yes, and those were little "baby atom bombs" ... the bombs that humanity has developed since are 1000 times more powerful and we (humans) possess 10,000's of them, not just 2. There is a book called Hiroshima, it was required reading for me in Jr. High school, back in the 80s. I read people's first hand accounts of the things in this animation. This is when I first understood the horrors of war..

​@Ramses it was written during the cold war era- the heightened fear of these weapons was on everyone's mind. The potential use of the atomic bombs by the world powers. The imagery Black Sabbath uses in the lyrics is the destruction that they cause- "flash in the sky, houses into sties, buildings falling down" etc.

liked both films, prefer this classic :) Also, Oingo Boingo ! they are fantastic... wish i had the time to make more of these videos. I have a list of ideas..

I learned about it, by reading "Hiroshima" in Jr High School, as part of a social studies class. Years later I learned a TON about war and genocide, spanning last 5000 years...including watching this animation and 1000s + of other films and documentaries, reading news articles, etc... it's heavy stuff, i had to stop, because it messed with my head, all the suffering that "man" has bestowed on fellow humans... for what? Money, power, religion, ideologies, it's all insane...

no idea what all that means, you must be young... haha, but yeah, make it happen :)

the men on the ground had nothing to do with it, as they never controlled anything, they are just pawns in a game, played by other men. Japanese civilians and American military men and women were all victims. This is what war is. It's the most disgusting thing humanity has ever done to one another. I have heard that the US decided to drop the bombs to save the lives of 100,000s of more American soldiers, I have also heard it was an excuse to test the bombs out.. I think both are true. It was known that US had already killed more people in carpet bombing, than would die in the 2 a-bomb attacks, it was also known that many more American lives would be lost. I also have a feeling that money and power interests were at play... money and power speak to the greedy and warmongering men of our species. I guess the only good thing that came of it, is that we saw it's true horror and no nation has repeated it. Yet.

Bombing Japan was a necessary evil, as it prevented many many more deaths had a land invasion occurred which was the only other option. Japan was vehemently ready to fight to the bitter end. The death toll woulda been around 7-11 million more deaths between US and Japan. There’s obviously a lot of nuance with this and its an absolute tragedy that it occurred but the alternative choice would’ve been even worse
