My videos are usually high resolution videos of seascapes, deserts, forests and places of natural beauty. Occasionally they may be instructional. For example using Procreate, Final Cut Pro, Border Colllie dog tricks, fishing and boating. A work in progress as it is only recently I've had the time to spend working on it!

Rope Play with Rose the Short Haired Border Collie | Smooth Hair Border Collie | Dog Play
Просмотров 9002 года назад
Rosie's favourite game second only to perhaps ball catching and training is pulling on her rope. She is very gentle and you will note she is careful not to bite my hands when grabbing the rope. This like of growling and pulling is a peculiarly dog thing. Probably harking back to a her wild dog ancestry where dog packs would pull down prey? This kind of play is something a Short Haired Border Co...

As you may know Border Collies are the worlds most intelligent dog. However they are very demanding of your time and require lots of exercise daily. The rewards are great if you have the time and delight in your dog. I would never have got her had I not been retired. Such a delight at this time in my life!

I decided to make a brief video of a typical trip to one of our favourite dog parks. Hope you enjoy. A little history. Rosie is of working sheep dog stock and was born in the country near GrandChester South East Queensland in November 2019. She is what is know as a "Smooth Haired Border Collie". This is a working breed of BC that lacks the long hair of the conventional BC which makes then easie...

Point Lookout is a relatively remote holiday destination on the Northern tip of North Stradbroke Island. Access to the Island is via a vehicular ferry or water taxi from Cleveland on the mainland. The fact that the Island can't be reached directly by land from the mainland has largely preserved this b...

Right, Thanks. I'll try and fix it.
We have a boy named Max and he almost the same but has some anxiety issues when walking anywhere too busy with people. He is a 7 year old short haired BC. Rosie is beautiful. ❤
That music is horrible
Do you have and suggestions as to what you think it should have been?
Personally, I don’t think it’s a good match for the video. I would prefer there was no music. 😉
love collies
So cute
She looks a lot like mine, even the movement and laying down at your feet wanting you to throw a ball.
Mine must be far sighted he can catch a tennis ball from across our very large dog park but throw a treat a couple feet it will hit him in the face .😂
@@kevyak They are a lovely breed.
Smartest dogs
Why do you make your dog angry???? It is not nice.. They are angels..
She isn’t angry. Playing with the rope is one of her favourites things. Dogs are pack hunter’s. They are made of drag down prey with their teeth, grasp and shake things to death with their mouth. It is her biggest asset apart from her claws and running ability. In her life she doesn’t have to hunt but loves to chase the ball and pull the rope instead.
@@Bionic_Rob Ok, thanks for the answer
This is a great video showing why not everyone can just have a BC
Yeah, i would never have got one when i was working. They are very demanding of time and exercise. Not for everyone. But.. intelligent and very loyal and great companion dogs as long as you exercise them. Otherwise they are destructive and unhappy.
@@Bionic_Robabsolutely:).
I have a smooth coat female. Got her from a shelter and I wasn't sure she was a BC so I DNA tested her. Came back 100% BC and I didn't believe it till I did some research. @ 15% of BC's are smooth coated. It's amazing the number of people who don't know BCs are either smooth or rough-coated. I've had people tell me my girl is a mixed breed and not a true border collie. Her only downside is she is very standoffish to other people other than me. Not aggressive at all - but she completely ignores other people. She is at my side all the time. Couldn't love her more.
Yes I get the same story. Haven’t had her DNA tested but would just about bet my last dollar she is 100% SHBC. I am retired and at 72 the dog just about follows me every where. So intelligent and a real pleasure to have her around. Of course i have to take her for a run, a walk or a ball throw every day. Currently she has injured her front left shoulder from crazy running and acrobatic high speed turns. so she has been kept quiet for a couple of weeks now. Anyway take-care.
I have one too, people seem to think they are a cross breed. The shedding is what gets me as the smooth coats shed more.
Yeah, well shame on them. Showing their ignorance. We know better now!!
Aren't smooth coats the dominant gene ? Around here in Canada most are, because of working lines, they are wanted more because less upkeep on the coat.
i cant access Oculus Home anymore how did you get it to load?
It come preloaded on Oculus quest 2 headset, Also down load the down oculus app onto your pc.
This looks just like my puppy its so adorable
That's so cool. They are playing!
my dream dog
What a beautiful dog!
Our PB Border collie Is smooth coat and has boundless energy. Always alert, always watching out for things. Loves people, good with other dogs after a few interactions, loves going for long bike rides, but always down to chill and recharge her batteries. She’s just over 21 months and is 25lbs 😂 Just a little girl, but her speed is unmatched at the park. Really fast super amazing little dog.
I can relate to what you say. Sounds exactly like my little girl Rosie. So much energy and so eager to learn. A joy to have such intelligent and fun dogs.

