This is a very interesting video. My homing pigeon by the name of Carly came up missing for the second time the first time she flew to another person‘s loft about 30 miles away from our house and we were reunited because the gentleman knew how to locate me through the identification band on her leg I brought Carly home, reunited her with her mate. They ended up having a set of eggs, and I took her on one more funeral flight a very familiar place that she had been to before and she came up missing I was blown away the mate continue to incubate. Fall of the year has arrived and we have had a great breeding season here at the Jones Racing Loft lost a few birds this year to various things getting lost ,hawks ,raccoons etc…. but overall, we’ve managed to maintain a very large flock. This video is very interesting and educational pigeons mate for life, but they will stray away with another pigeon if given the opportunity 😌they also are great at homing meaning you take them away and they will usually find their way home 🏡 if a pigeon leaves its home for more than three days they will begin to search for a new mate 😏so with that said I hope you enjoy and learn from this video...

Where do you get your bands? Segals? Wondering if I should band my pet Fantail just in case. She’s strictly a house pet though and Fantails are not good fliers.

@@charliee1579 i’ve been a fancier for over 30 years and it’s a chance you take I love all the birds equally sometimes you lose some when your in business You gotta take that chance she was one of my best birds. so I appreciate your passion and the bird was sitting on eggs. They had not hatched yet and normally they come back a lot quicker. They just so happen to hatch the day She didn’t come back but they’re fine and doing well. Be on the lookout for part two video.
I feel bad for allowing Carly to fly on this day because there was a storm coming. I believe the next morning and a couple of the other birds made it back in just before it got bad out, but I was thinking since she had a nest they normally home quicker and she been on this route several times, but I think something more sinister happened and for that I’ll forever blame myself😢 love you, Carly😢🕊️

Jedds, foy’s , vitaking and Siegel ‘s all sell the vaccines for PMV and salmonella in the long run it’s actually more cost effective to vaccinate then play Russian roulette with medicine you’ll be lucky if you choose the right medicine for a bacterial infection. Now viruses the pigeons have to fight through it.
That's another amazing insight in the complex social world of pigeons. I've just started to work on a construction plan for my very first loft and uploaded it in my community thing if you want to take a look at it and comment on it if you feel like. Happy New Year 2025 🥰

I've recently had a sick pigeon in winter house care to assist him getting rid of a crop infection which worked well with the help of infrared heat and a spectrum of natural antibiotics and vitamins and some love. Now here's the thing. I witnessed two times how the bird was talking with damped voice while he was sleeping. It was the sound they're making when they want someone else to go away from their food or private space. I'm still mind-blown by the fact I learned pigeons are dreaming just like we do, and they even talk in their dreams! 🥰

Good job on the roof the pigeons will love it and stay dry. Good work i have always been fascinated with pigeons. I had racing pigeons for about 35 years. I lost all the pigeons in 2022 to raccoons which cleaned up all my birds. Miss the birds great job keep the birds healthy and the loft free of rodents mice

What a beautiful mix of happy featheresd friends 🥰 I have a question: I'm thinking about buying two pigeons from a breeder. They were probably born last year or early 2024. The breeder is located on the other side of my city. Now, am I supposed to not let them out for a couple of days to avoid the risk of them desperately trying to find the way back "home"? Thanks in advance if you can give me some advice on this.
@@brady_birdbro I would keep them locked up longer than a couple of days depending on how old they are and if he’s ever flown them in his area. I wouldn’t take the risk on letting them out for a couple of weeks or more.
