The first step (left for males) is not in a forward direction. It is angled in to his right . Conversely the females first step is angled in to her left. Steps one and two are not really steps. You are merely rocking forward on one and rocking back on two making sure the foot without the weight on it comes off the floor. As such they are not steps. I see so much rock and roll taught incorrectly. If you are going to post an instructional video on youtube about dancing make sure it is correct.
