vscode is written in electron so the performance might not be the best but it's highly customizable and easy to use. if you want something that is not bloated, vim is the way. Saw your other comments stating it's hard to collaborate and you need to move files around. It's 10x faster if you learn to master the command lines and do everything with your keyboard. Collaboration can be done via git and drag n drop can be replaced with a simple mv command. The only caveat is if you're on Windows, you need to run wsl for the best vim experience.

vim is really good, i used it when i had a chromebook and parelally installed ubuntu on it. But now i have to collaboorate with a person who is 10k miles away from me, and webstrom gives me 100% control and my boos can see exactly what i wrote and what changes i have made, and he can directly add comments. I work with lot of pm ( who cannot code - prefer not to code ) they need commenting on through UI

I've used vscode, vim and webstorm. once you enable IdeaVim there isn't one single advantage vim has over JetBrains IDEs, on the contrary webstorm has loads, I mean loads of feature that you would never get from the whole ocean of vim plugins.
