The problem is/was YG. YG’s strategy, quality over quantity. At this point, he was making money out of Blackpink. He had his plan and he stuck to it which worked. Girls are talented but YG didn’t let them to show it, which is very disappointing. I’m sure they’ve written a lot of songs but YG didn’t give credit to them for it. Jennie mentioned on VLIVE that her notebook where she wrote so many songs someone took it, and she literally had to put a sign saying “things are going missing, don’t touch them”. We all know it didn’t magically disappear. that’s very strange( Now that they are free and they can do their solo stuff, we blinks notice the difference. They’re so active, they all are working on many projects. I hope we can see more of their work in the future. Hi everyone! We’ve seen the comments under this video that are taking some of our statements out of context, so we just want to clarify a few things: - We don’t dislike BLACKPINK. We said several times throughout the video that we actually like them as individuals, but they don’t appeal to us as a group to be invested in as a stan, mostly because of YG’s choices and mismanagement. - We don’t hate their music. We sing along and dance to their songs and you’ll find some of our favorite tracks of theirs on our personal playlists. What we said is that because Teddy is very formulaic about their music production, we don’t find their drops are as exciting as they could be with a more diverse production mix. - We never said BLACKPINK didn’t work hard. We said their success is not proportional to their output, which is true in the context of K-Pop and it doesn't negatively reflect on them AT ALL. Many groups have done a lot more and have reached nowhere near what BLACKPINK has accomplished. That’s not a read, it’s simply stating that factually speaking, their work was received more positively, more quickly, by more people. That’s what we’re saying. - We’re not comparing BLACKPINK’s musical output to any western artist. We said that verbally. We said that within the realms of K-Pop they haven’t done the standard promotion schedule of putting out an EP every six months - which is something Blinks have complained about for years. And again, we said the responsibility for that is on YG/Teddy, not on the girls. If you watch our episode from start to finish you will hear us make plenty of positive statements about them, defending them from unfair media treatment and toxic fan reactions, bashing YGE for their actions, and praising their work as individuals. The purpose of saying that we don’t stan them is to make clear that we are sharing our opinions as outsiders, because that lets you know as a viewer where our POV comes from.
