Lure Fishing For Perch at 0° (Feels like temp -5°)
A day lure fishing for perch on the canal. Started well but overall it was tough going. We caught using baby goats and korum dark lords. Fishing slow on the deck was the best approach.

A few hours feeder fishing on Westerly Lake. We used brown crumb, sweetcorn and mini tuna wafters on a hair rig. Plenty of bites. Was good sport in winter.

Nice
👍👍🎣💯
We've all had this .
Are u at grow fairy?
I have no idea where that is?
It wasn't a bite....😂 probably a fish milling around your bait eating but not taken the hook yet...you want full active takes the rod should go round and stay round UNLESS it swims towards you in witch case the line will slack...not saying you don't know just incase anyone else is wondering that's my take
Yh usually to blunt hooks line lay or even position of my rod once you narrow these down good rigs good bait hook every time
Every once in a while a video of fishing in the UK pops up in my feed, so I watch it. It's so different watching how you fish, from the way we do it. We have such an abundance of fish and you have so few. I live about 10 miles from a huge public lake and can take my boat there anytime and catch as many fish as I want (large limits of most species and no limits on others) and take them home to eat right then or freeze for later. I can catch three species of catfish, Channel cats up to 5 pounds or so, Flathead Cats to around 30 or 40 pounds and then my favorite, the Blue Cats up to and over 100 pounds! We have a variety of pan fish, which are all good eating. Red Ears, Bluegills, Shell Crackers, Goggle Eyes, Sand Bass or White Bass and Crappie! We don't have any natural Stripers, but the state stocks Hybrid Stripers every year and some have grown to huge sizes! Then we have the Largemouth Bass that so many people like to catch. I've eaten them, but prefer Crappie or Blue Cats for eating! We have huge carp and freshwater Drum that we catch accidently and only a few people eat them. I used to be more of a hunter and would stock my freezer with wild game every year. But, since I've gotten old and feeble I no longer hunt, but I fish a lot more to make up for it. Fishing is a lot easier than hunting, but both hobbies can be as expensive as you let them be. I've bought and sold several boats and motors over the years and finally settled on a 14 foot v-hull aluminum that has plenty of room for my brother and I and I can pull it with my AWD Subaru Outback! My Outback is great for getting me into and out of remote fishing places that are too far to walk to. My Brother and I are retired, so we fish during the week when everyone else is at work. We stay off the lake on weekends, because it gets quite crowded. But, every small creek we drive over has panfish in it and hardly anyone fishes them, so we have that too! All in all I feel blessed for the access to fishing that we have and every time I watch a UK fishing video I feel double blessed! So, you take care and don't let the doggies eat your bait!
I’m always envious of your bass fishing. Wish we had some. The rivers over here are left to ruin. Not much of a stocking program to my knowledge and the water quality is getting worse which doesn’t help matters. The river Trent is good but in general they are not great. Some private lakes have great fishing but are expensive and can have a long waiting list to get a ticket. Overall the UK leaves anglers very underwhelmed in comparison to most other countries. Thanks for your in depth comment. 👍🎣
Still attracting the doggies. Nice to see a steadily increasing population of chub of a decent size.
Hey up mate. The dogs still love to be in 😂. Aye them chub were a nice surprise. Seemed to be doing pretty well. 🎣
Great fish! Cool channel too, I’ll definitely subscribe
Thanks mate. Much appreciated. 👍🎣
What river is this?
Hello. It’s the River Ouse.🎣
@OnTheRods Hy, is a recent video, water looks nice, in comparison with Severn wich is very muddy.
@ yes it was last week. River has been up a bit but it was dropping so the colour was coming out of it. Never fished the Severn. Will have to give it a go sometime. 🎣
Why haven't I thought of this.🤔🌌
I usually fish a very small local pond and use this method there but I fish Solid bags with quick stems loop to looped on so I loop a lead on first cast feel the donk clip up swap the lead for the spomb cast a few times and then take that of and loop on a bag cast back on the spot saves taking a shed full of tackle just for a small venue
@@mrtracing3292 tidy fishing that mate. It’s nice keeping the tackle minimal. Easy to have a move around an all. 👍🎣
Good idea...
