It was built by Bernard and Richard Woolsey of Mablethorpe Lincs, however I had some say in its design which was inspired by Rudi Kurth's "Kat" outfit. The design aim was for the bike to be no higher than a normal person's ( i.e.not mine) knee. As Paul says, this required hub centre steering facilitated by a Reliaint front hub ( kingpin is in the centre ), and a compressed rubber suspension at the front and a mini suspension unit at the rear. Making the Norton engine laid down required some fancy engineering which Bernard did. However, we suffered no end of oiling problems. I did ride it once at Cadwell and it amazed me how neutral the steering was with no lean into corners at all. Very easy to ride, slow or fast. After we found some large cracks in the frame following a meeting at Croft, Bernard and I started on a new frame design in 1972 which was based on a large offset central spar with wishbone suspension for the wheels inspired by F1 designs. It was never completed but I was amazed to find that the design was very similar to Louis Christian's effort some 5 years later. Ah well. What might have been. +Elisa Mamani Huisa Hi Elisa, The price for the actual trek itself varies a lot from company to company, time of year, availabilty ect. The local Nepali companies will be much cheaper depending on the quality, best to do some research here and ask lots of questions. The more main stream big brand companies with lots of advertisements and support in the more developed countries will be much more, but you'll have a better idea of the quality of service you're getting. When I did my research I found one Nepali company with excellent reviews (sorry totally forgot who they were)and also included food for much less than the western company I ended up going with (Gadventures). The only reason Why I didn't use the Nepali company was they didn't have many people booked on the trip, it would have been only myself and one other person. With regards to everything else, Food and water gets more expensive the higher you go. I would budget around £8-£10 ($10-14) a day for food as a minimum, Bring water purifying tablets or similar to save money as bottled water gets expensive higher up and you'll want to be drinking 3L a day minimum. Beer is crazy expensive up in the mountains, I think I paid 600 roupees in a bar in namche for a can of beer, compared to 200 back in KTM, which is around £4 or $5.50! but your guide will advise not to drink on the way up to avoid altitude sickness anyway ;) Almost any gear you need can be bought in Kathmandu very cheaply, its all fake north face and other brand gear, but of good quality, and the guides and locals use it so its fine. , best off bringing your own boots though, and anything technical is best bought from home. All I can think of right now, hope it helps :)
