So you just go into fishermans den and ask to rent a boat. Think its $100 half day or $140 for full day. They ask you for your boater safety course card i believe. Typically if you fish the channels back there you’ll do fine. Honestly if you do the full day rental you’ll probably cover all the water you can back there.

@@The_Bearded_Fisherman I had a great time, it seemed like every time you'd cast you'd get a hit. I ended up with a bunch of blues, 2 bonitos, and a bass.

@@darrenmcclellan9869 Yeah there was soo many peanuts in the back. That boat that pulled up on us gave us some good size mullet which was cool of him. Tide was full low around 1230 so the fishing kinda got limited in areas but it turned out to be decent for a last minute cancellation. Id imagine fishing the last few hours on incoming and first few of outgoing are ideal back there.

Hahaha he is a great dude. Weve known him for a long time. He said he does that on almost all his off days so i said let’s go!

Almost always using that rig. This trip i used a glow ball jig because i noticed on my last trip it was getting bit more frequently compared to the bucktail. Sometimes the bucktail out performs and sometimes the ball jig outperforms. I stuck with the ball jig on this trip. I lost footage of the biggest fish on this trip as well to complete my limit. 6-7lb range 26”. That fish ate the ball jig with pink shine grub tipped with fluke ribbon.

Yeah this video is New Jersey Ocean fluke fishing. Its understood there’s more area inland north of here but again were ocean fluke fishing. Your not getting more North on the ocean than Sandy Hook correct?

@@williamwest5827 Yeah so the way i interpret it if im doing an ocean fluke trip in New jersey Im considering Cape May to AC south, AC to Belmar central and Belmar to the tip of the hook north. I understand if were referencing all of NJ its interpreted differently but Im talking About NJ ocean points here.

I feel like the first two weeks of the season are always really good. Pretty much drop anything down set the hook and reel. Like automatic!They get hit hard though and it seems to slow down. My last fluke trip we had absolutely no drift the whole day so we switched it up and caught the sea bass pretty good. They were moving around though covering alot of water. Some people say moon phases effect the bite but in my experience ive caught them very good during the full moon and in between so its hard to trust that. Not saying it doesn’t play a part it just hasent been my experience. I think the pressure they get early season could effect the bite more honestly.

Yeah man that really is a beautiful stretch of stream up there! Im using a bait i make out of ground hatchery pellets.

@@The_Bearded_Fisherman Fluke fishing in the ocean has not been great up there so far this season. Lots of south winds and upwelling cold water.

@phillymanpete Yeah it seems like that’s been the case for alot of people. Fortunately we’ve been able to find some patches of fish on my trips. They definitely aren’t as spread out as in previous years at this time. Its been all about finding that patch of fish then repeating that drift over and over. The water temps really warmed up in the past few days so hopefully this is the week they start showing up in different areas

This trip was mostly 2oz and 3oz. 4oz towards the end. The spinning rod is a Tsunami Trophy Series 7ft Heavy. The conventional is a jiggingworld nexus 7ft heavy.

We were pretty much right in front of Monmouth Beach in this video

Very low wind most of the day on this trip. Was able to use 2oz almost the whole day. 3oz towards the end.

All the Fluke in this video came out of NJ waters. All were legal fish.

@@MartinVSmith6334 No Fluke were kept from New York. We started there caught a striper and moved down the beach at Sandy Hook like stated in the intro.

They are for sure harder to catch i agree. The ones i get are typically out of a fresh stocking so they are more susceptible to hit something. The ones i come across that have been in there for awhile hardly ever want to hit. That’s when light line and flys outproduce anything. But i agree out of all the stocked trout in PA they are the most difficult to trick!

Nothing crazy. About 6 feet of 20lb fluorocarbon leader. Either a plain diamond jig or ball jig with gulp on bottom and about a foot up i tie a dropper loop with a plain 5/0 to 7/0 octopus hook tipped with gulp or zman. This trip they would eat anything it seemed

South Jersey has its hot spots. Early season back bay stuff I like South Jersey allot. Come mid summer tho def prefer North.

Yeah not my fish to begin with but it swam away perfectly fine. Would have kept and ate it if it was in trouble.

💯 percent! Couldn’t agree more! Sadly the size of state stocked trout hasn’t inflated like the price of our fishing licenses lol. I did see an increased number of good size state stocked Goldens this year. I think that’s going in the wrong direction. Stock more good size browns, bows, and brooks. Fish that can’t get picked off as easy by Blue Herons and unethical anglers. These clubs do a lot for quality trout opportunities in our state.

Kind of like that at the state trout parks here in MO too. They do let out some big ones...but elbow to elbow fishing pressure sees most caught quick I'd imagine. You always see some lunkers, (5-10 lbs) that just don't seem interested at all.

Yeah that was most likely the same day. I don’t fish up there a ton but this is where they used to have a trout derby. Shot in the dark type trip and they just happened to be stocking

To be honest almost all my trout videos come directly after a fresh stocking. There are times when they shut down. Especially when water temps rise and they start to get sluggish or start keying in on insects.

Most people call it dough bait. It’s crushed pellets with a tiny bit of water added. Creates a dough consistency. Great for stocked trout
