USPSA Divisions, Where to Start? Literally and Figuratively - CTG Podcast S2E7
This Podcast focuses on The USPSA Divisions as a whole.
Firstly, I wanted to discuss the age old question "What Division should I Start in?"
My goal to demystify the "getting started" portion of USPSA and encourage those that think they arent ready, or need to "get ready"....to just jump in. We are a VERY community oriented bunch and as long as you are SAFE, we have plenty of time for you! We will let you try and see gear, and help you aloong the way. But getting started is the main thing...the learning really starts AT the match, not online.
After the niceties, I wanted to discuss my thoughts on the USPSA Divisions as they currently stand- The Good and The Bad. WHat changes are good, what ...

Can you Earn a Patch?? CTG Standards 2025
Просмотров 4324 часа назад
Introducing new CTG Standards, simple to setup and score but not easy to pass... I like to hold a very "Do-able" but Challenging Standard for my Students and Classes, these drills became enjoyed enough in my training and classes that I compiled them into this. All skills tested cover most everything you will see in a USPSA Classifier or any Stand and Shoot scenario. I use 2 USPSA Targest at 7yd...
S2E6 Ft Rob Epifania - "Why you should have a COACH, not an Instructor"
Просмотров 3329 часов назад
Head to RobEpifania.net to check out what Rob has to offer! This episode I wanted to discuss the difference between that 25 year retire blah blah who wears a red vest and stands around a range all day telling war stories- and a REAL COACH. Dont get me wrong, they are not mutually exclusive. There are some fantastic Coaches who also work as RSO or teach NRA courses. But generally speaking, we ar...

Will Competition get you Killed in the Streets?? Cmon, Man....CTG Podcast S2E5
Просмотров 530День назад
I cant believe this is still even discussed... Local instructor Gino from 1st In LLC posted a great graph comparing the "skills" necessary in both a Gunfight or a Match...turns out they're quite similar. SO I invited him on to discuss. I just wanted to take a dive in for the sake of trying to dispel the myth... Turns out Competition WONT get you killed in the Streets. Actually, Turns out...it i...

Using the Framework of USPSA to learn the Rifle/Carbine Platform Once PCC Standards are met, pushing a 556 gun to 200yds should be a goal. PCSL/2gun/3Gun is a way better look at Performance.... Its not the training tha differs between Rifle and Pistol- just the STANDARDS and METRICS Efficiency is Efficiency...
Best Gear to get Started in Competition and Training Seriously
Просмотров 11914 дней назад
My recommendations on Gear to get started! Eveyrone has theor own gun proclivities, but I am OFTEN asked about "what gear/holster/belt" is best for Competition. Not only are the Ghost Holster options the best Ive found for USPSA, they have FANTASTIC longevity and quality for anything and offer CCW and duty gear.
S2E3 Hit Factor shooting and Stage Planning
Просмотров 31521 день назад
Just a quick look into Hit factor scoring and the math behind it. Math isnt fun but it helps justify good decisions... Then I break down my Process for Building Efficient Stage Plans There's a lot of Nuances and "What If's" I could go over infinitely...but I chose to keep it simple. If you want to Nerd out more hit me up!! I LOVE talking about this stuff. CallahanTrainingGroup.com
CTG Podcast S2E2 - CTG System, Skill vs Performance
Просмотров 24421 день назад
This episode focuses on the CTG system as I have defined it. Like all things in shooting, this is just my way and not the only way. I just needed to define a system both for Coaching myself and my students. The Second half focuses in on what I call Skill Vs Performance Training. I break down what I think it means to develop a Skill in certain drills vs What it means to actual have the skill in ...