Have a short hair collie You better be prepared to throw that ball
beautiful dog
Thanks, she is such a clever dog. Get so many laughs and smiles from her antics.
Are these mcnabbs or what is the difference between a smooth coat collie/a regular if you're looking to get one
Both types come from Scotland as far as I know. The smooth hair and shaggy hair are variations of the same breed. Both are Border Collies. The short hair is probably more suited to herding in warmer drier climates than the long hair.
I've had both rough coats (medium length hair) and smooth coats (short hair). The dog's are identical specific to personality and energy... they have boundless amounts of both. I've had males, and they're the perfect size -- about 22" at the shoulder and 50lbs to 60lbs. This size is on the large end of the spectrum for border collies, but I prefer a larger BC, so I work with a breeder who produces male BCs of that size. Big enough to be a deterrent, for sure, but not so big that I can't handle the dog when he's bursting with energy. They are, without debate, the smartest breed of dog in the world. That isn't hyperbole, but fact. Border collies have the highest K9 IQ of any registered or known dog breed, so they're very easy to train, relatively speaking. That isn't to say it's effortless, because it takes a lot of work to get the dog where you want him to be, but it isn't complex... the BC will do anything to please you, you just have to be consistent with them. If you want a dog with whom you can be very active, who will be a great family protector/companion, and who will be well behaved in any situation (with training), then a BC is your dog. If, however, you want a dog that will sleep much of the day, and who will be content with a 15-minute walk around the block in the evening, then the BC is most definitely NOT for you. They demand to be exercised frequently, and stimulated intellectually. Owning a BC is a commitment... but one that is well worth the time.
@@keithmichael5839 I have a smooth coated border collie, he's skinny but 74lbs. Is that normal weight for a healthy border collie with zero fat?
@@alishasonia566 Well, 74lbs is not a typical weight for a border collie. Having said that, unless your breeder supplied you with ABCA paperwork showing the dog's lineage and certifying the dog as a purebred BC, you might very well have a BC mix. None of this matters, though, because if you love your dog and if he's a healthy, well-conditioned dog, then whether or not he's pure or mixed is of no importance. My BC at 74lbs would be unhealthy and fat, but your dog at 74lbs has low body fat and sounds very fit. I'd wager that you have a BC mixed with a larger breed of dog.
@@alishasonia566 if he is off the walls and demands alot of attention, it doesnt matter if he is mixed, you have a border collie lol

Yes it is. Right on our door step. Glad you enjoyed it.
You must have seen the point where river Todd originates.
there are permanent springs at the Telegraph Station. If that is what you mean.
Robert Leftwick thanks for the reply. What I was curious about is that there are many seasonal rivers originating from Macdonel ranges. One of them is river Todd. These rivers must have a point of origin. Todd river just fascinates me.
Nice shots Robert, keep them coming mate.
Great opening.
Thanks LIzz appreciate your support! We’ll have to get together a create a youtube video on Wild Mountain. We should start gathering some film. Would be nice to include video of some of the your local fauna and flora. Try to get away from too much of the drone thing. I suggest you have a look at Phils youtube videos as an example of the best. Here is a link to his channel. ruclips.net/user/IntotheWildFilms
What amazing maps! Great shots.
Thanks Lizz.
Some really smooth shots there Robert looking good. Beautiful spot Straddie, been a while since I've been there, I must get back, that clear water looks so inviting.
Hi Phil, hope you are going well. No doubt planning your next Into the Wild Film. Thanks, Point Lookout has probably been done to death but it is so dynamic, windy one day calm the next. One of my favourite holiday spots. We are heading to Moonie Beach just North of Coffs Harbour later on this year for a few weeks. Can't wait. Should have the DJI Mavic air 2 by then. Hope to be able to get some good captures of that area. Takecare.
We loved Ormiston Gorge, its hard to get a true perspective on its size until you get up above it with a drone. Fire damage looks pretty much the same as when we were there in mid 2019. Look forward to seeing the next one. Cheers Phil
Thanks Phil, appreciate the encouragement. it is pretty amateurish compared to your videography/photography. I probably got carried away with too many sound effects in the Ormiston Gorge video. I’ve been looking at your films and studying your technique. Loved Fraser Island and the sand blow at Rainbow beach. Also the Daintree and Tassie. Haven’t looked at Kings Canyon and the Olgas., I think you have a video on Uluru. Did you hire a boat to get that film near Bruny Island? Spectacular ocean cliffs. Thinking about buying a better drone, probably a DJI Mavic air 2 and maybe a Osmo pocket 2. Look forwards to seeing your Blue Mountain footage. Regards Rob
@@Bionic_Rob Thanks Rob, it took me a little while work out my style and you never stop learning. I'm unfortunately afflicted with being a perfectionist, there are very few (if any) of my videos can I look back at and be 100% happy with. A two edged sword but I use it positively to try and make my next film that little bit better. Re Bruny those shots were taken from a Pennicott tour boat out to see the seal colonies in the Southern Ocean. All hand held videography (most of it unusable) but a few shots ok with some stabilisation in post. The New DJI drones are pretty impressive, the Mavic Air 2 shoots 4K at 60FPS wow!. I thought about an Osmo briefly too but in the end I decided it probably wouldn't suit my style of videography. It all depends on what you are looking to do. Cheers Phil