@@EMTBLife 👍🎣
Get ont foss they’ve all magically come back been hammering them from monk bridge last 2 week
@@harrywalsh2104 I’ll have to give it a whirl. Cheers mate. 👍🎣
barely.
Water level looks high?
@@mattbough4530 aye it’s been well up for a bit mate. Starting to drop now. 🎣
It's a good sport/hobby to be into.
@@garrickclark3965 absolutely love it mate 👌🎣
Might of been a fin bite
Caught owt.
@@garrickclark3965 just bream mate. 🎣
@@OnTheRods My Grandad caught the record bream, of the 1950s. Only 8 pound something back then. Lock lomond. Proper registered with paperwork. Got stuffed. Hung on wall for years. Went to collector in london
@@garrickclark3965 quite a nice achievement at the time. Amazing how records have moved on over the years.
Where’s ya net you clown
I've always wanted to travel there and fish the canals.
@@cerebraltackle some canals are alright mate but you would have more fun on the rivers. 🎣
@@OnTheRods I'm disabled and can't get around like I used to. So, when I think about traveling abroad and doing something I haven't done before, I dream of doing a holiday on one of those narrow boats across from you there and fishing off the outside from a chair.
@@cerebraltackle ahh I’m with you. Yes would be great relaxing with the rods out on one of them boats. 👍🎣
Nice carp
@@LeventeHorváth-m1b 😉🎣
Decent session mate, well in 💪
@@beardedhookeruk cheers mate. 👍👍🎣
Ali Express lures are all I use now! Tried one of the small crank baits the other day and had 3 nice chub.
Ahh tidy work mate. Have to say I've been impressed with them for the price. They get the job done 🎣
Can’t do with loose dogs round a fishing lake.. nine out of ten times they end up doing something to your gear
nice fishing mate
@@fentone252 thanks mate 👍👍🎣
Brilliant 😊 👍😁🏴✌️
@@chopperhehehe thanks mate. 👍👍🎣
love the video, do u think u could drop me the link or name? i need to get some perch this year
@@frxgzy cheers mate. I don’t have a link but the name is ‘Hot management field’ micro Crankbait and it’s by ‘LTHTUG’. Hope this helps. 👍🎣
Don't look bad at all them little lures mate. Good vid, dropped you a sub 👍
@@beardedhookeruk cheers mate. Yea they get the job done. Carnt go wrong for the price 😂🎣.
Love it. Where is it?
Pet fishing.
Thats one massive trout!
Oh gutted, perfect presentation with a positive bite! Happened to me a few weeks back, had to go down to a size 18 to connect.
Your probably right!
You scared them away. Cast past and real towards them
Have you tried Asda pond on the float pal ?? There’s everything you could think of in there lol
@@harrywalsh2104 nah never been mate. Heard a bit about the place. Might give it a go one day. 👍🎣
Looked like a lift bite? Lovely fish 🎣
@@J_D_Adama you are correct. It was a drennan diftbeater float. Great for lift bites. 👍🎣
@@OnTheRods wonderful sport. Have a look at some handmade floats by Ian Lewis, their roach floats or bream lift floats take some beating too, just don't lose it lol
@@J_D_Adama checked them out and they look great floats. Might give one a go but you don’t want to be losing them at that price as you say 😂. Thanks for the advice. 👍🎣
some good roach there mate
@@fishwithivan8562 aye, cheers mate. Was alright for a couple of hours. 🎣
On Thursday I caught a ' long perch
I like turtles turtles
Cool fish
What test curve rod do you use ? 18lb line is very strong.
@@AlbertMiller-ul7ir Hi mate. I used the 18lb line as it’s all I had lying around 😂. Since scaled back to 12lb mainline and 10lb hook link. The rod was a 1-50gram feeder. Far too light for the job but again it’s all I had 😂🎣.
