It was a hot summer day, and I got too low in the wrong valley... with no thermals to climb out, I had to choose a landing field. The decision was easy - Admont has the best field in the area.

Da werden Erinnerungen wach 😍😍bin lange dort geflogen und wohne jetzt sogar in der Gegend 😊mit dem Segelflugzeug auf Asphalt landen durften wir allerdings nur in ganz seltenen Ausnahmefällen 😎

Went on my first glider ride last fall in the SoCal mountains. My test pilot instructor friend flew it and what a ride. I go again in a second.
Okay, now explain “this”. I know there are updrafts, but the whistling didn’t explain how you find them. Follow the clouds? Any clouds? Cirrus clouds? Is there a topo map you’re using? No? Just whistle? Okay…

im Unfallbericht steht dann das ein erfahrener Pilot mit der Tragfläche an einer Felskante hängengeblieben ist. Tolle Aufnahmen aber sehr riskannt. Ein Abwind und du hängst in der Felswand.
Das stimmt so zum Glück nicht. Mit 150mk/h+ kann mir ein Abwind nichts anhaben. Wie du im Video siehst, haben mich sogar Abwinde erwischt.

Wow. You’re only 21 and doing this. I’m nearly 50 and only just learning! I wonder, while you’re in the air over those beautiful mountains do you have time to enjoy it, or are you always preoccupied with height and outlanding options?
Learning never stops when flying gliders 😁 Of course i have time to enjoy the views. Especially because most areas are pretty familiar :)
