart 4 times also took the head off again ima try this tomorrow morning hopefully helps me with mine thanks 🙏
The crank pin is bending its very weak then you can not remove it easily , I removed it by locking plier but wasted time as no enough room for hand and put sockets there , I saw some mechanics has custom made that cran lock pin the strongest normal bolt but thread removed by grinder so it doesn't bend and no stuck, and the crank pulley need at least 500 nm to 1000 nm or more torque impact wrench battery or air ones to remove it without moving the crankshaft.
I have been in this exact situation with the same tool. Scouring the internet for more info and I found your video. Car has been back apart 4 times and same shaking issue. Thank you! I think you may have just saved myself and the customer a whole lot of a headache. 🙏🏼
@@ericyeagley7992 this is exactly why I made this video. I knew this was about to be a huge problem.
What you have to to is just turn the crankshaft back just a hair and the tool will slide in
How can you know if your tool is wrong?
Before I take any heads off or take any engine apart🫡 I always double up and make sure💁♂️and mark the timing first before each disassembly🤷♂️
My advice is dont buy Ford and if you have one trade it in this weekend. You gunna take a loss no matter when
The shop that is doing my water pump/timing belt just called and said theirs broke. Theyve had the car since last Wednesday
man i am facing the same problem here, same symptoms, will redo again, hopefully it will work, thanks from Malaysia
Did it work?
Im glad I saw this. Im getting ready to do one now
Bro Im struggling hard! P06B8 I got this code few times then went away, but my car still isn't getting any better it fails at low idle I changed the sprockets twice it didn't work Look out for me any piece of advice you can share it would be great
Oh my god! I’ve been tearing my hair out all day trying to figure this out. It’s 10:45 and I’m still at the shop LOL. Going to hit it again in the AM. Thanks so much!
did you fix it
@@MaseDawg-r2d did this help?
Thanks for the information, you would think the tool would have a stamped mark on it saying ,this side towards engine or something at least !
Yea I just used that Amazon tool started it up and it there a P0017 just tore it back apart I’ll try this flip method see if it works
I’m curious if it worked?
Did it work for you???
I have 123k on this engine. No problems. I'm really impressed. It's been a great engine.
"Promosm" 💯
Stupid question, if your crank is at tdc, and your cams are at the correct position with the rear tool installed, why does it matter the vct location? The intake and exhaust valves are gonna open and close correctly as the crank spins and the belt rotates?
Yup..
69' Highly Prized, High Value once restored, Even "As Is" it still holds a great value. Once restored, looking at 100K+, if done up correct . Good Luck, And God Speed 🙏
Oh yea! I have a pile of parts ready to go into it.
@@maddlabgarage Would love to see finished product 💜
👍🏼Let’s get that garage cleaned!
😅 That’s step 1
Sorry you had this issue and I know it's been up for a while, but I just want to make it clear so that others who are doing this can gain more information that can save them the headache that you went through. First off, if it is that far off when flipped as you stated then most likely it would not even be able to fit the camshaft sprockets prior to removing the timing belt. How I understand it, you are supposed to fit that into place along with the crank locking pin prior to even removing the harmonic balancer and timing belt. If that is the case that tool being flipped completely backwards and upside down and the teeth mark off by that much would not even fit to start with unless forced. The tool fits precisely so it could not even be installed per your video. I am not an expert but just from what you are saying u could not have put that tool on if you properly locked the crank and then installed that cramshaft locking tool prior to removing your timing belt. Just for those who are attempting to do this job just make sure you put the tools in place prior to removing the harmonic balancer bolt and timing belt. These are locking tools so it does what its supposed to do, lock everything in place, there is no way it will lock in place if you can't fit it prior.
@@BladeMoua-j9m yes, always verify prior to taking the belt off. I couldn’t do this because this customers car jumped timing, that’s why I took it apart.
I have ensured that I am using the proper TDC timing pin and even verified by checking inside cylinder number 1 and seeing the top of the piston. This tool will not go on my cams with the arrow facing up only down. Also notice how in multiple videos you can see positioning by 2 dots and a stamp like mark on each sprocket. When they are apparently correct is when the arrows are upside down for me idk what Ford is doing but glad I saw this. Almost think cheaper tools just print the arrows on the wrong side.
So we don't need lock the flywheel, right? I think it is not necessary, please comment thanks!
Necessarily, no, you don't, but you should. If your impact is of good quality and got that kinda busting power, go for it, however make sure 100% for sure that crank is hitting that tdc bolt, then you drill it back down. Always replace the harmonic balancer bolt. Its a 1 time use.
@@jduda1127 Thank you!
@martintran7837 no problem
You don’t have to but I would. I’m hard headed myself and still did it so that should tell you that you SHOULD.
I think you saved me a few days
Wow thats annoying
Ziptie fixes everything
I’m just about to start it and figured I’d look to see if there were any problems I got the same kit and just re labeled the tool thanks I think
Which tool kit is that? I bought the Shenzhen Dapeng Aoto Tools CO.,LTd model HTF-1002C-F1.6 would this apply to it?
Did the one tooth off cause any engine damage?
If you put tool arrow up it is 12 tooth between marks that's how it should be if upside down then 13 tooth between marks it's incorrect. So 🤷 Honestly have same issue after replacing timing belt engine is guttles and shakes a bit bought a better quality tool so going to compare with cheap ones
Did you figure anything out?
Thank you. My sons mechanic keeps having the same problem and he couldn't figure out why!
If this fixes the 2014 fusion with a 1.5 that won't won't start, I'm gona smooch ya
i haver this day this same problem! car shaking and i thinkin what is promblem. so its that. hope valves are still good
funny you said this i was doing a fiesta and the tool only went in that way i was confused but now im confused again because im doing another one and the tool goes bothways not sure how to insert it now and the cam plate on the back of the cams fits in the cams both ways smh
Sorry about your hell buddy but this video is not correct. You just have your timing off or something. I've done multiple ones of these and it fits that way and will not fit any other way
Yes, the arrow should be pointing up and facing you. My buddy just done one at the shop and used my tool and it runs perfect, now I have a 2013 Ford escape 1.6 to do this weekend. Gotta make sure you’re using the right crankshaft pin too.
Thanks for the insight on this. I'm still on the fence about doing this job. I did a 2002 2.0 focus sohc without much issue. I just can't seem to talk myself into this one.
Thank you 🇺🇸
What assholees. They keep making timing these duratec ecoturd engines harder and harder lol
Do you also have to flip the cta tool or just the Amazon tool.
No, you do not need to flip the cta tool. It goes straight in. Arrow pointing up.
Kingsley... AutoZone PN is 1090. The other tool is 2880. Now, the flywheel/flex plate tool is not there. Not sure where to het that. And the tool kit he has is better. Hey Vid Dude. What's the part number/Source of supply for that kit. Most DIYers don't have it.
They're universal Ford ecoboost/duratec timing tools for 4 bangers. Not the v6. V6 would have twice as many parts lol. Autoparts store will have a rental kit with everything but if not ask on the St forums. Bound to be people who know there. Edge autosport might have or corksport
Please how do I get this tool please
Thank you man appreciate this info
No problem
Dors this apply to 1.5 ecoboost and how many teeth before timing belt
Nice! You reached or 100 likes!
I’m glad I made the 10th like
You should do it and if you do I wish you good luck
Thank you!