Yeah, I train in the snow too.
I’m kinda disappointed you’re doing open with a beretta and not a Roland special and a 6 second mount
@@jacobedgar706 ahahahha I like Glocks to much to ever do that to Gaston’s memory 🤣🤣
Great stuff. You on Apple Podcasts? can't find you on there
@@bjustin just Spotify! I’ll figure out Apple Pods next lol I’m a old man at heart 🤣
I think ghink i just encountered you on reddit a couple days ago. Funny you now show up in my youtube feed. Small world.
@@FriendOxygen625 hahaha this community is a relatively small, but mighty lol
Wow! Love it man! Thats inspirational!
and you do it that fast with a stock g45
@@Jimmy-s4s6q yessir this is my main edc lol
Perfect! Thank you!
Noice!
Going to rep this out in dry fire, some good goals to work towards 🫡
This should be fun to try
I’ll be giving it a shot!
I WILL HAVE PATCH!
😎 lets go
👍
Instructor = Transactional Coach = Transformational 🤙🏾
@@Spence_gwg I love that!
Yes. I’ve always viewed shooting as a martial art. Love that perspective.
Dope
Good content and I really like the chart! The one variable that’s hard to test for with any type of performance standard is fortitude in the face of mortal danger. Even those who’ve been highly stress inoculated can’t always predict how they’ll react when the bullets start flying. More training is always more better and people will almost always revert to their level of mastery under extreme stress. But even the most skilled and trained operators sometimes freeze or even fold when it counts most. Sometimes the lesser man defeats the greater man and that’s really hard to accept.
Gino’s classes are great. I learn so much every class and he has made me a much better shooter.
🙏
What areas of your performance do you see impacted by running a race gun instead of a stock CCW?
@@SelfTaughtShooter I personally carry and compete with this same G45! I actually have gone back to a 100% bone stock other than the dot and some stick on grips. Doesn’t seem to matter to me, but as always reps and training are the real reason. Gear is minimal if fundamentals are sound
In times of stress You never RISE to the occasion you only FALL back to your lowest level of training!
Wish I saw this video sooner! Very informative. First time someone told me "lock your wrists" I thought what does that even mean 😂
🔥
Gino is a great coach!!! Highly Recommended! 🔫🔫🙏
🙏
If you carry for work, competition is mandatory. Not a substitute for training and practice but you need to shoot a few matches per year. Shake out your gear, meet better shooters, move, think under pressure.
@@Platoon_Guide hell yeah man you get it! I wish getting Professional Standards to cross over into Performance Standards was easier but I think it’s trending that way, finally.
@ for me just seeing another human go faster and hit better than anyone with a badge was a motivator and a reminder that I’m not pushing myself.
I love it that you run a 4” stock Glock to kick everyone’s ass! I wish I had found your account BEFORE I bought an X5 Legion and a Shadow 2 🤦♂️
I'm trying to make GM this year and that is crazy for a stock glock. Brantley Merriam is is awwww
That last transition 🤯 All the transitions 🔥
Great mental training session
alot of good information as always
Great video. I'm trying out PCC this year, and I will always call PCC Practically Cheating Constantly. Lol
To me if you think about cheating, it's 100% open major race guns. Getting 4 points for a charlie in minor scoring is insane compared to 3 points for minor. I recently shot a match with my infinity race gun and my god, I basically said I don't need to aim and shoot. Just shot fast and hit your charlies.
This is a gem of a video, priceless information. Saved to reference and rewatch. Thanks for sharing this !
@@JustinV911 thank you so much!!
Did you use the included mos plate from vortex to mount the optic?
@@chadumlauf5145 noooo I have my optics direct milled to the side by Impact Machinr
Happy the podcast is back
So much great information thank you for putting this out here. I’ll probably end up listening to it 2 or 3 times and taking notes.
@@CarlosV_25 thank you buddy!!!!
Really dig your mindset. Hopefully I'll be performing at a competition level by the end of this year.
I LIKE DOUBLES!
@@KOUNS34 haha me too don’t worry! I just like to take them a step further, and a step further, and a step….lol
Why is bro standing there 😂
Is this comment section full of bots? 💀
Smooth only critique being an old army guy is overexposing to targets while approaching a corner (which is probably not the intent of this video)
How do you like it
Which MOA did you go with 3 or 6?
