The cassette rejection of chain at 0 5 percent wear is subject to slight variation depending on condition of tooling at manufacture time of each component involved . Even Lazer cut chain wear tools vary slightly at the best of times to be honest . Chain cleanliness can influence the readings and "apparent" wear . The lubrication film after waxing will make the chain give a slightly lower reading on the wear gauge used , or high quality bearing cavity style vernier caliper , which is a better way to measure anyway . I use Mitutoyo calipers..
